Chapter 10 - Chapter 10: Ava's Death.

The doorbell rang, and Agatha answered it to reveal two detectives standing in the doorway.

"Can I help you?" Agatha asked.

"We're here to speak with Mr. and Mrs. Liam," one of the detectives said.

Eleanor walked into the room, curious about who was visiting. "What's going on?" she asked.

The detectives exchanged a somber glance. "I'm afraid we have some bad news, Mrs. Liam," one of them said. "Miss Ava, Mr. Liam's former secretary, was found dead this morning."

Eleanor's eyes widened in shock. "Oh no, that's terrible," she said.

Liam walked into the room, a look of surprise on his face. "What's going on?" he asked.

The detectives turned to him. "Mr. Liam, we need to ask you some questions. Miss Ava left a suicide note, and in it, she implicated you in her death."

Liam's expression changed from surprise to shock. "What are you talking about?" he asked.

The detectives exchanged a glance. "We'll need to take you down to the station for questioning, Mr. Liam," one of them said.

Eleanor felt a wave of fear wash over her. "What's going on?" she asked, her voice shaking.

Eleanor's mind was racing, as the detectives led Liam away in handcuffs. She had married a ruthless billionaire, and she had no idea what was happened.

She rushed upstairs to grab a pair of more casual clothes and ran back downstairs.

Cleo was waiting for her at the door, a look it concern on his face. "Ma'am, we need to go," he said, holding the door open for her.

Eleanor nodded, her mind focused solely on getting ti the police station. She climbed into the back of a Rolls Royce SUV, one of her dream cars, but was too confused to notice it at the moment. Her thoughts were a jumbled mess.

The journey to the police station felt interminable, but they finally pulled outside the parking lot.

She stepped out of the car and followed Cleo through the bustling station.

The detectives turned to her as she approached, their expressions solemn. "Are you Mrs Liam?"

Eleanor nodded, her voice caught in her throat.

The detective's following words took her breath away. "I'm afraid your husband is a suspect, and he'll be jailed if we could gather enough proof."

As she heard the news, part of her felt relieved that she might finally be free from Liam and her contract marriage. But another part of her felt sad at the thought of him being jailed.

She stood there for a moment, silent as she tried to process the news. She didn't know what to do or how to feel.

She was still trying to process the news, and her mind in a jumbled mess of conflicting emotions. When the door opener, a huge figure entered the station doorway.

He was a towering man, at least 6'5", with a broad chest and shoulders they seemed to fill the entire room. His hair was gray, cut short and slicked back, revealing a prominent forehead and piercing blue eyes that seemed to bore into Eleanor's soul.

His face was chiseled, with shsto cheekbones and a jawline, carved from granite. He had a cold demeanor, his expression unyielding and unforgiving.

Eleanor felt a shiver run down her spine as the man approached them. It wasn't until he spoke that she realized who he was.

"Let my son go," he growled, his voice low and menacing.

Eleanor's eyes widened as she realized that this was Liam's father, Mr Marcus. She could see where Liam got his possessive character from.

Marcus turned to the detectives, his eyes flashing with anger. "I want to speak to your superior," he demanded.

One of the detectives nodded and quickly dialed a number on his phone.

Meanwhile, in the interrogation room, Liam was being questioned by the detectives.

"So, Mr Liam, can you tell us about your relationship with Miss Ava?" One of them asked.

Liam shrugged. "She was my secretary, we used to work together. But I fired her a few months ago due to her incompetence.

The detective raised an eyebrow. "And did you have any contact her after that?"

Liam shook his head. "No, none."

The detective leaned forward. "Then why do you think she left a suicide note with your name on it?"

Liam's expression didn't change. "I have no idea. Maybe she was trying to frame me."

Just as the detective was about to let out another question, the door to the interrogation room burst open. A tall, imposing figure walked in, his eyes scanning the room until they landed in the detective.

"Detective John, I think it's time to wrap up things here," the man said, his voice firm and authoritative.

The detective looked up, a hint of surprise on his face. "But, sir, we're in the middle of an investigation.

The man's expression turned cold. "I don't care about your investigation. What I care about is that Mr Liam is released immediately. Do I make myself clear?"

The detective nodded, his face pale. "Yes, sir."

Liam stood up, a smirk on his face. "I knew I'd get out of here. You have no proof." he said, before walking out of the investigation room.

Eleanor waited for him outside, but Liam ignored her and walked straight to his father, who was waiting for him at the lobby.

"Father," Liam said, his voice neutral.

Marcus's eyes narrowed. "You're getting into trouble again, aren't you?"

"We'll talk about it at home." Liam's expression didn't change.

He quickly turned to Cleo, who was waiting at the door. "Take us home."

Eleanor watched as Liam and his father walked out of the station, leaving her behind.

As she left the station and stepped into the bright sun, she was bombarded by flashes from the cameras of journalists and reporters waiting outside.

She raised her hand to shield her face from the barrage of questions thrown at her.

"Mrs Liam!"

"Is Liam Chase really the suspect?"

"Why did he kill Miss Ava?"

"How do you feel being married to a billionaire and going through this?"

The questions were relentless, and Eleanor felt overwhelmed as she tried to make her way through the crowd, covering her face from the cameras.

Suddenly, a black sports car pulled up beside her.
