Chapter 17 - Monsters Horde

[ANNOUNCEMENT!]

[Monster Horde has been released]

[Monster Horde Level: 1-100]

[Each monster horde level's reward is different]

Surprisingly, Caleb saw a notification panel that was different from before. From it, a system announcement was made.

'Apparently, the monster horde has appeared. This is faster than I thought,' Caleb said.

A monster horde was a unit of NPC enemies consisting of goblins, orcs, dwarves, and other mythological creatures that roamed throughout the continental area. Their level depends on the number of monsters in each horde.

The higher the level, the more monsters there are and the more powerful they become.

Usually, monster hordes like this only happen when the most players have raised their town hall to level 5.

But what the administrators do seems different. They seem to want to create new excitement other than war between players.

'This is just a monster horde. When did the monster chaos event happen?' asked Caleb, reflexively looking at the sky.

Unlike monster hordes that wouldn't attack if not attacked, a Monster Chaos Event happened when a horde of monsters attacked a player's town hall.

Normally, this event took place every month and happened to a random player. No one knows for sure who the target of the Monster Chaos Event was.

In that event, players were ordered to defend the city from monster attacks within a specified time.

For early town halls like TH level 3-10, the event duration ranges from 3-5 hours of battle.

From the surrounding direction, Caleb could see that there were thousands of red light pillars scattered across the continent.

Through Vision Fog, the detailed number of monster hordes could be detected easily. Still, the numbers were uncertain due to their random moves.

Some monster hordes enter the Vision Fog radar, while others leave because they exceed the talent boundary area.

But, the average number of monster hordes on this continent reached 2500.

[Talent Activated]

[Vision Fog activated]

[Vision Fog Range: 50x50km]

[2580 monster hordes found]

Although Caleb could find their whereabouts, he couldn't be sure what level the monster horde was.

Their level could only be detected when entering an area that had been explored by a scout.

From what Caleb found through the game map, he counted 670 level 1 monster hordes, 345 level 2 monster hordes, and 110 level 3 monster hordes.

For the higher levels, Caleb was unable to find their precise locations. That's because there were far fewer of them than the level 1 monster hordes.

[Friend Chat!]

[Liliana_P] [Caleb. Did you get the system announcement? I can see monster hordes roaming near my town hall]

[Caleb] [Yes. I saw it. It's best not to waste your militia to fight them]

[Caleb] [Focus on defending your town. If you're sure that your town can survive the enemy player's attack, then you can focus on attacking the monsters]

[Liliana_P] [I understand]

According to his experience, monster hordes always give different rewards depending on their level. The higher their level, the more varied the rewards were.

Near his town hall, Caleb found a level 1 monster horde roaming and wandering around. As Caleb remembered, the strength quality of level 1 monsters was the same as 10 militia.

'I'd better test them, I wonder what rewards I'll get,' said Caleb.

He opened the game map, selecting the five heavy scouts in front of the first town hall. The unit was successfully selected, along with Commander Leonidas.

[ENFORCEMENT INFO]

[Commander: Leonidas (S Class)]

[Units:]

[5x Heavy Scout]

[Idle Stance -> Agg Stance]

After setting the unit's stance, Caleb ordered the unit to charge forward. Led by Leonidas, the 5x Heavy Scouts attacked the level 1 monster horde and the battle began.

From the town hall, Caleb could see the battle happening. The battle range was 5 m from the epicenter of the battle, causing units or NPCs, or even players to be injured if they were close to it.

In the end, the level 1 monster horde was defeated. The monster horde icon disappeared from the map and the number was decreasing.

[Battle Status Monster]

[Kills: 10] [+10]

[Unit Die: 1] [+1]

[Monster Horde Level: 1]

[DING! Congratulations on killing the Level 1 Horde]

[Level 2 Monster Horde opens]

[Host can attack Level 2 Horde]

[DING! Congratulations you got the mystery reward]

[Reward sent to host's inbox]

Caleb pulled his unit back from outside the town hall. He opened the player inbox menu and saw a system notification, stating Reward Raid Horde Level 1.

He claimed the reward and displayed another panel before his face. Because he was already curious, Caleb opened the mystery reward in the form of a brown chest.

[Low level chest opened]

[DING! Congratulations, you got an item]

[50x wood]

[100x food]

[1x 5-minute speed-up Gather Resources]

'Hmm... I didn't expect the reward to be like this, yesterday it was speed up for construction. Now, speed up for gather resources,' Caleb explained.

The speed up Gather Resources item reduces the hourly production time by 5 minutes from the moment it was activated.

Since there was only one, it would only be a 1-time reduction in the current hourly production time.

However, the advantage of speed ups was that they could be used in multiples. This means that if there are 12 items for speed up 5 minutes gather resources, then when used, the entire hourly production will be completed in full.

This was beneficial for players who lacked resources, but not for Caleb.

At least, he will keep this item because he knows there will be many resources needed when the town hall level gets higher —especially technology research.

Even so, fighting against hordes of monsters has the potential to destroy troop units and kill commanders.

Earlier, Caleb lost one of his units in the battle. The total Heavy Scout units returned were 4.

"I'd better start looking for level two monster hordes so that the rewards will be better," replied Caleb.

Just when Caleb was about to mobilize his troops to attack the location of the level 2 monster horde, he was shocked through the game map that the enemy dot was approaching RedLotus505's town hall.

That was Liliana's town hall. It seemed that the woman was in big trouble.

Caleb immediately ordered the 6 Heavy Scout units standing guard east of Liliana's town hall to go attack the enemy army —CL_Ellise.

"Don't worry, Liliana. I'll come for—"

[One incoming message!]

Startled. Caleb's words were interrupted when he saw an incoming message panel appear before him. He quickly pressed the panel and saw the content of the message and its sender.

[Sender: CL_Ellise]

[Kingdom Name: _Apo_King]

[I don't know who you are, but don't get in the way of my ambitions. That cunning woman must die!]

[If you still want to protect her, then you must be ready for my consequences!]

'Tch! He talks like that like he can beat me,' said Caleb.

[One incoming message!]

A new message appeared and it wasn't from CL_Ellise. Caleb immediately opened it and how shocked he was to see that the message came from player Great_Dao.

[Sender: Great_Dao]

[Kingdom Name:_Demonic_sect_666]

[Hey, loser! Get your troops out of that fucking cunt area. If not, I'll do something you might regret!]

'Great_Dao? Wait, is he friends with that scumbag?' Caleb asked.

'Shit! The tension is peaking. I can't just stay quiet.'

'I'll destroy them all!
