Synopsis
Lyra, the daughter of a powerful Alpha, has always been seen as a failure. Unable to connect with her wolf, she’s treated as an outcast in her own pack—even by her husband, the Beta, whose scorn cuts the deepest. Desperate to protect her father when he’s captured by a rival pack, Lyra agrees to an unthinkable bargain: to save her father, she will be given to the enemy Alpha. Thrown into the arms of a man feared for his strength and ruthlessness, Lyra expects cruelty. But Alpha Kieran surprises her. Beneath his stern exterior lies a complexity she never imagined—compassion, understanding, and an unyielding belief that she’s more than the broken woman her pack made her out to be. As Lyra adjusts to life in her new pack, she begins to uncover a side of herself she never knew existed. Kieran's steady presence awakens her courage, her heart, and even the long-silent bond with her wolf. But as forbidden feelings grow between them, Lyra must decide where her true loyalties lie: with the pack that rejected her or the man who believes in her. In a world of pack politics, dangerous secrets, and a fragile truce, can Lyra risk her heart on the Alpha who might just teach her what it means to love—and to truly belong

Chapter 1 - Moonlight kiss

Lyra was used to been the last to know what was going on the palace. Being the only princess unable to wake her wolf, she had little to no powers and was lucky, as everyone said to have a husband who had powers, Adrien. Adrien never missed a day in reminding her about how lucky she was in having him. This was the sixth month of their marriage and Adrien was yet to touch her. He seemed to be avoiding her, always coming up with an excuse, but today, Lyra decided they had to try. Her father had made mention of grandchildren and she was the only one married between her and her brother. Lyra steeped out of the milk bath she was soaked in. She had been told that it rejuvenated the skin and could make one glow and look more beautiful. She hoped it worked the magic the maid that prepared it promised it would do. She picked up the robe set aside by the maid and put it, then walked towards her mirror. She was about to sit down when the door swung open. It was her maid rushing in without knocking. "Apologies, your highness, but the palace is under attack."

That was the last thing Lyra heard before the blast happened. Everyone crouched down, taking cover. When she came to, they had been dragged to the throne room. She could see her family members and the palace staff lain across the room. There was someone on the throne, but he wasn't her father. She couldn't get a good look at him as the lights were directed on her family as prisoners. Lyra quickly scanned the room looking for her husband. When she saw him, he appeared to be very shaken and scared. Lyra pinched herself, reminding herself to stay calm and focused. When everyone had been rounded up, the man on the throne waved at one of the captors and he approached him. After their talk, the captor walked back. "We have no reasons to create further issues here. We simply want an alliance with your nation which the king had refused in time past. My lord here requires a peace offering, then we can talk about how to move forward." The captor walked among Lyra's family looking at them. No one talked or moved . "We need you," the captor said, pointing his gun directly at Lyra's father, the alpha "to make a quick decision on how you plan to pacify my lord." When Lyra's father did not speak, the captor removed the gun from safety. "Don't!" Lyra heard herself shout out loud, and in that moment everyone turned to her. The gazes from her family members seemed to ask a question as she could see her father raising his eyebrow at her in questioning look. "Who is she?" The man on the throne asked in low demanding voice. No one spoke for a while until one of the captors grabbed someone by the hair. "If no one wants to answer, I will start killing people one by one," he said. "I am.." Lyra started to speak. "She is my daughter," her father said. "You have a daughter I do not know of?" the man on the throne asked. Lyra thought she heard a little bit of surprise in his voice. Her father nodded. "Well, that does it. You have two options, an alliance by blood or I kill you and become the alpha." Lyra was shocked. She knew what he meant by alliance by blood. "But I am married," she said. "Married?," the man on the throne said, chuckling, "that is quite interesting. Where is the husband?" There was no response. Lyra looked around, searching for Adrien. The man on throne seemed to have become impatient and he stood up for the first time. He was about 6 foot 5 inches and had broad shoulders. Lyra wanted him to step into the light so she could see him. "Where is the husband?" he said in a low tone which sent chills down Lyra's back. "We are just married in name, I haven't even mated with her yet," Adrien blurted out. Lyra felt the cold wash through her as everyone turned to look at her. She felt the shame, the embarrassment and every other thing all at once. Raising her robe, she covered her hands under it. The man who had been sitting on the throne started laughing, it was a low husky laugh and made Lyra feel more embarrassed. And then he stopped. "No woman, this beautiful, should be made to feel the way you just made her feel," he said. Walking towards Lyra, he continued talking, "if you will allow me, I will like to love you and worship you, the way a goddess like you should be." He stopped in front of Lyra, stretching out his hand towards her. Lyra stood, confused and silent. "Yes, she would go with you," her father said.

Three hours later, Lyra was in the back of the car taking her to her captors' place. Whoever he was, he was very rich. But Lyra didn't care about that at the moment, all she could think about was how her family had betrayed her. She had been exchanged from her husband to whoever this was in a matter of seconds just to spare her family. When the car pulled up on the front door, Lyra didn't want to come down but someone opened the front door and carried her out. The feeling was new, she had never been carried out by anyone. She closed her eyes, savoring the feeling but also scared of what she was entering into. When she felt herself being laid down on the bed, she kept her eyes shut until the person had left, covered herself under the sheets, then she let the tears fall.

When she woke up, it was already morning. Someone had turned off the lights in her room and there was coffee placed on the table. Lyra washed her face and took a sip of the coffee. The room was well decorated and a gown was placed in the wardrobe for her, she guessed. Lyra tried it on, for lack of having anything to do. "That looks very beautiful," a voice said behind her. She turned, too quickly she almost fell. The man moved very fast and caught her just in time. The closeness between them made Lyra feel warm tingles around her breasts. The warmness seemed to be spreading across her body and down to her groins. Lyra pushed against him and moved away. "I'm sorry," "no need for apologies. You look so beautiful and ravishing." Lyra smiled, "thank you." He was very handsome also, with well cut cheek bones and beautiful blonde hair. He was the 6 foot 5 man from last night Lyra realized. "I wanted to invite you for lunch today as you have already missed breakfast, and also invite you for the hunt later tonight." "The hunt?" Lyra asked, she had never heard of been invited for a hunt. "Yes, you don't do it?" when Lyra did not answer he continued, it's basically a time when we go out in wolf form and bask under the moon, usually with our mates. And I'll like to have you as my mate." That made Lyra's heart skip a beat. He officially asked her to mate with him in wolf form. No wolf initiates mating in wolf forms unless they wanted the mating to be for a life time. Lyra felt honored but at the same time embarrassed. "I can't connect to my wolf," she muttered in a very low voice. "What?" he asked her, moving closer to her. Lyra moved backwards, her back against the wardrobe. He was too close and she could hear her heart racing. She was sure he could hear it with his wolf hearing, and she was sure he was enjoying it, the torment he was putting her through. "I CAN'T CONNECT TO MY WOLF!"
