Chapter 3 - Chapter Three

Nicholas and Benjamin returned home, feeling somber. "We should head to your place, Benjamin," Nicholas suggested.

"I know my mom will have finished preparing dinner," Benjamin said happily.

As they arrived, Benjamin's mother greeted them warmly, "Welcome back home! I can't wait to hear about your day. Was it a success?"

Benjamin replied, "Can we at least eat first, Ma? We're exhausted and hungry."

Nicholas greeted Benjamin's mother with a low tone and said, "It wasn't a successful day, Ma."

Benjamin's mother suggested, "Let's sit and eat, then we can talk about it all."

They sat down to eat, and Nicholas recounted their day, leaving Benjamin's mother in shocked and surprised. That's how we were shocked and surprised.

"Mr. Elijah, the man you introduced me to at the party?" Benjamin's mother asked, her voice filled with shock.

Just then, they heard a knock on the door. Benjamin stood up to answer it, revealing Nicholas' mother.

"You both couldn't call? I've been waiting for the good news," Nicholas' mother said, expecting a positive update.

Benjamin explained, "I didn't receive an email, remember? Only Nicholas did the interview."

Benjamin added, "Mother and Nicholas are in the dining room."

Nicholas' mother was welcomed warmly by Benjamin's mother, who said, "Welcome, please sit down. Benjamin, get a plate for her."

Nicholas' mother thanked Benjamin's mother and took a seat.

Benjamin's mother filled Nicholas' mother in on the details of their day.

"It can't be! Your supervisor at your previous part-time job?" Nicholas' mother exclaimed, shocked and surprised. "We all met him at the party."

The conversation continued, with Benjamin's mother eventually saying, "I believe in you both, or rather, we both believe in you, so believe in yourself. Your worth will be discovered. This setback shouldn't be an excuse for laziness,Benjamin."

Mrs. Emily, still looking sad and shocked by the news, asked, "Are you still here, Nicholas? I'm leaving."

Nicholas stood up, bid farewell to Benjamin and his mother, and followed his mother out. They exchanged goodnight farewells before parting ways.

As they walked home, Nicholas couldn't help but wonder if Mr. Elijah was following protocols or if he had deliberately tried to intimidate them. Had their hard work and determination unknowingly offended him? The question continued to swirl in Nicholas's mind.

"If I get the job, Mom, I wouldn't accept it," Nicholas said to his mother.

She quickly responded, "You can't do that, Nicholas. I'm sure even Benjamin wouldn't agree."

"He sighed deeply. Okay, Mother, but if I get the job, I'll do my best for Benjamin," Nicholas said with confidence and sincerity.

The next day, Thursday, Nicholas received another email. It stated that he had passed the first interview and was invited to attend a second interview. Eager to share the good news with his mother, Nicholas tried calling her, but the call wouldn't connect.

Nicholas went on to take his bath and prepared himself for the interview. He decided to visit Benjamin to share the news. Upon entering Benjamin's room, he saw him intently focused on his laptop.

"Bro, what's up? What are you working on?" Nicholas asked.

"I'm working on a new project," Benjamin replied with a chuckle. "Where are you headed looking so sharp?"

Nicholas replied in a faintly excited voice, "I got another email for the second interview."

Benjamin's face lit up with a smile. "That's great! I'm so happy for you, man. Hurry up, so you won't be late, brother!" he exclaimed loudly.

Nicholas departed Benjamin's house and as he arrived at the company. He headed straight to the elevator, where a multitude of thoughts swirled through his mind. Lost in thought, he accidentally pushed a young lady holding a stack of files, on his way to the interview office where he came last.

The file scattered all over the floor and the lady let out a startled cry. "Watch your front! Where's your head at?" she exclaimed.

Nicholas's face flush with embarrassment , "Sorry, I didn't see you. I'm just having a lot of thoughts on my mind." He apologized, rushing to help her gather the files.

As they knelt on the floor, the lady looked up at him with a mixture of curiosity and amusement. "You look new, You don't work here, do you? Are you here on a delivery?"

Nicholas laughed and replied, "No, I'm here for my second interview for the job."

Her expression changed to one of interest, "Ah good luck with that ! I hope you get the job."

As they finished gathering the files, they both stood up and Nicholas introduced himself. "By the way, I'm Nicholas."

"I'm Rachael," she replied with a hint of a smile. "And I'm three minutes late now because of you."

Nicholas began to apologize, but Rachael interrupted him. "I'm in a hurry, bye!" she exclaimed, rushing off and leaving him behind.

Nicholas made his way to the interview office, but upon arrival, he found himself lost. He saw a group of people in a meeting, and to his surprise, Rachael was among them. "Obviously, she works here," he thought to himself.

Nicholas stood there for about five minutes, feeling increasingly anxious. Just then Rachael spotted him and came out from the meeting room.

"Are you lost?" she asked with a hint of sarcasm.

Nicholas chuckled. "It seems so. I'm looking for the interview office."

Rachael smiled and provided directions. "Follow this path straight, and the last office on your right is where you need to be."

"Next time, make sure to ask the receptionist for directions," she added.

Nicholas thanked her, his face lighting up with a smile. "You seem like a nice person."

Rachael's cheeks flushed, and she walked away, trying to hide her embarrassment.

Nicholas approached the office and saw Mr. Elijah through the transparent glass. "Ah, this man again!" he muttered to himself, the words escaping his lips quietly.

He took a deep breath, pushed open the door, and greeted Mr. Elijah. However, he remained standing, as Mr. Elijah didn't invite him to sit.

"You're five minutes late to an interview," Mr. Elijah said, his expression stern. "That shows a lack of punctuality."

Nicholas tried to explain the reason for his tardiness, but Mr. Elijah's skeptical gaze made him hesitate.

Mr. Elijah cut him off, his tone firm. "You don't have an excuse for being late, Nicholas. Sit."

Nicholas sat down, extending his apologies. "I'm truly sorry for the delay, sir. It won't happen again."

Mr. Elijah's expression remained serious, but he nodded slightly, acknowledging Nicholas's apology. "Let's move forward. This is the final interview. All I'm interested in is why you think we should hire you."

Nicholas confidently handed Mr. Elijah some files. As Mr. Elijah glanced through them, Nicholas began his pitch.

"I've acquired extensive knowledge in computer and software engineering," he said. "I have a great passion and motive, and I believe I'll make a difference by giving it my all. I've worked on several projects, including a recent one where I developed a software solution that increased efficiency by 30%. I'm excited about the opportunity to bring my skills and experience to Lyrik Company."

Mr. Elijah nodded, a hint of a smile on his face. "This is good, very good. I like your confidence and passion. You've clearly done your research, I can see that on this files"

He stood up, extending his hand. "Welcome to Lyrik Company, Nicholas. You're hired. Congratulations!"

Nicholas beamed with joy, shaking Mr. Elijah's hand. "Thank you very much, sir. I won't let you down. I'll give it my all."

Mr. Elijah smiled. "I expect nothing less. You'll receive an email from us within the next hour or two. Please read it thoroughly before proceeding to sign. You'll resume on Monday. We'll provide you with all the necessary information and training to get you started."

As Nicholas left the office, he felt elated and eager to start his new journey. He couldn't wait to share the news with his friends and family
