Chapter 1 - Shattered Horizons

Earth Planet,

In an airplane over the Atlantic Ocean,

Stewardesses moved gracefully through the aisles, attending to passengers' needs with warm smiles. The hum of the engines filled the cabin as a young man leaned against the window, his gaze fixed on the endless blue of the ocean below. The reflection of the waves danced in his vibrant green eyes.

Lucian Vayne, a university student majoring in Quantum Physics, sat in quiet contemplation. Life had dealt him a cruel hand. His parents died in a car accident when he was just a boy, and his grandfather, who raised him, passed away last year. Now, he was truly alone. The only solace he found was in the substantial inheritance left behind—enough wealth to ensure he could pursue his studies and live without financial strain—and a peculiar family heirloom: a small, round bead etched with blue and green engravings in an unknown language. Last year, on his deathbed, his grandfather entrusted it to him, calling it "a symbol of their family's legacy that should be passed on."

Since inheriting it, Lucian had devoted countless hours to deciphering the bead's cryptic markings, driven by an insatiable curiosity. A week ago, he stumbled upon a photograph on social media. A tourist had posted on a social media platform images of an island in the Atlantic featuring a rock with engravings strikingly similar to those on the bead. Compelled to investigate, Lucian booked this flight to the island, determined to uncover the bead's secrets.

As his thoughts swirled, the intercom crackled to life, and a stewardess's cheerful voice filled the cabin. "Ladies and gentlemen, we are now passing through the famous Bermuda Triangle. Please remain seated with your seatbelts fastened. Thank you for your attention."

Lucian glanced around the cabin, noting how the announcement sparked mild interest among some passengers but went unnoticed by others. Redirecting his gaze to the window, he watched as the airplane seemed to glide effortlessly through the sky.

But then, something unusual caught his eye—what looked like thin, shimmering spider webs suspended in the air ahead. He blinked, certain his mind was playing tricks on him. The webs didn't disappear; instead, they became more defined, appearing to grow larger as the plane approached.

Unease prickled at the back of his neck. He leaned forward, trying to get a better look, then turned to nudge the passenger seated ahead of him. "Hey, do you see those... webs outside?"

The man turned with a look of irritation. "What webs? Are you drunk?" he snapped before dismissively returning to his seat.

Lucian frowned, turning back to the window. The webs were no illusion. As the plane drew closer, their true nature was revealed: cracks in the air itself, jagged and pulsating with otherworldly black energy.

Suddenly, the plane shuddered violently. Passengers gasped, and panic rippled through the cabin. The lights flickered as the aircraft swayed violently.

"Ladies and gentlemen, please remain calm," a stewardess's strained voice called out, though her own fear was evident.

The turbulence intensified with each passing second. A deafening screech echoed through the cabin as the plane's wings were torn away. Shards of glass erupted from the windows, slicing through the air. Screams filled the cabin as passengers were struck by the deadly fragments. Blood splattered across seats and walls.

Lucian acted on instinct, yanking his bag from the overhead compartment to shield himself. Even so, a shard grazed his shoulder, and warm blood seeped through his shirt. He gritted his teeth, ignoring the pain, as chaos unfolded around him. Blood started slowly dripping down all over his clothes and bag.

The fuselage began to break apart, and passengers were sucked out into the open sky. Lucian's heart pounded as he saw one unfortunate soul hurled into a crack in the air. The person's body disintegrated instantly, reduced to a mist of blood and fragments.

Through the chaos, a bright light emanated from Lucian's bag. Startled, he unzipped it and pulled out the round bead, now pulsating with an intense blue-green glow. The engravings on its surface shifted and writhed as though alive.

A powerful tremor shook the plane, and the section of the cabin where Lucian sat was torn apart. He was hurled into the void, clutching the glowing bead tightly using all his remaining strength. As he tumbled through the air, he realized he was being pulled toward one of the cracks.

"Is this how it ends?" he thought bitterly. "I haven't finished my degree. I haven't even solved the mystery of this bead. Ah! What a waste..."

Pain exploded through his body as he neared the crack, a searing agony and pain that overwhelmed his senses. The last thing he saw before losing consciousness was the crack's jagged edges radiating with blinding light.

Unbeknownst to him, the moment his body got shredded into pieces of blood after coming into contact with the crack, amid the wreckage, the bead's glow intensified. It absorbed the blood seeping from Lucian's lifeless body, collecting it into a single crimson teardrop. The bead's engravings shimmered, and with a final burst of light, it vanished into the crack, carrying Lucian's essence into the unknown.
