[Would you like to assimilate with Bestial Agility(Common)?]

As he was now, Roy could only absorb on Trait Crystal. To get another one, he would have to advance to the next rank. A common-rank trait had no more than one aspect, most awakened would at least like an Uncommon-rank for their first class.
But Roy had no other choice, didn't he?
He could always wait it out, and get something better. But he could die to the next beast he encounters.
Roy stared at the status window suspiciously for an extended moment before accepting it. He could use agility, after all.
Thankfully, like most things about awakened, traits were upgradable. Hell, if he did well in the trial the system might even evolve it into a higher grade.
The crystal crumbled into dust and disappeared into the air in mere seconds. A familiar current surged through his body. There was no pain, only a strange sensation.
Roy could feel more clearly. He could almost see it as he dug deep with his mind's eye. The interweave of patterns pushed into his being and was sucked into an even higher complex system of weaving webs, making it his own.
He was unsure if it was natural to witness changes like this or if it was a side effect of his gift. Either way, he stored it all in his memory palace. Who knew when it would come in handy?
Finally, a fiery sensation flooded through his core, causing him to let out a groan.

Roy wasn't sure how it would happen, but he would take all the little benefits he could get. Roy felt a strong urge to test it out immediately.
He focused his mind entirely until his pupils narrowed as adrenaline surged through his veins. Roy wasted no time. He sprang forward, his brain electrified with energy. Acting purely on impulse, his leap was powerful enough to rival any top-tier athlete.
"Wow!" he exclaimed, launching himself in every direction. "This is amazing."
Although he wasn't sure how much was from the trait and how much from his attributes.
Roy disabled the trait, feeling the electricity drain from his body. He knew he needed to conserve his energy for critical moments. Still, understanding how to use his trait was a crucial step.
His thoughts drifted to the claw marks on his chest, which had already regenerated. He caught the pendant in his hand. As long as he had mana to offer, it would regenerate his body.
The amount of mana depended on the attribute Spirit and his core. That meant he had about the bare minimum of mana for an awakened. He didn't think he had enough mana to recover a lost finger, but it would still be a lifesaver in this trial.
Now that he had a pair of pants and had healed his wounds, it was time to move on. Slinging the quiver over his shoulder and gripping the bow in his hand, Roy set off, leaving his first prey behind.
He felt a strong compulsion to test his trait again, like a child eager to play with a new toy. But he knew better than to waste his mana and stamina recklessly. Although he needed to become accustomed to it, now wasn't the time.
The system gave no quest yet, which was fine with Roy. He had plenty to figure out. The same went for this strange place. Why had he been brought here?
Well, for his trial, of course. But shouldn't there be a goal in a trial? The system text didn't mention anything.
Navigating the hilly terrain, Roy searched for any signs of wild animals for about fifteen minutes. Finding nothing of note, he settled down beneath a tree. He was observing his surroundings when a high-pitched, unnerving sound came from behind him.
His mind rang, and Roy spun immediately. Something hit the tree, just grazing his skin. A burning sensation flashed where it grazed, while a small hole appeared in the bark of the towering tree.
Roy finally saw it for what it was. A rotund red frog nearly as high as his waist leapt towards him, its mouth opening to flick its large tongue in his direction.
He leapt in alarm, clutching his bow. While the long tongue could not reach his skin, its spit could, and from the look of things, it appeared to be an acid attack. The hole in the bark was evidence of that.
"Here we go again," he muttered, fishing out an arrow as he bolted.
The frog was huge, but it could certainly jump. However, the dangerous part of it was its long-reaching tongue and the venomous acid spit out with it.
Roy played hide and seek with it, darting behind trees or bushes to shoot multiple arrows at the creature. After several attempts, he finally managed to bring it down with two arrows lodged in its body.
Of course, it wasn't completely unscathed, either. He had to deliberately take an acid spit to the chest to deal the final blow without much trouble.
The burning pain seared through his skin immediately, with the chilling venom also infecting him. Thankfully, he only had to endure the agony for a few seconds before the [Heart of the Dawn] healed the wound.
However, it seemed to be still working to neutralise the venom. Thankfully, the venom wasn't mortally dangerous.
