Chapter 98 - Chapter 98: Nowhere to Hide

The tires screeched against the pavement as Kade swerved to avoid the black SUVs barreling toward them.

Seojin's breath hitched. They weren't supposed to find us this fast.

Minji clutched the dashboard. "I thought we destroyed their damn headquarters!"

Kade gritted his teeth. "Guess they had a backup plan."

Seojin's grip tightened around her mother's frail wrist. We can't get caught. Not now.

The headlights behind them multiplied.

Three. Four. Five vehicles.

Armed enforcers. Elite operatives.

The Council wasn't sending a warning.

They were sending a death squad.

And Seojin knew—they weren't meant to survive this.

The Chase Begins

Kade floored the gas, the engine roaring as they sped down the deserted highway.

The SUVs closed in.

A sharp turn—bullets shattered the rear windshield.

Minji ducked, swearing. "They're not playing around!"

Seojin twisted in her seat, raising her gun. One shot. One chance.

She aimed—fired.

BANG!

A bullet slammed into the front tire of the closest SUV.

The vehicle veered off course, flipping violently as it crashed into the side railing.

One down.

But the others weren't slowing down.

Kade cursed. "I can't outrun them forever!"

Seojin scanned the horizon—looking for anything.

An escape route. A way out.

Then—she saw it.

A tunnel up ahead.

"Get us inside!" she ordered.

Kade didn't question it. He swerved toward the tunnel entrance, engines roaring behind them.

Seconds later, they plunged into darkness.

The tunnel swallowed them whole, the night vanishing in an instant.

Minji exhaled. "Okay. What now?"

Seojin's mind worked fast. We can't fight them head-on. We have to even the odds.

She scanned the tunnel structure—old, unstable, full of cracks.

And then, it clicked.

She turned to Kade. "How many explosives do we have left?"

Kade's brow furrowed. "Two charges. Why?"

Seojin's lips curled. "Because we're going to bury them alive."

Minji's eyes widened. "You're insane."

Seojin's voice was cold. "I'm practical."

Kade floored the gas, pushing their speed to the limit as Seojin and Minji worked fast, setting up the explosives at two critical support beams.

The moment they hit the tunnel's midpoint, Seojin slammed her fist on the detonator.

BOOM.

The entire tunnel shook.

Rocks and debris collapsed behind them, sealing the entrance just as the Council's vehicles entered.

A massive cave-in.

Minji stared at the destruction, breathing heavily. "…Did we just kill them all?"

Kade exhaled. "If not, we at least bought ourselves time."

Seojin's eyes remained on the wreckage. This wasn't over.

They needed to disappear. Fast.

Because if the Council had found them this quickly—there was someone feeding them information.

And Seojin intended to find out who.
