CHAPTER TEN-MILAN

PRACTICE MAKES PERFECT

The sky is dark blue and the stars are shinning like diamonds in the sky. Everybody on the street is rushing from one place to the other, the street lights are shinning and car horns are honking. A black V8 jeep stops by and the window glass slowly slides open, I'm met by my father's face.

"Get in here son." He says.

I get in and he drives off and I notice that he's taking a call through his earpiece, so I just seat there next to hm and look at the window. A few moments later, the call comes to an end.

"Where are you coming from? "He asks;

"Went to see a friend." I reply, looking back at the window.

"Interesting…" Dad nods. "Was it Real?"

"Yeah, so?" I ask.

"Just asking coz she's the only friend you have right now."

"You didn't have to make it so obvious. " I reply.

"Yeah, can't help it. You should know that when you get distracted then it might end up affecting your Athletic life."

"What do you mean; that I don't know what can keep me going and what can't. Do you think Real is some sort of threat?" I leave everything behind and focus my attention to him. I don't understand my father sometimes.

"Whoa, whoa, whoa, son, I didn't say that and I absolutely have no grudges against Real. I have no problem with her. But I am talking about you."

I try to understand him, but there's absolutely nothing I'm getting.

" What is it you're saying then?"

"In athletics, one needs to be double sure." He says taking out a bottle and pointing it towards me. " "So, I got you this." He tries giving me the bottle, but I try to ignore it.

"What, are you crazy, those pills nearly killed me last year."

"I'm aware of that, and it's also because you had an overdose."

I and dad argue for quite some time, and I can't stand him or his stupid pills. We literary argued our whole way through.

"I don't want your bloody pills no more." I said getting off the car. We were already home.

"Could've been easier if you were a good enough player." Dad says and it stings my heart so much that I want something to do with it. I clench my teeth and fold my hands into fists.

"Well, I don't care about how you feel anymore, because its about me, and not you." I shout.

"Milan, what's wrong with you, how can you speak to your dad like that?" I turn to see mom looking all pale and worried. She puts her arm around my hand.

"Why don't you ask your fucked up husband." I say and exit the scene.

Mom tries to stop me, but I just ignore her. I go to my room, get changed into my black hoodie and sports attire, carry my sport bag and water bottle, I then go downstairs, it's kind of windy and mom is closing the windows.

"Hey, where you going?" mom asks looking over at me.

"Where your husband fuckin' wanted me to go but couldn't go straight to the point." I tell her looking over at dad. Frowning, mom looks over at dad who seems unconcerned and looks over at me again.

"Hey, you can't go like now, just look at the weather." She says looking outside through the glass.

"He should've thought about it first before he decided to put my life on the line." I say walking past her, she tries to run over to me, but I just put my air pods to my ear and walk out the door.

NARRATOR'S P. O. V.

Scared her son would really do something to cause himself harm, Misha rushes back to her husband Alejandro.

"Honey, you have to stop him." Misha says.

Alejandro was at ease which kind of annoyed Misha; Milan was her only biological child.

"Honey!" Misha shouted. Alejandro got out of his chair, holding Misha's hands and looking her straight in the eye.

"Leave him, see for how long he practices." He said.

"If anything happens to him…" Misha begun.

"Nothing will happen to him." He assures her.

As time is going by; Misha is really losing it and can't stop moving back and forth. Thunder strikes and the sound of rain hitting the floor outside fills the atmosphere. Daryn comes down wearing her pajamas and carrying a notebook and a pen. She approaches Misha.

"Where's Mil?"

"I don't know honey." Misha tells Daryn, touching her hair and hugging her.

"What do you need him for?"

"I want him to help me with my report." She says holding out her notebook for Misha to see. "He promised he would help me out."

"Well." Misha says taking Daryn's notebook. "Well then, I'll help you. I always got straight A's in English."

"No need to brag, you've already said that a million times." Alejandro teases.

"I have to make it so obvious mommy's beauty with brains, come on Daryn." Misha takes Daryn's hand and they go upstairs. She helps her out with the report. The storm outside was getting stronger by the minute and it's making Misha nervous.

A FEW MOMMENTS LATER….

Misha comes downstairs.

"He still isn't back yet?" Misha asks Alejandro who is busy typing something on his laptop.

"Yes, probably for the best." Alejandro responds.

"What do you mean probably for the best, I'm still very worried about him. It's raining heavily."

"He's not a baby anymore. He can't say a complete sentence without cursing."

"Honey, he's still our baby boy okay, he might not be in the mood for other things so just try and understand him." Misha says putting her hand on Alejandro's shoulder. His attention suddenly shifts to her; he closes his laptop and gets out of the chair.

"How about you try calling him?" Alejandro suggests, holding Misha's cheek with his left palm.

"I've already tried for the past half an hour, but it's just going straight to voicemail." Misha explains, her eyes now watering up. Alejandro tries and the same happens. Soon enough they find Milan's phone on the desk in his room.

"But he wore air pods." Misha says.

"That means he took the one he said he didn't like and never used at all." Alejandro suggests.

It's 11:47 at night and Misha is just moving back and forth in the living room, scared something might have happened to her son and the storm is still pouting on the ground. Alejandro who can't sleep too comes downstairs; he's also kind of getting scared and worried about Milan.

"Hey, honey, you aren't asleep yet?" Alejandro asks.

"Yeah, because my son's not back and it's around to twelve in the morning." Misha says with a shaky voice, almost crying. She looks up to the ceiling to stop the tears from coming out.

"I'm starting to get worried too. Was I that hard on him?" Alejandro asks.

"I don't know. But you know Milan, you can't force him to do something he doesn't want." Misha says looking away. "And- "

Alejandro holds Misha's hand.

"Honey, look at me. Milan will be okay, maybe he's just a friend's place." Alejandro explains.

"But which friend, ever since he had a mental breakdown last year, all his friends seem to have disappeared."

"Our son's really going through a lot. Maybe Real, he was at her place earlier."

"Do you know where it is?" Misha asks.

"No." Alejandro replies. "But it was just somewhere close to the mall and I don't really see residents there."

"What about her number, or anything."

"Let's just check out his phone." Alejandro suggests.

"But that'll be invading his privacy." Misha says.

"But it's for the best. What if he has an episode?"

After thorough consideration, they decide to just check it, but they need a pin or fingerprint of which only Daryn knows, but is asleep and they think it's wise not to wake her up. She asks all the people she knows but they all have no clue. Left with no other choice, Misha decides to go live.

"Hey everyone, my name is Misha Valencia; you all know me as a fashion influencer and I'm her as a mother. Milan's mom, he's just left home and we all don't have an idea of where he is. So, if any of you hear abut him or have any clues, then please tell me that he's okay or tell him to come home. Your help will really be appreciated. Thank you all.
