The legendary hero Haxrus collapsed to the feet of The Ancestor. Trickling of Haxurs' blood and his ghastly gasp for air were all that could be heard. The Ancestor observed the hero, his scarlet eyes staring at him with fervent disdain.
The hero knew he couldn't accomplish it, yet he still rushed in with his remaining willpower only to fail. The system was gone, his hope had shattered, he had disappointed his people who had relied on him so much.
The Ancestor forcefully pulls the hair of Haxrus, forcing the hero to meet his chilling stare.
"It's a shame to have such a being make such a faulty decision," His husky voice was laced with contempt. "Though I do pity you. Being slaughtered by a ruthless being in the desolate land of snow…"
The Ancestor tosses the hero to the side, sending him tumbling across the freezing, snow-covered ground.
The vision of the hero began to gradually flicker. Everything around him began to grow distant. The Ancestor's pale figure, the flurry of snowflakes, and the icy winds fell into a blurred haze.
Even with his impending demise drawing closer with each breath, he still wanted to warn his village. He gritted his teeth as he dug his numb fingers into the snow, limping forward with each movement becoming slower than the other.
[Alert: You are dying!]
A notification window popped up in front of the fallen hero. He came to halt as the notification appeared. The hero came to realize his unfortunate fate. The biting winds combined with the cold snow was where the hero lie as his consciousness slips into darkness.
[Pass on power to the next hero? Y/N]
The system granted one last message. He was faced with a thorny inquiry. The hero began thinking to himself.
'What was the point? Was any of this even worth it? Would passing on my power to someone even change a thing? Will they have to suffer the loss I did?'
Even with his doubts lingering in his mind, he decided to select what the people would want.
"Yes."
After he made his option, the legendary hero known as Haxrus, succumbed to his defeat.
1000 years later that day, a new hero was born.
