Chapter 21 - New Troop Unit

[Battle Status Monster]

[Kills: 60] [+10]

[Unit Die: 5] [+2]

[Monster Horde Level: 1]

[DING! Congratulations on killing the Level 1 Horde]

[DING! Congratulations you got the mystery reward]

[Reward sent to host's inbox]

Caleb had a notification panel appear before him. From the panel, he had defeated a level 1 monster horde located near RustyAxe's town hall —a dynamic monster horde move.

He did so constantly without stopping from 2pm until it ended at half past 5pm. In total, there were five level 1 monster hordes that Caleb fought with the same units, unchanged.

Caleb used 10x Heavy Scout units to defeat them. It was easy and fast at first. But slowly, the battle became fierce as his army units were tasked to keep attacking without giving them any recovery time.

Even though Caleb lost 4x Heavy Scout units, he was happy to get five mystery chests that were automatically sent to his player's inbox.

Feeling enough, Caleb ordered 6x Heavy Scout units to ride back to the city center. As seen from the game map, the number of level 1 horde monsters around RustyAxe reached 23 horde monster units after the battle.

"Alright. Let's see what I get from this mystery chest," Caleb explained.

He opened the player inbox menu and saw five incoming system messages, one system message containing information about the battle details and the sum of the ATK and DEF stats of the two units, as well as a graph comparing the strength of the two.

From the graph displayed, Caleb could confirm that the strength of the Heavy Scout unit was still strong enough to fight level 1 horde monsters.

Caleb pressed the claim all button, making a notification panel appear in front of Caleb responding to the player's instructions earlier.

[Host claims mystery chest]

[Use the mystery chest?]

[Yes] [No]

Caleb confirmed the panel. Immediately another panel popped up filling Caleb's dashboard page, he had to get rid of several previous information panels that were not important.

[Low level chest opened]

[DING! Congratulations, you got an item]

[500x wood]

[500x food]

[3x 5-minute speed-up Gather Resources]

[2x Fragment Commander C class]

'The resources obtained were quite large if I destroyed more level 1 horde monsters. However, what I didn't expect was that I could get C Class commander fragments by just killing them,' Caleb explained.

Normally, C Class commanders were a category of commanders that didn't take references from the real world.

For example, the A Class commander and the S Class commander that Caleb had. Both came from the legends or mythology of a place.

However, C Class commanders are random commanders whose characters and abilities are created by the game administrator. Even so, a C Class commander was better than having no commander at all.

'I think it's only natural that I get a C Class commander, especially since the chest I opened was a low rank chest type,' Caleb explained.

He looked outside his town hall, seeing the level 1 and level 2 horde monsters roaming around undisturbed.

'If I kill a horde monster with a high level, maybe the reward will be better than this,' Caleb said.

'I'll do it later, not now,' Caleb explained.

He put the speed up and fragment into his digital storage. Caleb saw that the recovery process was starting to run, although not as fast as if there was medical from the Hospital.

When he was paying attention to the condition of his troops, Caleb was surprised by the pop-up notification that appeared in front of him. There were two pop-up notifications that said the same thing.

[2 Technology completed research]

[DING! Congratulations on completing technology research]

[Technology Type: Military]

[Technology:]

[1. First Swordsman]

[2. First Bowman

[First Swordsman unit opens || First Bowman unit opens]

[Building: Infantry Camp || Archery Camp]

[Kingdom Power: 5700] [+1000]

'Really? I don't feel it, is it maybe because I was too focused on the battle earlier?' Caleb asked.

He walked towards two military-type buildings, Infantry Camp and Archery Camp. Caleb clicked on the two building icons and brought up the status panels of both buildings, next to each other on the player dashboard screen.

[DING! Congratulations, the First Swordsman unit has been unlocked]

[Infantry Camp]

[Durability: 500/500]

[Level: 1]

[Units]

[Militia] [100 wood || 50 food] [15 minutes/unit]

[First Swordsman] [100 wood || 100 food || 50 gold] [20 minutes/unit]

[Technology:]

[-]

Sure enough, from the Infantry Camp, Caleb saw that the First Swordsman unit had been unlocked with the total cost required for production being more expensive than the Militia.

However, it was reasonable because the First Swordsman's ability was better than the Militia.

[DING! Congratulations, the First Bowman unit has been unlocked]

[Archery Camp]

[Durability: 500/500]

[Level: 1]

[Units]

[First Bowman] [150 wood || 100 food || 50 gold] [15 minutes/unit]

[Technology:]

[-]

There was no need for Caleb to wait any longer, he immediately produced 10x units of First Swordsman and 15x units of First Bowman.

That amount was needed to fulfill Caleb's current ambition; invading Great_Dao tomorrow.

[Unit Army Production]

[Unit Name: First Swordsman]

[Quantity: 10]

[Cost: 1000 wood || 1000 food || 500 gold]

[Unit production duration:]

[00:03:19:59]

In the Archery Camp section panel, Caleb clicks on the First Bowman unit icon to start production.

He entered the number of units to be produced in the section provided in the Archery Camp panel. The number of resources required and the duration of the unit production were displayed.

[Unit Army Production]

[Unit Name: First Bowman]

[Quantity: 15]

[Cost: 2250 wood || 1500 food || 750 gold]

[Unit production duration:]

[00:03:44:59]

'It's 5pm now, if I want to finish all the troop production, I'll at least have these two types of units by 9pm,' Caleb explained.

Caleb looked over, seeing the growing number of idle villagers. However, Caleb wouldn't worry about that.

The 25 idle villagers would change their status to First Swordsman and First Bowman troop units, precisely after the unit production was completed.

Now, there are two technologies that have not been fully completed, the technology at the Mill and Town Hall.

For Early Irrigation, Caleb will likely get it soon because the duration of the technology research is about 3 hours.

Sure enough, the notification panel reappeared for the umpteenth time. In front of Caleb, he saw the panel telling him that the Early Irrigation technology research had been completed.

[DING! Congratulations on completing technology research]

[Technology Type: Economic]

[Technology: Early Irrigation]

[Capacity: 10/worker -> 15/worker] [+5]

[Building: Mill]

[Kingdom Power: 6050] [+350]

All research in buildings other than the town hall has been completed. Caleb now only needs to wait for the Long Range Vision technology research to be completed, after which, he will research the Production Wheelbarrow technology and eventually increase the level of the town hall.

At level 4 of the town hall, the Alliance Center building was waiting to be built.

With this building, he can start forming alliances with other players without fear of betrayal —although the possibility of betrayal of fellow alliances remains.

[DING! PLAYER RANKING ANNOUNCEMENT]

[Server: Earth #212]

[Continent: Izoya]

[KINGDOM POWER]

[1. Caleb] [RustyAxe] [KP: 6050]

[2. Rain_Forest] [Wuther_Look_Eye] [KP: 2200]

[3. CL_Ellise] [_Apo_King] [KP: 1800]

[4. Jack_Hunter] [Jenisa_Great1] [KP: 1650]

[5. Great_Dao] [Demonic_sect_666] [KP: 1400]

The player ranking announcement panel appeared. It was a common occurrence, even when Caleb played this game on PC.

Normally, the system would announce player rankings once every month, but time in this world had not run that long.

'Do they announce it once a week?' Caleb asked.

'Forget that. Right now, they know how strong I am. There will be those who come to sweet-talk me, and there will be those who start targeting me.'

'I have to be careful.'
