The morning sun found them walking into a thick forest to get to the next hidden clan. Jayden carried the Ocean's Heart with him-faintly glowing, yet subdued under sunlight. The atmosphere was tense, almost hopeful. The more alliances they forged, the bigger their chances stood against the Dark Apostles.
This time, the journey felt heavier for Joyner. Ever since they had begun this mission, a strange feeling lingered in his mind—a vague yet unshakable sense of dread. Unlike the others, his power, the Heaven's Eye, gave him glimpses of the unseen, revealing truths and dangers that others couldn't perceive. Today, it felt as though the forest was alive, watching them.
"Joyner, you've been quiet," Jason said, walking beside him.
Joyner looked at him. "Something's not right about this place. It feels. wrong."
"You and your Heaven's Eye," Lucas chided, chuckling as he joined the conversation. "You always think everything's a threat."
"It is not a question of thinking," Joyner answered, his voice level. "I know that something is here, watching us. And it does not want us to go ahead with this."

window: An Ominous Encounter
As the group broke into a clearing, Joyner came to a sudden stop, his eyes narrowing. He could feel it-an energy swirling in the air, heavy and oppressive.
"Wait," he said, holding out his arm to stop the others.
"What is it?" Diane asked, her hand instinctively going to the hilt of her blade.
Joyner didn't answer at once. Instead, his eyes flared softly as he engaged the Heaven's Eye. The fabric of reality seemed to blur before his eyes as he saw into the layers hidden from normal men.
What he saw sent a cold feel running through his veins. Shadows danced at the edges of the clearing; their forms twisted unnaturally. At the center stood a large stone monolith, the runes etched into its surface pulsing with a malevolent light.
It's a barrier," Joyner said in a low tone. "A trap to keep us from reaching the next clan."
As he spoke, the shadows coalesced into monstrous forms, their red eyes glaring at the group.

The Trial of Perception
The dark creatures lunged at them, their forms shifting and flickering like living nightmares. The group sprang into action, weapons drawn. Lucas summoned arcs of lightning, striking down several shadows in a single blow. Diane and Jason moved in sync, their blades cutting through the darkness.
But for every shadow they defeated, more appeared, their numbers seemingly endless.
This isn't working!" Ben shouted, his arrows passing through the creatures as if they were smoke.
Joyner stepped forward, his Heaven's Eye glowing brighter. "They're illusions," he said. "They feed on our fear and confusion."
"Then how do we stop them?" Sarah asked, her healing spells barely keeping up with the group's injuries.
Joyner closed his eyes, his concentration on the monolith. The runes etched onto its surface pulsed with dark energy, anchoring the illusions to the physical world.
"The monolith is the source," he said. "Destroy it, and they'll vanish."
Jason nodded. "We'll cover you. Do what you need to do."
---
Unlocking the Heaven's Eye
Joyner ran toward the monolith as his heart buckled. The shadows cascaded towards him, but both Lucas and Diane stopped them-the time Joyner needed.
Before the tall stone, Joyner placed his hand on its surface. Brighter now, the runes launched their energy to invade his mind. A momentary lapse in resolve, his sight swam with images of despair and ruin.
"You cannot handle the truth," a voice whispered in his mind.
Joyner clamped his jaws and focused on his Heaven's Eye. The glow in his eyes intensified, tearing through the hallucinations and revealing to him the monolith's true form-a structure of ancient magic, set to test the resolve of those who wanted to pass.
"If you think I'll falter, you're wrong," Joyner said aloud.
He focused the power of his Heaven's Eye and channeled it into the monolith. The runes cracked and flickered, releasing their dark energy.
---
The Collapse
The monolith shattered, and with it, the shadows let out a unified shriek as they broke apart and vanished into the air. The silence of the clearing returned, the dark aura dissipating.
"You did it!" Diane exclaimed, lowering her weapon.
Joyner turned to the group, his breathing labored. "The barrier's down. We can move forward."
Jason clapped a hand on his shoulder. "Good work, Joyner. I knew we could count on you."
Joyner forced a small smile, though his mind had already wandered elsewhere. What truth had that voice spoken of-the one that whispered of the truth?
With the obstruction removed, the companions went a little further ahead until they fell upon a waterfall that was exceedingly huge. And behind the water fall, there was the opening that entered into a well-hidden haven.
And as soon as they did, the residents were dressed in towels, with lights in their eyes, just as Joyner appeared every time he saw with his Heaven's Eye.
"Greetings, finders," said an old man, coming forward. "We are the Seers of Lumina. You all proved your worth to enter our domain."
Joyner went forward and met the gaze of the man. "We seek your help against the Dark Apostles."
After eyeing him carefully, the elder nodded. "We will be of help to you. But first, there is something which you should know."
"What is it?" Joyner asked.
The expression of the elder turned grave. "Your Heaven's Eye is more than a gift. It is a key-a key to a truth that may alter the fate of this world."

A Fateful Revelation
As the group settled into the sanctuary, the elderly pulled Joyner to one side.
"You have unlocked some of the true potential of your Heaven's Eye," he said, "but there is so much more to it than you realize. It is tied in with the ancient magic that binds this world."
"What do you mean?" Joyner asked.
He nodded toward a mural on the wall-a great battle of light against darkness. "The Heaven's Eye is one of the Seven Keys, created by the first guardians of this world. They seal and unseal the forces of chaos. When the Dark Apostles get control over the keys, all will be lost.
Joyner's heart sank. "So the Heaven's Eye isn't just a tool.it's a weapon."
"A weapon, and a responsibility," the elder said. "You must protect it at all costs."
Joyner nodded, his resolution strengthened. He would not let the Dark Apostles take that which was his to protect.

Onward
As the group prepared to leave the sanctuary, Joyner relayed the words of the elder to them.
"This changes everything," Jason said, a serious look upon his face.
"It doesn't change our goal," Joyner replied. "It just makes it more important."
The group set out once more, the weight of their mission heavier than ever. Joyner walked at the front, his Heaven's Eye glowing faintly. He didn't know what the future held, but he was ready to face it-whatever that might be.
