Chapter 50 - The Werewolf with Beast Ears

Corvinus walked up to the fifth floor.

He had spent most of the day wandering around, checking out nearly a quarter of the city's area and visiting about sixty to seventy wine shops. The data he gathered from each shop didn't vary much. There were only three types of wine, and all of them were fermented. There were no breweries in the city; all the wine sold in the shops was transported from elsewhere by wine merchants. The long-distance transportation and the complex chain of middlemen were the reasons why wine was so expensive. Ordinary mercenaries could only afford to drink occasionally once a month.

Corvinus felt that he was on the verge of a breakthrough in this market, which was unprecedented and offered hope for leading his tribe to rise. Although he was not a winemaker, he knew how to make wine. Fermented wine was one thing, but distilled spirits seemed to be a technology that did not exist in this world.

Of course, understanding one city was not enough to understand the world. However, his goal was not high; he just needed to capture the wine market in this city. The canyon city had a floating population of tens of thousands every day. It was not only a commercial hub but also a city of mercenaries. To exaggerate a bit, it was also a city of thieves, with the number of thieves active in the canyon certainly not less than that of mercenaries and merchants. Wine has always been consumed mainly by the lower classes, so in a city where mercenaries and thieves were active, the consumption of alcohol must be very large. The canyon city was undoubtedly such a place.

Having learned so much, Corvinus planned to start making wine tomorrow. If he hadn't been a bit tired, he would have wanted to start right now.

Snore... Snore...!!

As soon as Corvinus stepped onto the fifth floor, he suddenly stopped in his tracks. From the bed made of several tables pushed together, there came the sound of snoring from inside the bundle of blankets.

Corvinus was puzzled.

Could it be that one of his werewolves had got drunk and stumbled here in a daze?

Red hair?

And so long?

Before he even got closer, Corvinus was taken aback. Male werewolves had thick manes, but they definitely didn't have long hair. Moreover, it was red hair. Orcish men's hair was generally close to their natural color, while only female orcs had hair in other colors.

It was that woman from yesterday, wasn't it?

She hadn't left?

Corvinus instantly realized that the person in the bed was a woman, and he immediately thought of the woman from yesterday because she had long red hair. Plus, it was she who had treated Tyton and the others to drinks, so this woman must have got drunk and stumbled here in a daze.

As he approached for a closer look, he saw that it was indeed the woman, with her disheveled long red hair sticking to her fair face.

This woman was really forward, but what on earth was her purpose?

Corvinus looked at the female werewolf, who was snoring away despite her pretty face, and felt very puzzled. After all, it was strange to spend nearly ten gold coins to treat Tyton and the others to drinks just because she had money to burn.

Corvinus glanced out the window; it was almost dark. He needed to wake this woman up and send her home.

So, he reached out to grab the blanket, but suddenly, two hands stretched out from under the covers and quickly wrapped around his neck, pulling him into the bed.

Corvinus's face instantly changed. He tried to break free, but strangely enough, despite being a fourth-tier warrior capable of lifting two thousand pounds with ease, he couldn't break free from the woman's grip.

"Damn it, what do you think you're doing?" Corvinus roared in anger, feeling tightly restrained.

He didn't know this woman well; what if she was here to kill him...

Corvinus felt a bit panicked...

"Why are you so angry? I just wanted to hug you!!" Agif opened her eyes, her emerald green pupils gleaming with a hint of triumph.

In fact, she had woken up the moment Corvinus stepped onto the floor.

Watching the man still struggling, Agif released her grip.

Instantly, Corvinus leaned back, almost sitting on the floor.

"You stinky woman, what do you think you're doing?" Corvinus cursed angrily.

Since he had come to this world, he had always been on top, never experiencing such embarrassment and humiliation.

"Where am I stinky? I smell pretty good to me!" Agif propped herself up on one hand and sat up, sniffing her clothes and looking at Corvinus curiously.

Corvinus was momentarily speechless by this woman's absurdity, but aside from the smell of alcohol, there indeed was a pleasant scent.

He had smelled this kind of fragrance on his sister Ginny before.

However, while his sister's scent was milky, this woman's fragrance was the kind that could make a man blush.

"By the way, I heard from your men that you're the chieftain and that you don't have a chieftainess yet. What do you think of me?"

"Although I'm three years older than you, humans have a saying, 'A woman three years older, a gold brick to hold!'" Agif said.

Corvinus's face darkened, cursing in his heart. Cadia and those other good-for-nothings, after having a few drinks, they spilled all the details.

"You... You should really take a good look at yourself in the mirror. Thinking you can be my woman? The idea of being my woman is so grand that the entire canyon city couldn't contain it. Who do you think you are?"

"And who are you? Now that you're sober, get out of here as quickly as possible," Corvinus glanced at the woman in confusion, thinking she was crazy. They had only met once, and he hadn't even remembered her name, yet she was talking about marrying him. It was utterly bizarre.

Suddenly, Corvinus froze again. This wasn't the world he came from, and in the orcish world, love and marriage were much more straightforward. Orcs, when they liked someone, almost always married immediately.

Of course, most of the time, it was the male orcs who took the lead, and female orcs had little say. As long as the girl's parents agreed, a hundred marriages would be successful. Among the upper-class orcs like werewolves, lion-people, tiger-people, and minotaurs, there was still some semblance of civilization. However, for lower-class orcs like kobolds and jackalmen, it was all about forced abduction and rape, and even their concept of family was very weak. Even with the boar people, who had a stronger family concept, most marriages were still based on abduction, and the idea of a proper wedding was very faint.

"I like your bad temper."

"Oops, it's getting dark. I'm off," Agif glanced out the window, noticing the approaching darkness, and quickly kicked off the blanket, jumping out of bed.

"What do you think you're doing?" Seeing Agif approaching him, Corvinus's face darkened again.

"Do you get scared when you sleep at night? Would you like me to keep you company?" Suddenly, Agif asked very seriously.

"What?" Corvinus didn't react for a moment, and then he felt a bit of saliva on his face, like a light touch.

"I kissed you. Now you're mine. I'm leaving!" Agif smiled at Corvinus and then went downstairs.

"Damn it!"

Corvinus, smelling the faint alcohol and body scent in the air, felt very frustrated.

He had been kissed forcefully!

Were all female orcs this aggressive and open?

At the same time, information about this woman appeared in Corvinus's mind.

Name: Agif

Age: 13

Race: Werewolf

Strength: Sixth-tier mage, fifth-tier warrior

...

"Freak!"

Corvinus turned off Agif's information and grumbled after a while.

No wonder she was stronger than him.

He didn't expect Agif to be a fifth-tier warrior, and that was not even the most surprising part—she was also a sixth-tier mage.

What a damn freak.
