Chapter 14 - Chapter 14: Whispers of Betrayal

Lin Tian's newly acquired Dragon's Eyes felt like a revelation. The world around him seemed sharper, more alive. Every detail glowed with significance—the faintest shifts in the wind, the subtle traces of energy lingering in the sanctuary. But what stood out the most was the faint, dark aura clinging to Zhao Yue.

He glanced at her as they exited the sanctuary, the golden glow in his eyes dimming. Her face was tense, her thoughts seemingly miles away.

"Yue," Lin Tian said, his tone measured. "Is there something you're not telling me?"

She froze, her back stiffening. "What are you talking about?"

"I see things now," Lin Tian said, his voice firm but calm. "The truth can't hide from me anymore. There's darkness around you—something you're carrying. If you want me to trust you, you need to be honest."

Zhao Yue hesitated, her fists clenching at her sides. Tears welled in her eyes, but she quickly blinked them away. "I… I didn't want you to know."

"Know what?" Lin Tian asked, his voice softening.

"My father," she began, her voice trembling. "He's been working with the Abyssal Order. But it's worse than that—he's planning something, something that involves you."

Lin Tian's jaw tightened. "What is he planning?"

"I don't know everything," Zhao Yue admitted, her voice cracking. "But he's been obsessed with the Heavenly Dragon Clan for years. When you married into our family, he saw you as a way to strengthen his ties to the Abyssal Order. He thought he could control you, but now… now he sees you as a threat."

Lin Tian's mind raced. The pieces were falling into place, but the picture they painted was one of betrayal and danger. "Thank you for telling me," he said after a long pause. "But if your father thinks he can control me, he's about to learn how wrong he is."
