Chapter 3 - Chapter 2: The one left behind yet by side

Back in the city she had left behind, Sanlang was a shell of the man he used to be. The moment Noor had walked out of his life, something inside him had shattered, leaving him broken and lost. He had tried to move on, to find a way to live without her, but every day was a struggle, every moment a reminder of the life they had once shared.

He threw himself into his work, trying to drown out the pain with endless hours at the his shoots. But no matter how hard he worked, no matter how many hours he put in, nothing could fill the void she had left behind. He missed her more than words could express, missed the way her eyes lit up when she smiled, the sound of her laughter, the way she made him feel like he was the most important person in the world.

Sanlang's friends noticed the change in him, the way he had withdrawn into himself, but no one dared to mention Noor's name. They knew the pain was still too raw, too fresh. He had tried to keep up appearances, tried to act like everything was fine, but it was clear to everyone that he was struggling.

His house was a mess, a stark contrast to the neat, orderly space it had once been. He had stopped caring about the little things, had stopped taking care of himself. His days blurred together, each one as empty and meaningless as the last.

The nights were the worst. Lying in bed, staring up at the ceiling, Sanlang couldn't escape the memories of Noor, the way she had looked at him when she told him she was leaving, the way her voice had trembled with emotion. He replayed that moment over and over in his mind, trying to make sense of it, trying to understand why she had left.

But no matter how many times he replayed the scene in his head, he couldn't find the answers he was looking for. All he had were the memories, the ghosts of the life they had shared, haunting him at every turn.

Sanlang knew he couldn't go on like this, couldn't keep living in the past, but he didn't know how to move forward. Every time he tried to imagine a future without Noor, all he could see was darkness, an endless void of loneliness and despair.

He had lost her, and with her, he had lost himself.

In the weeks that followed, Noor struggled to find her footing in the new city. The initial adrenaline rush of fleeing had worn off, leaving her with the harsh reality of her situation. She was alone in a foreign place with no connections, no job, and limited resources. Every day was a battle to survive, a test of her will and determination.

She found a small job at a local café, a place that paid just enough to cover the cost of her hotel room and a few meals. The work was grueling, the hours long, but it kept her busy, kept her mind occupied. The café was a small, family-owned establishment, and the owners were kind, though they didn't ask too many questions—a fact that Noor was grateful for. The less they knew about her, the better.

But even as she worked, even as she tried to build a new life for herself, the memories of Sanlang haunted her. She couldn't escape the thoughts of him, the overwhelming sense of loss that clung to her like a second skin. Every time she closed her eyes, she saw his face, heard his voice, felt his touch.

Noor knew she couldn't keep living like this, couldn't keep running from the pain. But she didn't know how to face it, didn't know how to reconcile the life she had now with the life she had left behind.

The city was a maze of streets and alleys, a place where it was easy to get lost, both physically and emotionally. Noor spent her days working, her nights wandering the city, trying to clear her mind, trying to find some semblance of peace. But peace was elusive, a distant dream that slipped through her fingers every time she thought she was close.

She had thought that leaving Sanlang would protect him, that it would keep him safe from the darkness that followed her. But now, as she wandered the streets alone, she couldn't help but wonder if she had been wrong. What if her leaving had only hurt him more? What if the danger she had tried to shield him from had found him anyway?

The thought terrified her, a cold fear that gripped her heart and refused to let go. She had left to protect him, but what if she had only made things worse?

Noor knew she couldn't go back, couldn't undo the choices she had made. But she couldn't continue like this either, couldn't keep living in a state of perpetual fear and regret. She had to find a way to move forward, to build a new life, even if that life was one without Sanlang.

But moving forward was easier said than done. Every day was a struggle, every moment a reminder of what she had lost. The city, with all its noise and chaos, offered no solace, no escape from the pain that consumed her.

Noor knew she had to be strong, had to find a way to survive in this new world. But as the days turned into weeks, and the weeks into months, the weight of her decisions grew heavier, the burden of her past more difficult to bear.

She was surviving, but barely. The spark that had once fueled her, the fire that had driven her forward, was slowly dying out, leaving her a shadow of the person she had once been.

Noor had thought she could leave her old life behind, that she could start anew in this foreign city. But the past had a way of catching up, of seeping into the cracks and crevices of her new existence, reminding her that no matter how far she ran, she couldn't outrun herself.
