I Thought I was going to die for sure...

A man broke into my families home and tied us to chairs then began to torture and kill my family one by one in front of my eyes. He started with my father then it was my mother's turn and after that he started on my two little sisters.

My turn was last as he started slicing into my flesh with his sword, the pain was unbearable. He seemed to enjoy the pain that I was in as his eyes glowed with excitement. Then he began burning my flesh using fire magic and that's the last thing I remember.

What was that weird noise. Am I not dead. Were the two thoughts that ran through my head as I was slowly waking up and opening my eyes. Where am I. Looking up at a white ceiling thinking this must be a hospital then I faced back into darkness and sleep took me.

Opening my eyes again after whet felt like forever I turned my head only to see a startled nurse. See looked surprised that I woke up I guess even the hospital didn't think I would make it.

Two men came into my room wearing military uniforms and informed me about what had happened. They told me that one of the neighbours heard the screams and called the authorities. When they arrived they killed the man that had murdered my family and put me in the hospital. That was the reason I made it out alive.

You see the world was different now because about 100 years ago a meteor smashed into the earth causing absolute chaos. All modern weapons, machinery and technology were destroyed sending the world into darkness. When the meteor struck mana spread across the earth at an alarming pace.

It also brought beast like monsters that seem to appear overnight and with that whole cities fell to the beasts. Portals starting opening all across the world that led to strange dungeon type places that held extreme dangers but also many treasures.

Every person heard the same thing that day and that was the system. Since then every person in this world had a system appear at the age of 18.
