The air on the other side of the gate of my house started to swirl, and the ground beneath my feet began to shake violently.
Then, the swirling in the air started to grow bigger and fiercer, and a blue light began to cover its edges.
The light also grew bigger as the air inside it seemed to be sucked into a vacuum, and it started to turn dark blue.
"Holy shit!"
Suddenly, blue lightning began to flash across the blue surface of the vortex, and it grew larger and larger until it was as large as the gate of my house.
Crackle!
Crackle!
The lightning it was emitting was directly hitting the ground. It wasn't some strike that would disappear after hitting, it was constant streams of electricity.
The steams of lightning moved ferociously on the ground, leaving burn marks on the concrete.
And, amidst all that I was smiling.
My eyes were shining, and the corner of my lips was curving up.
"This is it. This is what I wanted."
The goblin that killed me and my father must have come from this dungeon-like gate from mangas because they don't exist in the real world.
Now, come on!
A big, green foot came out from the vortex, stepping onto the ground.
"Finally, you showed up, asshole!"
My heart thumped against my ribcage, and I gritted my teeth in excitement.
"I can't wait to beat the shit out of you!" I yelled, and held the baseball bat tightly.
But before the other foot could emerge, the air started to move even faster as if a big tornado was going to appear.
The dust, the leaves, the small stones, and...
What is that?
"Oh... It is a plastic bag?"
....all of them started to fly. Even my clothes were fluttering violently in the air.
But, the plastic bag was different.
"Wow, it is flying like a bird. Wait, what am I saying? Why the fuck am I praising a plastic bag?"
I shook my head and focused on the monster's leg, and raised my bat.
But, the moment my eyes left the plastic bag...
A strong wind blew, and the plastic bag that was flying around in the air suddenly appeared in front of my face, blocking my vision.
"Woah!"
The plastic bag was very thin and it covered my whole vision, and the wind made it flutter around violently.
"Damn it."
I raised my hand, and swatted the plastic bag away.
And, then I focused back on the gate...
But the scene I saw in front of me made me stunned.
In the blink of an eye, countless gates identical to the gate where the goblins were emerging had appeared in the sky.
"What the...?"
My jaw fell open.
I stood there, motionless.
"Holy shit."
The world had gone crazy.
"This is a dream, right?"
I slapped my cheeks and pinched my arms.
"Ouch!"
"Damn, it hurts. It's not a dream."
"So, it's true."
I was dumbfounded.
"Everything is really happening."
All of the gates were different from each other. Some had blue edges while others had, green, red, yellow, white, etc.
Even their sizes were different, and some were small, and others were huge.
They were everywhere.
In the sky, the ground, and even the buildings had black holes in them.
And, from those gates...
Suddenly a realization hit me.
"Holy shit!"
"That means..."
"All those things, those monsters... They are coming here."
"From the gate."
"What the fuck is happening?"
'Why are the gates appearing in the sky and on the ground, too? Are the monsters coming out of them? Or, is it just like a dungeon?'
And just then a screen appeared in front of me...
— The Divine Apocalypse has begun.
"This message..."
— Your class has been assigned.
'My class has been assigned? What class?'
— Your current level is Lv. 1.'
— The first mission has been unlocked.
— Mission 1: Survive the night.
— Rewards:
— 1000 Experience points.
— 1000 Skill points.
— 100 Random points.
— 10 Rare weapons.
— Hidden Requirement For Completion: ???
'This is...'
Wait!
"What the hell!"
"It is really an apocalypse. And, I have to survive the night?"
I looked at the screen again.
"1000 Experience points."
"1000 Skill points."
"100 Random points."
"10 Rare weapons."
"Wait a minute, Rare weapons?"
I looked at the screen, my eyes wide.
"Saya, is this reward for real?"
The blind wives module, Saya, replied, {Yes, this reward is real. I am gonna give you all of that if you survive the night.}
"Holy shit!"
Just look at the reward...
1000 experience points.
1000 skill points.
100 random points.
10 rare weapons.
And this isn't even a joke...
'And furthermore, I will get stronger as I kill goblins just like in mangas. +1 Strength, +1 Vitality, or something like that? Right, Saya?'
{No. I, The Blind Wives Module can not do that. You can only increase your strength and speed or many other things by using the experience points you have. But as of now you only have '0' Experience points.}
I was shocked.
"Wait, what do you mean?"
'Are you saying that I can only increase my stats using my experience points? And, what about the level up thingy?'
She sighed, and...
{UpFront!} Her shout resonated inside my head.
"UpFront?" I asked confused.
{There is a goblin approaching you in the front.}
The screen in front of me quickly disappeared as if Saya had just closed it, and a goblin that was running toward me came into my view.
"Oh, shit."
It was so close to me and had its weapon in the air, ready to hit me.
"Fuck."
I instinctively bend my back and squat, avoiding the club which was flying towards my head.
Boom!
"Fuck."
The goblin's club crashed into the door and embedded itself into the wooden frame, leaving a dent.
'That was close.'
But...
"Who will save you now Gobi?"
I swung my baseball bat, and smashed it onto the goblin's leg.
Bang!
"Gugga!"
The goblin screamed, and it fell on its back, clutching its leg.
I smiled.
"How does it feel? That pain."
I raised the bat and smashed it on its head.
"Die."
Crack!
A satisfying sound of the skull being cracked sounded through the air.
"Guga..."
Its head was cracked, and its brain was visible.
Blood started to pour out, and the goblin's body went still.
'Finally.'
'He is dead.'
I looked at the notification which appeared after its death.
"Is it going to show me the reward? Like 1 or 2 experience points?"
— You have defeated a Lv. 1 Goblin.
— Reward: Don't expect anything just by killing a low-level monster.
'Heh! What the hell!'
I frowned.
"Saya, is this how the reward will appear? Just a sarcastic comment?"
But, Saya didn't reply.
"Saya?"
'What is wrong with her?'
{Yeah, there won't be any reward for a simple thing like that.}
Oh, she replied.
{And also I think you are getting it all wrong. You don't only have to survive the night for completing the mission but there is also a hidden requirement for the completion of the mission.}
'A hidden requirement? What is it?'
'Can you tell me, please?'
{If I tell you that now then what is the point of having a hidden requirement? You will get a notification when the target appears.}
"Ugh! Ok."
I sighed.
"Now, let's take care of the rest of these guys."
I raised my baseball bat, and pointed the tip at the incoming goblin.
'Wow! There are a lot of them.'
"But, it doesn't matter I just have to prevent them from getting near the house."
I took a deep breath, and calmed myself.
"Let's do this."
I took a stance, and looked at the goblins, their eyes glinting with malevolence.
They were getting closer and closer, their weapons in their hands.
"Come on."
I took a step forward, and then another one, and then...
"DIE!"
I charged forward, and swung the baseball bat with all my strength, hitting the nearest goblin in the face.
Bam!
The bat landed a critical hit on the goblin's temple, and it immediately fell down to the ground, lifeless.
Because of the nails I put on the bat, scratches, and wounds appeared on the goblin's skin.
Blood was dripping out from the wounds, and the smell of blood began to fill the air.
I didn't stop there, and continued swinging the bat, hitting the goblins on their heads and bodies.
"Go to hell!"
I shouted, and swung the bat with all my might.
Bang!
Bam!
Bam!
I was able to kill quite several goblins, and their bodies were lying on the ground.
I was getting quite tired, sweat was rolling down my forehead, and my breathing was getting a little heavy.
'But, they just keep coming and coming. Will I be able to hold them back for long?'
I thought to myself but the module, Saya, spoke up and interrupted me.
{Wouldn't it be better to go to your house and fight alongside your family?}
"Yeah," I replied.
"I just wanted to kill the goblin which had killed my father. But I can't tell which one was it."
"Because all of these fucking goblins look alike."
I kept swinging the baseball bat, and killing the goblins.
{Oh, if that was your problem then you should have asked me. I can show the information window of every creature you see, and you can see their stats, health points, and their race. So, if you find a goblin whose name is "The Goblin Which Killed Your Father" or something, then you can kill it without hesitation. How about that?}
'Wait! Is that possible? Can you really do that? Can you show the information window of every monster and their names?'
{Of course, I can do that.}
'Oh, my god! That's awesome!'
"Ok, then show me," I said, a grin on my face.
Suddenly, my right eye which was black turned blue, with some lines connecting to black dots and covering the whole iris and the pupil of my right eye.
The lines were like the ones that can be seen on the green mechanical hardware chips and they were also glowing a little bit.
'Is this like blue byakugan with some lines in it? It is pretty cool looking.'
'It feels like the eye of an AI robot. And, the lines are glowing.'
'I can see them because they were filtering the light of my right eye's vision.'
'But, what are these lines?' I asked Saya.
{Oh, they are the mana pathways in your body. They are connected to the eye which is now temporarily called 'No Name' and is using your internal mana as fuel. But, you are only capable of using this eye for two minutes at most. And, I think it is better if you don't use it too much because you might end up with a headache, or maybe even worse. So, use it carefully. Oh, and you have one minute left.}
'Ok, I will keep that in mind.'
I looked at the horde of goblins which was standing in front of me and grinned.
"Let's see."
But before I could get any information, three loud thuds could be heard.
I turned around and saw a humongous spider standing on top of my house.
It was so big that the top part of its body could easily be seen from my position.
The spider was standing on its hind legs, its mouth was open, and its five legs were moving around in the air.
"What the fuck! I forgot about that one."
