A voice startled me from my flashback. "It's the moment you've been dying for Sammy", my mom said with a cheerful smile. I looked around at all my relatives. Oh no. Uncle Jeff wasn't to be seen anywhere. Uncle Jeff was the best uncle I had. The best gift at every birthday was always from him. I wouldn't be surprised if he bought me an entire mansion. He was that friendly. Though he wasn't a rich uncle like everyone would have thought, his biggest desire was to give the best birthday presents and he would find one thing or another to give me and my cousins on our birthdays.
"Well, I guess no new laptop today", I thought sadly. I could see my brother John, a few feet away, smiling at my clear disappointment. I ignored him and started opening the presents. There were around 10 in total, each way smaller than the usual laptop size. I started opening them. A few Nintendo games, some books, a pair of jeans, and a few shirts but no sight of any kind of laptop. As I tore the wrapper of each present, I faked a smile and said 'Thank You' to hide my pure disappointment at the absence of a laptop in each present I opened. In no time at all, the floor was covered with wrappers and opened presents. Everyone started getting ready to leave and having a last bit of conversation before they bid goodbye. Though I had a sweet smile on my face, deep down I was sad and disappointed. "Not every birthday wish can be granted I guess", I thought as I sat on the couch for moments. I could see John smiling even harder but he was far from my thoughts at that moment.
But then, a sound of hope hit my ears. *Ring, Ring*. My eyes opened wide and I sprang up and ran to the door in hopes of seeing my good, old Uncle Jeff. I twisted the doorknob and my eyes twinkled in excitement as I saw my Uncle Jeff standing right on the doorstep. He smiled at me and walked into the house. A few minutes passed as the adults and the kids greeted Uncle Jeff. They were all about to leave but I knew it was not over yet. "Oh, and one more thing of course, how could I forget? A present for my little nephew Sammy", he announced. As I held the gift box I knew it was some kind of a laptop and I quickly tore off the wrapper. As I tore off the front I saw a glossy, black surface with a bright, silver logo in the middle. The next few seconds were amazing. I whooped with joy as I held my laptop up like a victory trophy. It was a gaming laptop just like I had asked. I thanked Uncle Jeff a thousand times and everyone laughed at my excitement. My wish had come true, all thanks to Uncle Jeff.
