On the main road, Thalia was tearing through the streets, driving reckless.
Thaila is still fully immersed, his grip on the wheel steady. The adrenaline rush coursed through him, igniting his senses. He couldn't help but feel a sense of euphoria, a high that surpassed anything he'd felt before.
Perhaps this was why so many people on the fringes of Night City sought out danger—to live on the edge of life and death, where every moment was a gamble, and the stakes only grew higher.
The thrill was addictive.
"It's almost better than drugs," he muttered under his breath, feeling the rush build inside him.
Even Lucy, sitting in the passenger seat, could barely mask her unease. She threw a wary glance at the speedometer, her face subtly betraying her discomfort.
In the next moment, she fastened her seatbelt, a silent promise to herself that if they survived this, Thalia would never drive again.
Lucy, still trying to catch her breath, glanced at him. "You drive like a damn maniac..."
But suddenly—Boom boom! A powerful purple-red off-road vehicle barreled past them.
A muscular man with a machine gun prosthesis perched himself on the roof, his body exposed to the chaotic city air.
Thalia eyes narrowed. The Beast Gang.
His suspicions were confirmed when he saw the white wild dog graffiti splashed across the side of the vehicle. The gang wasn't interested in him—they had their sights set on something else.
"Drive faster! We can't let that fucker go away!!" the man on the roof shouted to his driver. He pointed forward. "Get rid of them before we reach the viaduct!"
The second man, sitting in the passenger seat, grinned and shout maniacally while raising a golden Gatling gun. "CHEEEEEHOO!! Let's show them who's boss!!"
The off-road vehicle surged ahead, cutting through traffic without care.
Lucy, watching this from her seat, clicked her tongue in annoyance. "The Beast Gang causes trouble every day in this city. One of these days, they'll be wiped out by someone."
Then she glanced in the rearview mirror, noticing the absence of the scavenger motorcycles. Finally, she relaxed a little, reaching for a cigarette.
With a flick of her lighter, she lit it and exhaled a slow, deliberate smoke ring and said sarcastic. "Well, Thalia, looks like you got us away from the scavengers thanks to your awesome driving skill."
Thalia didn't respond, his golden eyes narrowing as they spotted a familiar off-road vehicle ahead. It was the Beast Gang—their antics hardly a surprise in the chaotic streets of Night City.
He wasn't concerned with them. What caught his attention was the yellow car.
Then, his eyes widened in recognition.
Yellow…. car…
Then the pieces clicked together in his mind.
His heart skipped a beat.
The yellow car... It was the one from Cyberpunk: Edgerunners. The car involved in the tragic accident that killed David's mother.
And now, the same scenario was about to unfold in front of him.
"Is this God's joke? The characters in the anime all appear in my world in this way."
"Lucy," he said, his voice low and serious. "We need to that yellow car
To be honest, Thalia wasn't the type to get involved in other people's business or play the hero when he saw injustice. But watching a mother's sacrifice, a woman who gave everything for her son, only to die in front of him—it hit too close. Even for someone like him, someone who often preferred to remain distant, he couldn't simply stand by and let it happen.
Lucy raised an eyebrow, confusion flashing across her face. "What are you talking about?"
"They're about to crash," Thalia said, his voice colder than us.
"Wai-!?" Before Lucy could respond
Thaila slammed his foot on the accelerator, the car surging forward with newfound power. The Beast Gang's off-road vehicle shot past them, the men on the roof shouting taunts to the luxury car in front. But Thalia's attention was on the yellow car.
He weaved through the traffic, narrowly avoiding collisions as the sound of horns and angry shouts filled the air. The crash was coming.
As he drew closer to the yellow car, Thalia glanced at Lucy. "Hold on. It's going to get bumpy."
"Dammit-!!" Lucy's words were lost as Thalia swerved in front of the yellow car, cutting off the Beast Gang's off-road vehicle just in time.
The impact was deafening. Tires screeched, metal crunched, and chaos erupted. Thalia's pulse raced as he steered the car away from the wreckage, ensuring the yellow car was safe and clear from the violent crash.
As the dust settled, Lucy stared at him, her eyes wide. "You... you actually.. sigh promise me don't ever and never drive again "
Thalia smile faintly and said. "I can't promise you that Lucy driving is well —it's a man's romance"
"Sigh... And by the way why did you save that them? Acquaintance perhaps?" Lucy asked while glancing to shocked mother and son who inside the yellow car.
"Maybe." Thalia said as he get out in the car.
I'm so sorry ma'am are you okay?....
