Chapter 1 - Berlin, Day One: The world spun and when it settled, nothing made sense anymore.

It was a normal day like any other aside for one feature, John was searching for the truth which was buried in lies. He couldn't decide what was more dangerous- the truth he was chasing or the lies he believed.

John adjusted his tie as the cab weaved through Berlin's busy buses. Protesters lined the sidewalks their chants growing louder with every block. Signs denouncing corporate greed in the medical industry filled with air, alongside the presence of riot police who struggled to maintain order. The tension was too palpable. John had remembered he had recently read the news where there was a protest in Berlin over the use of dangerous substances in new pharmaceutical drugs which was issued from endangering animals. John was distraught because he was too busy to be distracted, his main focus lies on the seminar ahead. Doctor Victor Everest would be there to present his latest "breakthrough medication- a cover. John knew for the exploitative monopoly fueling Everest's wealth. His mission was to infiltrate Everest's inner circle and take him out during his small window of opportunity. Upon revising the mission once again in John's head, chaos suddenly erupted. A Molotov cocktail exploded near the cab forcing the driver to veer sharply. Before John could react, the door blown open by rioters who pulled him aside mistaking him for an official of the seminar. He was tossed around rioters and before he had time to react his whole world was dazed and confused. He had kept pleading his innocence but no one was listening and then suddenly another explosion occurred and this time he was pushed to the cab's trunk suffering a massive blow to the head. His body lays in the pile of human bodies while everything drops silent for a moment as police and ambulances intervene. Several days later he woke up in the hospital unsure of how he got there, only remembering he was to attend a seminar and that it was of utmost importance that he be met with Dr. Everest. He left the hospital despite the doctor's urge not to, he traces his steps back to the hotel where he was greeted with the local police detective who questioned his identity and showing that his hotel room had already been checked in. Denying everything he had no passport or proof of identity, another man claiming to be him shows up with a solid passport. Doctor Everest whom he had been communicating with over the phone over the past few weeks had also denied John of his identity, only giving truth to the impostor who had all the reasons and evidence of being John Wayne. John was bamboozled, he stared back at his reflection but it wasn't the face of the man he thought he was. He was a simple man of logic and reason, and all reason points to him being the impostor. Something had gone terribly wrong because he had no recollection over the past few days and what had happened to him during the time that he had lost. The silent chaos that was in his head was too much to bear that he had left the hotel abruptly.
