[3rd POV]
Bang~
The sound of a fight came from the courtyard of the Fuyuki Church.
After a brief clash, Kirei and Kyouya were both quite stunned, but both kept a blank expression.
"Wait a minute."
Seeing that Kyouya was about to continue the fight, Kirei quickly stopped him, knowing that today would be a huge embarrassment for him as a senior if he didn't stop it.
"Only someone like me would resort to hand-to-hand combat. What truly determines a mage's success is their mastery of magic."
"That's right, and the jewel magecraft isn't supposed to be so simple."
Rin also agreed from the side.
However, after watching Kyouya's self-created "Explosive Stone Spell" these past few days, she couldn't help but feel slightly intrigued.
"Alright, I've recently created my own magecraft as well."
Kyouya's words piqued Rin's curiosity. After all, changing small details of an existing magecraft didn't count as creating a new magecraft.
"Interesting. Go ahead and show me how it works."
The Church already blessed Kirei's clothes, and his magical abilities were top-notch for this era.
If Kyouya used magecraft, it would likely be much easier for him.
He saw a large rock and stared at it.
Magecraft is a manifestation of life force, and magic circuits are like a magus's special simulated nerves.
These are part of Kyouya's body, and the "Demon Brain" gave him almost complete control over his body.
He activated his magic circuit, and waves of magical energy began to surge.
Then, with a powerful motion of his arm, he easily crushed the huge rock.
"Jewel Shotgun."
He quickly scattered the crushed rock, and the immense force sent them flying toward Kirei, with the tiny fragments exploding upon contact.
"Boom~"
A massive cloud of smoke appeared, and if it weren't for the magic warding off people in the area, they would likely have drawn a crowd.
"Nice."
"Nice my ass! This isn't even real jewel magecraft."
Rin could easily tell that the so-called "jewel shotgun" was nothing more than infusing a large amount of magical power into the rock, destabilizing its internal structure and ultimately causing it to explode.
The power was impressive, but it was far from "elegant."
She began to regret it.
Kyouya's existence would be a disgrace to the Tohsaka family's history.
"Ahem~ What an interesting spell. Where did the inspiration for your magecraft come from?"
Compared to Rin's helpless criticism, Kirei had more to say.
This unorthodox style of magecraft was undoubtedly far from "elegant," but it was impressive when it came to destructive power.
This made him think of that man who was already dead—Kiritsugu Emiya.
"Inspiration? Probably... from Shape-Will Fist, I guess."
"Shape-Will Fist is originally a martial art that imitates animals, but I think guns are far more powerful than animals. If that's the case, why not just imitate a gun directly?"
"Humans can't imitate machines, you idiot."
Even Rin, who was terrible with electronics, couldn't help but wonder how someone even dumber than her could be in this world.
"Humans are limited by their bodies, and they can't really handle machines, but magecraft is different."
He had just used his jewel magecraft to mimic a shotgun, which resulted from the spell.
"For example, with that last strike, if I really wanted to kill someone, I wouldn't jewel the gem. Instead, I'd use it like a mortar and throw it."
A mortar shell?
Kirei swallowed hard.
Just the shrapnel from that shotgun spell had easily broken through his defenses.
If he were hit by one of those so-called mortar shells, it would probably be a direct hit to his heart.
"Actually, in my original idea, changing the internal structure of a jewel to generate something like a nuclear reactor inside would be really interesting, right?"
Of course, this was just a random thought from Kyouya.
He was also a beginner in the world of magic, but in reality, he was just a high school student, far from being able to build anything like a nuclear reactor.
However, the serious look on his face left both Rin and Kirei speechless.
It was just a feeling, but if this guy really managed to create something like an ether reactor, the whole world might end up covered in fireworks.
"Rin, if I could turn back time, I would definitely advise you not to take this guy as an apprentice."
Kirei was now filled with regret.
After Kyouya graduates high school, he might end up at some place like the Clock Tower.
If he really created an ether reactor, the Clock Tower might be blown off the map the next day.
A human missile launcher was already enough to give the Mage Association a headache, and now a human nuclear reactor was on the scene.
"No, now I actually think taking him as an apprentice was the right decision."
She watched as Kyouya left.
If someone with his talent went down the wrong path, it would be the biggest threat.
While Rin didn't consider her own magical skills to be extraordinary, at least she wasn't a bad person.
She wouldn't let Kyouya become a bad person either.
"Besides, the Holy Grail War is about to begin. With his help, I'll have a better chance of winning, right?"
"You'd better think that way."
Kirei smiled without commenting further.
After all, the last person who thought that way was Tokiomi Tohsaka, and now his grave grass is three feet tall.
...
"How about I bring something back for Ritsuka to eat?"
Kyouya had received quite a bit of money from Shinji. Although he planned to use it for training, buying something for his little sister wouldn't hurt.
At that moment, a strong sense of danger surged through him.
It was the feeling from his "Demon Brain," a premonition from "Mind's Eye (True)," as if something terrifying was nearby.
What is it?
He began to scan his surroundings.
The feeling of danger was something he had only experienced during simulations.
Even though he now understood that the simulated world and the real world were connected, he had never encountered this kind of situation in reality.
Who?
He pushed his skills to the limit, simulating possible attacks from every direction. In the end, he identified a woman as the source of the threat.
She was a woman with red hair.
"Oh? Already encountering a fellow magus so soon?"
The red-haired woman noticed Kyouya's gaze and quickly walked over.
"Young man, who overseer the local ley lines? I'd like to pay a visit."
To be continued...
