Chapter 1 - Chap 1

"Five more minutes", said Calypso when she heard her mom call her downstairs to go to school. After a few minutes she heard her doot open," I thought I told you to wake up" said Calypso's Mom standing akimbo,"I know, I know" Calypso said while opening her eyes greeted by my sunlight which she sensed as harsh due to the change of lighting., "Get ready quickly or you'll be late for school" "Ok mom". Calypso's Mom left the room while Calypso got up sluggishly. Another day of school, Calypso hated school, hated all the pitiful looks.

Calypso walked into her bathroom and stared at the mirror which was above the white ceramic sink situated in the black Island, her head was covered by a white beanie, she removed the beanie and was welcomed by the sight of a bald head. Her eyebrows were almost non existent, they were once bushy and she remembers complaining about them a few years back but now she regrets it, she regrets every single thing. Cancer, She was diagnosed with it a little over a year she had to shave her head but she left her eyebrows just remain seen but it seems like the disease wanted to remind her that it was there. Her once vibrant face and Rosy cheeks were now pale and as white as, her once rose like lips were now pale and chapped. ChapStick was the least of her problems.

She cleaned herself up, put on her beanie which was now a usual clothing item for her. Her once black, long, healthy strands of hair was now in the trash bin of a random barber shop. She was sad about that but there was a bigger problem, more than the lost hair, the lost beauty, the emotional weakness and more than the pitiful looks and the murmurs which where clearly heard by her the "Oh I feel so bad for her" the that's what illnesses can do to people" way more than that more than the social ostracization.

"Where's all our hair"

'Maybe she has alopecia"

"No it's cancer"

"Better stay away from her you might catch it ha ha"

Way more than all this.

She was going to die soon.

The more she thought about it, the more scared she became. The doctor told her mom when she was going to die when she thought she was asleep, well she was awake.

The day she was going to die, she had less than a year to live, she thought she'd live longer, go to parties but she couldn't. At least she could see the next year, that was nice but the pain would continue. Her mom was angry, angry at herself for not being able to help her daughter and save her from the upcoming doom. Calypso didn't know why her mom was eating herself up about it but no one wants to see their child in pain right?.
