Akira opened his eyes, feeling a chill creep through his body. The world around him was strange and mesmerizing at the same time. The sky was a clear blue, the trees were enormous with thick leaves, and lush grass covered the ground in vibrant colors. He tried to remember what had happened, but all he could recall were fragments of the terrifying incident—the truck, the rain, the impact, and then darkness.
"Am I... dead?" he muttered softly, feeling his body. It throbbed with pain but was alive.
He rose slowly, scanning the surroundings. Suddenly, he heard a rustling behind him. He turned cautiously and found himself face-to-face with a terrifying creature. It resembled a wolf but was three times larger, with sleek black fur and blood-red glowing eyes.
Akira froze in place, his body trembling. "What is that thing?" he muttered, but he got no answer except a low growl from the creature, which began to approach him with slow, menacing steps.
His survival instinct kicked in, and he turned and ran as fast as he could. He was panting, his heart pounding with fear, but the creature was quick, chasing him through the trees like a relentless shadow.
Akira tripped over a tree root and fell to the ground. He turned to see the beast leaping towards him, its sharp fangs bared. He raised his left arm in a desperate attempt to fend off the attack, but the creature's fangs sank into his arm, tearing through flesh and bone.
A sharp cry escaped his lips as he felt the excruciating pain. He tried to free himself, but he was weaker than the creature. After terrifying moments, the beast ripped his arm off, leaving him bleeding profusely.
Despite the pain and shock, Akira mustered what remained of his strength and began to crawl away. He knew that staying in place meant death. His mind screamed: "Don't give up! You have to escape!"
He didn't know how he did it, but he took advantage of an opportunity when the beast was distracted by chewing on his severed arm. He crawled slowly and then rose to his feet, limping, and headed towards the dense forest.
He could hear the beast growling behind him, but the distance between them was increasing. He continued running, the pain in his arm unbearable, but he forced himself to keep going.
Finally, he reached a small slope leading to a stream. Without thinking, Akira jumped down, and fell into the cold water that carried his body away from the beast.
The water swirled around him, pulling him towards an unknown direction. He couldn't resist due to the pain and blood loss, but he felt a sense of relief because he had gotten away from the immediate danger.
After what seemed like an eternity, the current carried him to the bank of a calm river. He lay there, his eyes closed, breathing with difficulty. The pain in his arm reminded him of what had happened, but more importantly, he was still alive.
Before he lost consciousness, he looked up at the sky and whispered softly, "I don't know where I am... but I won't die here."
