Chapter 1 - Story System

[Congratulations!]

[You have unlocked the Story System!]

"Huh?"

A youth with jet-black hair and bright green eyes sat on a fairly empty moving train as he looked away from his phone, staring at the blank air with a confused expression.

'Did I not get enough sleep last night? I'm…seeing things.'

But before he could get an answer, the screen before him disappeared as the sound coming from his phone grabbed his attention.

"Breaking news, the streets of Central City are littered with ice and fire this morning as…"

'I don't remember visiting the news channel. How did it…wait a minute, what did she say?'

The youth's eyes widened as he realised something.

And as if to confirm his thoughts, the news anchor continued.

"...This was all the result of Flash's daring battle with Captain Cold and Heatwave, also known as Leonard Snart and Mick Rory, that ensued last night."

-STOMP!!!

The boy shot to his feet as he stared at the screen before him, his eyes so wide they threatened to pop out of his skull.

"H-How…did she say the Flash?"

The boy frantically flicked on his phone, ensuring this was indeed the news and not something else.

"The next stop is the Gardener River."

The boy then snapped his head at where the automated voice of the train was coming from as he stared.

'Gardener River…that's…'

He recognised the name.

It was where STAR Labs was located in his favourite TV show, The Flash.

Realising the name and remembering the screen he'd just seen, the youth's lips started to curl upwards.

"Kid, this is the last stop. You'll have to leave…"

"I'm in the world of CW Flash!!!"

The youth suddenly screamed manically, grinning widely as both his fists were tightened above his head.

He laughed like he was out of his mind, jumping up and down.

The Train Conductor paused as he stared at the crazy youth, soon sighing.

"These drugs are even getting to the young ones. Alright, that's enough, Crackhead. Off my train, now!"

***

"Okay, let's calm down."

The same boy now sat on a curb in a random alleyway as he slapped his face.

"I really am in the world of CW Flash, huh? With a system too."

The boy tried to pinch himself a few times to make sure he wasn't dreaming.

Not that he was too convinced he was. This all felt too real.

It was like he was the main character in the novels and comics he loved to read.

"How…or when did this even happen? I was on the train like usual, off to University, then…well, here I am."

However, as time passed, his questions and excitement were lessening.

This was because he already had knowledge of this world.

Not just knowledge he'd learned from watching the show, but knowledge he could only gain by being here.

For example, he could navigate through Central City despite never being here.

'I even knew where Gardener River was despite the show never revealing where exactly STAR Labs was located.'

'It's like I've lived here my whole life despite knowing I'm from…'

Thinking this, the boy paused as he furrowed his eyebrows.

'Despite knowing I'm from…wait a minute…why can't I remember?'

Whenever he tried to recall his life before today, it was like grasping at air. Nothing would come to him.

He tried so much that it was starting to become frustrating, causing him to grip his head.

'Damnit. What's going on with me?'

But no matter how much he asked himself this, no answers came to him.

'Fuck it. Who cares? I can't remember but I have a feeling I didn't leave much behind anyway.'

What was important was what had him so excited in the first place.

'Alright, how do I do this? Status?'

Though he didn't have much hope this would work, he was proven wrong as a screen appeared before him.

[Name: Derek Bond]

[Age: 19]

[Character Status: Extra]

[Race: Human]

[Level: 1]

[Fables: N/A]

[Story Points: 0]

[Stats (Human):

Strength: 4 (F)

Speed: 3 (F)

Endurance: 2 (F-)

Intelligence: 7 (D-)]

[Abilities: N/A]

[Skills: N/A]

He paused as his eyes stayed glued on the "Human" description over his stats.

'Does it mean to say my stats are that of a human? Would S Rank be the physical condition of an athlete?'

He deduced. If so, he could only wear a dissatisfied expression as he looked at his own stats.

'Really? F rank? I know I'm not physically the strongest around but am I really so far from average?'

Derek pinched the bridge of his nose as he sighed.

It only seemed as though his Intelligence was barely average.

He knew he wasn't stupid, but it most likely meant comprehension skills, creativity, how well one can recall memories and what not.

He then looked at his character status, noting that, to the outside world, he was just a nobody.

'Nothing more than an Extra in the Story.'

'Other than that and the fact that my Stats are laughably low, there isn't much else to look at.'

Though most of the information on the screen was pretty self-explanatory, he was confused about what Fables were.

The System didn't provide much information on it, as if he was supposed to figure it out for himself.

However, the same couldn't be said for Story Points.

Though his confusion was spread to this aspect of the system too, a screen appeared before him as he wondered what it could be.

[Story Points: 0]

[System Features:

Status

Shop

Level 6 required to unlock]

'Level 6, huh?'

He wasn't too worried about the requirement any more than what he needed to level up.

But putting that aside for now, he focused on the Shop feature of the system.

[Shop]

[Random Story Event: 20Sp (1 free use)]

[Random Card Draw: 15Sp (1 free use)]

[Recall CW Story: 5Sp]

[3 Points in Random Stat: 10Sp]

[Level up to Unlock More]

As he read this, he couldn't help but raise an eyebrow as he went through it.

'Why is everything random? Can I not choose?'

[A Story that demands no anticipation or suspense is a flawed one. And there is no room for flaws or mistakes in a Perfect Story.]

'Oh, it can even answer my questions too.'

However, as he read this, his eyes narrowed.

A perfect story.

To Derek, that's what the Flash was.

Though many wouldn't agree, or any for that matter, and though even he knew the inconsistencies and imperfections that came with the flash, to him, it was perfect.

To the point where he indulged in all things CW.

The good, the bad and even the god-awful Superman and Lois series.

But they all paled in comparison to The Flash.

He didn't remember much of anything of my past, but where he had the feeling of emptiness like he previously didn't have much to live for, The Flash was like a ray of sunshine onto what felt like a dull, boring and maybe even sad life.

Therefore, he didn't care if this was real or not. If he was dreaming, he'd savour it for as long as he could.

"Use the free Random Card Draw."

He spoke, not completely sure as to what he should be expecting.

But it was free and that sounded good enough.

-FLASH!!!

At that moment, translucent card-like rectangles appeared before him, splitting into three as they all hovered side by side, emitting a light blue hue.

'I guess I choose one.'

Reaching out his hand, he took a deep breath as he snatched the middle card, flipping it over as a screen appeared before him.

[You have selected "Martial Arts" Lvl. 2]

He stared at the screen as his face slowly contorted into a dissatisfied frown.

"Well, that's useless. Maybe if I was in Star City it would help. But Central City is filled with Metahumans."

He pursed his lips as he grunted.

"Well, I guess it isn't too bad. It could be worse."

"Besides, if done right, even this will prove useful against Metahumans."

[Martial Arts: Lvl. 2]

[Description: You have the skills, in all basic forms of Martial Arts, and experience of a Pro fighter]

'Something tells me Professional level won't be good enough against fighters like the Green Arrow.'

Despite this, he soon raised his head, a long grin plastered across his face.

"So system, you want a perfect story?"

He asked, rising to his feet, not expecting much of an answer, to which he was right.

But he didn't care as he stepped forward.

"Well, we might just have a common interest."

Derek loved the CW Flash, but even he had to admit it wasn't perfect.

But now, it didn't have to be that way.

'With me here, I could change things.'

Whether it was the lacklustre plots that would come, the Flash being nerfed with stupidity or the horrible Iris West, he would fix them all.

Derek stood outside the alley in the busy street as he stared at a colossal building with fences around it, seeming as though it was abandoned.

'Star Labs. Looks just like it did in the Show.'

Derek owed it to the story he so loved. With the system's help, he could…he would do it.

"I will fix the CW Flash and make this story Perfect!"
