Chapter 7: Twin Martial Souls
This morning, during the Martial Soul Awakening ceremony, in addition to awakening the White Tiger Martial Soul, Dai Yao discovered that there was another strange aura within his body. It seemed that as long as he activated the Qi from his dantian, he could bring it to the surface.
However, he resisted the urge to do so.
That aura was most likely his second Martial Soul.
If he were to reveal his second Martial Soul in front of everyone, his enemies would not just be the Empress but the entire continent. The Tiandou Empire would not tolerate him, nor would the Seven Major Sects, and even within the Xing Luo Empire, there would be countless people secretly wishing for his demise.
The White Tiger family alone could not protect him.
Aligning with the Spirit Hall was a good option, but he was currently in the Xing Luo Empire, within the Imperial Palace. As soon as he showed even the slightest intent to ally with the Spirit Hall, the first to act against him would be the White Tiger family.
In the original story, Tang San awakened twin martial souls, but he had a titled Douluo father secretly protecting him.
But for him? Before awakening his martial soul, survival itself was a problem. Even with his exceptional talent now, no noble would invest in him, a prince who was destined to fail.
The Empress and the Zhu family's influence spread throughout every corner of the Xing Luo Empire, and the Emperor Xing Luo was cold and ruthless. In his eyes, power was more important than anything else.
No one could protect him. The only person he could rely on was himself.
He had to be cautious with every step he took. One wrong move, and it would be the end of him.
Hoo—
Dai Yao let out a long breath, calming himself as he activated the Qi in his dantian, summoning that strange aura.
As soon as the Qi from his dantian touched the strange aura, he was immediately stunned. A gust of wind swept through the room, the air pushing his clothes and making his hair flutter wildly.
The strong air flow made it difficult for him to keep his eyes open, and all the energy gathered in his palm, where a blue lotus appeared.
"Just as I thought." Dai Yao muttered thoughtfully.
The blue lotus had twelve petals, with a bud in the center that had not yet bloomed. The petals were pink and layered, an uncountable number, as if something was being nurtured within.
"Since you brought me to the Douluo Continent and became my Martial Soul, I should give you a name. Calling you 'Blue Lotus' all the time doesn't sound very pleasant."
"Let's call you Chaos Blue Lotus." After speaking, he withdrew his Martial Soul.
However, what he didn't know was that as soon as the blue lotus appeared, the soul beasts in the Beast Hall's iron cages, who had been restless, suddenly quieted down. All the creatures, both on the ground and in the air, within the palace, looked in the direction of the Cold Palace. Even the Blue Silver Grass growing on the ground seemed to sway toward the Cold Palace, as if bowing to the mighty emperor.
Unfortunately, this strange phenomenon only lasted for a brief moment, and no one noticed it.
The next day.
A group of people gathered in front of the Cold Palace, holding silk and rewards. Leading them was a eunuch with pale white skin and delicate movements. This eunuch was the Emperor's personal attendant, and his every action represented the Emperor's will. He was also a Soul Douluo, one of the top figures among the eunuchs.
No one knew his name, and he was simply called "Eunuch Gui."
The person beside him was Dai Yao's third uncle, Dai Hengyu.
Eunuch Gui knocked on the door, but there was no response. After a while, he became impatient.
Dai Hengyu immediately said, "Eunuch, perhaps the young master is just being mischievous and sleeping in. Let's wait a little longer."
He knocked again, but still no response.
Even a clay figurine has some temper, and Eunuch Gui snapped, "Open the door!"
As soon as he spoke, a eunuch lightly jumped over the nearly three-meter-high wall and opened the door from the inside.
Then, a group of people hurriedly entered the room, pushing the door open and glancing around. They found Dai Yao lying on the bed, in great pain, barely able to breathe.
Seeing this, Dai Hengyu was enraged. "How dare you! To harm him in the Imperial Palace!"
Just yesterday, Dai Yao had been perfectly fine when sent to awaken his Martial Soul. Yet this morning, he was in such a condition. And since Dai Yao had not left the Imperial Palace, the only person with a motive to harm him was one person.
But he never expected that the insane woman would disregard all rules and act openly in the Imperial Palace.
He helped Dai Yao up and looked at his emaciated body, feeling a sharp pang in his heart as he bitterly asked, "Little Yao'er, how are you?"
"I'm fine. Cough, cough... It's just... I haven't eaten in a long time..." Dai Yao said painfully.
"There's so much food on the table, how can you say you haven't eaten?" Eunuch Gui pointed at the table of food that the eunuchs had prepared to atone for their sins, asking.
Dai Yao didn't eat. He simply wanted to play it safe. Who knew if the food was poisoned? He had just awakened his Martial Soul, and if he died from something as trivial as hunger, it would be a huge loss.
He looked at Eunuch Gui and thought, Finally, you've come.
The revenge is about to begin, starting with those eunuchs who have tormented me all these years.
"This eunuch doesn't know... I've... cough, cough... I've always gone without food. The meals sent by the Imperial Kitchen were always snatched away by a few eunuchs outside."
"Yesterday, when they found out I became the Fourth Prince, they apologized and sent me this feast. However, I've been eating things like steamed buns for a long time, with no oil or seasoning. You see this table full of meat and fish, I was worried I'd upset my stomach, so I didn't eat."
Eunuch Gui looked at Dai Yao, who was obviously malnourished, and knew that what he was saying was true.
But as a Soul Douluo, he could clearly feel that though Dai Yao appeared weak, he was actually hiding a great deal of strength. He was pretending to be this way, clearly trying to use him as a tool to eliminate those eunuchs who had tormented him.
"What a clever boy, so young but already this strategic. With such talent, in time, you'll definitely achieve greatness. It's just a pity you're too young, and it's unlikely you'll win against several of the other princes." Eunuch Gui thought to himself.
As Dai Hengyu looked over, Eunuch Gui immediately felt the pressure.
To abuse a royal descendant, no matter what, was a capital offense. But those eunuchs were people of the Empress, and dealing with them would be troublesome. Dai Hengyu was a prince without much power, so Eunuch Gui wasn't afraid of him. However, he represented the entire Elder Hall behind him.
If this matter was reported to the Elder Hall, it would no longer be a simple matter. The situation would escalate, and even Eunuch Gui, a close attendant of the Emperor, would be in a difficult position, potentially disgracing the entire Imperial Family.
At this point, he only needed to follow the Fourth Prince's wishes, take care of those eunuchs, and make sure the Fourth Prince was satisfied. That way, the issue could be minimized.
Once again, Eunuch Gui couldn't help but admire Dai Yao's shrewdness and instructed, "Bring those eunuchs, Xiao Li and the others, to me!"
Yesterday, once Dai Yao was declared the Fourth Prince, he had immediately recognized this as his chance for revenge. By using Eunuch Gui and the power of the Elder Hall, he could eliminate the eunuchs who had tormented him over the years. They would be doomed.
