Chapter 15 - Chapter 16-DAMON POV

The sun beat down on the pack's central watering hole,a tranquil oasis in the mist of the dense forest. Wolves of all ages gathered around the edge, lapping up the cool, clear water. But as they drank,a subtle change began to take hold. Their bodies began to shift, their limbs lengthening, their senses heightening. But it wasn't the usual smooth transformation.

This time,something was wrong.

Layla was the first to notice. She stumbled back from the water's edge, her eyes widened with alarm. "Damon, something's happening". She cried. I rushed to her side,my heart racing with fear. That's when I saw it. Wolves stumbling, struggling to maintain their human form. They were stuck, unable to shift back.. Sam rushed to us,his eyes wild. "It's the water",He gasped."I think it's cursed". I knew exactly who was behind this.Victor. He had hired a witch to curse our water supply. Layla's hand clenched around mine,"What are we going to do,Damon?"She asked, her voice trembling. I took a deep breath,my mind racing. We had to act fast. Our pack's very existence depended on it. "I'll go to the witch",I said,my voice firm. "I'll make her lift the curse". Layla's eyes widened in alarm."Damon,no! It's too dangerous" I smiled grimly."I have to try,Layla. For our family and pack's sake". Sam nodded in agreement. "I'll come with you Damon". I shook my head."No,Sam.You need to stay here, take care of the pack". Layla's hand tightened around mine. I'll come with you",She said.I looked at her,my heart swelling with love."Baby I don't want to-". But she cut me off. "I'm not leaving your side Damon. We'll face this together". I nodded,my mind made up. Together we would confront the witch and lift the curse. No matter the cost.

As we got to the heart of the forest, the witch appeared before us,her eyes gleaming with malevolence."So,Damon,I see you're looking for me,correct,? I growled,"Lift the curse". The witch smiled creepily."You see,Victor made quite a deal with me. And I prioritise my clients". "But I can lift it up if you're willing to sacrifice something precious in return".She said as she looked at Layla. "

The curse is quite powerful, and it requires a...personal touch to lift it".

I narrowed my eyes, sensing where this was going."What do you want from me?"I growled. The witch's eues sparkled with excitement."I want you or your precious little human here to become the vessel for the curse",she said."If you agree to carry the curse within you,I'll lift it from the rest of the pack". Layla's eyes widened with horror."No,Damon,we can't!".She exclaimed. But I was already considering the witch's offer. If it meant saving my pack,I was willing to do whatever it took. "What do I have to do?"I asked the witch,my voice firm. The witch's smile grew wider."Oh,it's quite simple, really",she said."All you have to do is accept the curse, and it will reside within you, feeding on your power and your life force".

Layla's hand tightened around mine, her eyes filled with tears."Damon, please don't do this",she whispered. But I knew I had no choice. I had to save my pack,no matter the cost to myself. I took a deep breath, steeling myself for what was to come."I accept the curse",I said,my voice firm. The witch cackled with glee, her eyes gleaming with malevolence."Excellent choice,Damon",she said."Now,let the curse take hold". She raised her hands, and a dark, swirling energy began to emanate from her fingers. The energy enveloped me,seeping into my pores and spreading through my veins.

I felt a burning sensation,as if my insides were being consumed by fire. My vision began to blur, and I stumbled,my legs weakening beneath me.

Layla's voice was distant, echoing into my ears."Damon,no! Oh,God,please don't do this!". But it was too late. The curse had taken hold, and I could feel it's dark power coursing through me.

As the witch's energy dissipated, I stumbled backwards, gasping for breath. Layla caught me,holding me upright as I struggled to maintain my balance. "Damon, look at me",she whispered, her eyes filled with tears. "Please don't leave us,our little family". I forced myself to focus on her,my vision slowly clearing. "I'm.....I'm okay,Layla",I gasped, trying to reassure her. But deep down,I knew I was fucked. The curse was inside me now feeding on my power and life force. I could feel it's dark influence spreading, corrupting me from the inside out.

And I knew that I might never be the same again.

Layla's eyes searched mine, filled with worry and fear. "What have you done,Damon?" she whispered. I tried to reassure her, but my voice was weak and shaky. "I had to,baby"I said."I had to save the pack". The witch cackled again, her eyes gleaming with triumph. "You fools",she spat. "You think you've saved your stupid pack? You've only condemned yourselves to a life of suffering and pain". Layla's face twisted in anger and she took a step forward, her fists clenched. "You'll pay for this",she said. But I caught ber arm, holding her back. "No Layla",I said."We can't afford to fight her now. We have to get out of here, and figure out how to reverse this damned curse". Layla's eyes flashed with frustration, but she nodded, and together we turned to leave. As we walked away,I knew that I had made a terrible mistake, one that would haunt me for the rest of my life.

But I also knew that I would do anything to protect my family and our pack. Even if it meant sacrificing myself. As we got back to the pack's territory,I could feel the curse growing stronger, wanting to take control of my mind and body. Layla stayed closed to me,her eyes fixed on mine with concern. "Damon, what's happening to you?" she asked, her voice barely above a whisper. I tried to reassure her,as the curse's power was tempting me with darkness. I'm okay, baby",I lied."I just need to.....to find a way to reverse the curse.

Layla's eyes narrowed, her gaze piercing."You're not okay,Damon",she said."I can see it in your eyes. The curse is changing you". I looked away, unable to meet her gaze,I knew she was right. I could feel the curse corrupting me.

I couldn't even feel Lucas,my wolf.

We walked in silence for a while, the only sound, the rustling of leaves beneath our feet. Finally,we reached the pack's territory, and Layla led me to our room. She turned to me,her eyes filled with determination. We'll find a way ro reverse the curse,Damon",she said."Together". I smiled, feeling gratitude towards her. "I know,we will,Senorita",I said "I just hope it's not too late".

Days passed and I could feel the curse growing stronger. I was becoming increasingly paranoid and agressive, lashing out at Layla and the rest of the pack. I had to stay away from Ethan for a while. Layla tried to be patient with me,but I could see the fear in her eyes. She didn't know what to do,neither did I.

One night,I woke up to find Layla sitting beside me,her eyes wide with worry. "Damon, I had a dream",she said, her voice barely a whisper. "A dream that showed me how to break the curse". I sat up,my heart racing with hope."What did you see?"I asked my voice shaking with urgency.
