I was at a restaurant, and I couldn't shake the feeling that someone was following me. I tried to discreetly scan the area for any suspicious activity, but I couldn't spot anyone.
Sometimes, I thought about following Rose's advice, but why couldn't I bring myself to leave Red Mountain Villa?
"Here's your order, Ma'am. Enjoy and have a good day!" the friendly waitress said.
"Thank you so much," I replied.
I eagerly devoured my meal. After finishing, I glanced out the window, and my gaze fell on the strange man who had wandered into the garden at my house earlier.
I quickly grabbed my wallet, paid the bill, and called for the waiter. Then, I hurried out of the restaurant to follow the stranger.
I don't know what compelled me to follow him. I hadn't even asked his name, but I was driven to find out who he was. I walked, then ran, trying to catch up, but suddenly, he vanished from sight.
"Where did he go?" I was, confused. I sighed and headed for my car, deciding to visit Rose at her cafe.
That mysterious stranger was still on my mind. Who was he? So many questions swirled in my head, and I craved answers.
"Watch out!" someone yelled. I heard people screaming around me, but it was too late. Everything seemed to slow down as a car sped towards me. I closed my eyes and braced for the impact, convinced it would be my final moment.
But I felt nothing unusual. The sound of the car crashing, which should have been right beside me, seemed incredibly distant.
When I opened my eyes, I met the gaze of someone familiar — the stranger? His eyes, flashing with a hint of red, stared back at me.
"Be more careful next time, dàmn it!" he growled.
As quickly as the wind, he disappeared. I swallowed hard, clutching my chest, feeling my heart pounding.
"W—Who really that mysterious man?" I asked myself nervously.
I looked around, but I was astonished to find I was far from the scene of the accident. Ambulances and traffic officers surrounded a crowd of people. If it hadn't been for that stranger, I wouldn't be alive right now. Thanks to him.
Ever since returning to Red Mountains, I'd felt a strange change, but I tried to ignore it. Now, knowing this stranger and experiencing what just happened, which felt utterly unreal, I couldn't deny it any longer.
I took a deep breath and walked towards my car.
I was even more curious about this mysterious stranger and really wanted to know him. I hadn't even thanked him properly yet, and if it wasn't for him, I might not be alive right now.
I hopped into my car and sped off to Rose's cafe.
A few minutes later, I arrived. I parked in the lot and got out.
I hurried inside. "Good day, Ma'am!"
"Good morning!" I replied to one of Rose's staff. "Where's Rose?"
"She's in her office."
"Thank you," I said with a smile.
I headed to Rose's office and knocked, letting out a sigh.
"Come in!" I heard Rose say. I opened the door and stepped into her office.
"It's you," she said with a smile.
"Yes, today was unbelievable, Rose."
Rose furrowed her brow, confused. "Why? What do you mean?"
"I almost got hit by a car earlier, but you know, that mysterious stranger you saw at the house, he saved me!"
"The handsome, super hot one?" Rose's eyebrow shot up.
"What?!" I asked, pouting.
"Why, isn't he?" Rose teased.
"Can you please stop changing the subject? Don't you worry about what happened to me, Rose?" I asked, surprised.
"The important thing is that you're here at my cafe, we're talking, and you're breathing. But... you should be thankful that Mr. Superman of yours saved you."
I just rolled my eyes at Rose and looked away in annoyance. "Okay, so, did you thank him?"
"In person, no. He kept avoiding me, but you know, I saw him earlier and followed him, then I lost him. That's when I almost got hit by a car, and then I blinked, and I was in a different place, safe. I have a strong feeling that a strange man has superpowers." I explained to Rose.
But I was surprised when Rose seemed to be trying to hold back laughter. "I'm not kidding, I'm telling the truth," I said seriously.
"I don't know, maybe you're just hungry. Well, let me make your favorite cake," Rose said with a smile.
"Rose, I'm not kidding. What I'm saying is true." I insisted. I knew she wouldn't believe me, but I had to tell her what really happened.
I'm probably not going crazy, right?
"I'm telling you the truth, Rose."
"You know, I've read about stuff like that in fantasy books. Can we talk about something else?" Rose said, dismissing my story. I watched her closely, trying to read her reaction.
"I'm telling you the truth, Rose."
I was getting frustrated because my friend was just laughing it off. "You're just hungry," Rose said. I watched as she gestured for me to follow her and left her office, leaving me staring blankly after her.
I knew what I was saying sounded crazy, but I was certain of what I had seen. I wasn't making it up – that strange man really had superpowers.
I had to see him again to prove to Rose I wasn't going insane.
When Rose returned, she had cakes and juice, which she placed on the table. "Let's eat?"
"I'm telling you the truth, Rose."
I heard Rose let out a heavy sigh. Then, she smiled at me and took my hands.
"I know it's not easy for you to lose your parents, but I hope you don't reach a point where you can't handle the grief and start making up stories like these. Honestly, I wanted to laugh earlier, but I held back because I knew it wasn't right. Instead of laughing at you, I wanted to talk to you properly."
"Rose, I'm telling the truth. Tell me, how did that man get into our garden? How did he heal his wounds so quickly, in the blink of an eye?"
