Chapter 55 - a Small Yet Big

The Eleison family descends from Gustav Eleison, the founder of the Paladin Order thousands of years ago. Many members of the Eleison family have been renowned and celebrated heroes throughout history. In this current generation, they are a small but harmonious family.

Irene Eleison

She is Sein and Maria's aunt. Ever since the passing of their mother, Seren Eleison, Irene has been a mother figure to both of them. Although she retired as a paladin early due to injuries sustained in the war against the Balrog Empire, she still teaches her grandchildren all the techniques and tricks she knows.

Taki Eleison

The eldest daughter of the Eleison family, she is an elf who acts as the head of the family. Taki has been the Eleison family's loyal guardian since the passing of Seren. She is known to never sleep, and despite being the Grand Master of the Loyal Swords Paladins, she prioritizes the Eleison family over the Paladins' order.

Maria Eleison

She is the first daughter of Seren and an archmage. Although she retired early due to falling ill, she has been undergoing treatment ever since while gradually regaining her strength and health.

Sein Eleison

The second daughter of Seren, Sein appears to be in her 20s, even though she is over 40. This youthful appearance is a result of the Blessing of Everlasting, granted to her for her victories, which causes her to stop aging and remain healthy. Her kind-hearted, cheerful, yet stubborn personality often leads people to refer to her as Seren's incarnation.

Seamus Sherwood/Eleison

Originally Seamus Sherwood, he is the husband of Maria and also an archmage of the Mage Society, having trained directly under the Grand Magus Blanchette. He and Maria were married at a young age and were known for their travels across the world.

Ray Mitzen/Eleison

Ray, originally a member of the Twelve Heroes, traveled back to his home country with his first wife, Lira Trisfallen, after their victory. However, following a successful revolution of the kingdom, he and Lira found themselves in conflict over their lives—Lira wanted to protect the politics of Merida, while Ray sought to avoid political involvement, which led to their divorce. The Twelve Heroes deplored this but understood both sides' situations. Two years later, Ray married Sein.

Jane Eleison

The eldest daughter of Maria, Jane is a knight of Fonta Aria. She is a beautiful knight loved and respected by many, despite her rigid personality.

Serana Eleison

The second daughter of Maria, Serana is often regarded as a beautiful singer. She possesses unrivaled beauty within the family, and her voice is soothing as heaven, often captivating others with her melodies. Despite lacking magical or physical combat abilities, she is a strong-willed girl who helps anyone in need, earning her the nickname "the jewel of the Eleison family."

Gilbert Eleison

The youngest member of the Eleison family, Gilbert dreams of being a powerful hero like his aunt and uncle. He cherishes the lineage of his parents, wishing to become a magical knight who inherits both Sein and Ray's swordsmanship and Maria's and Seamus's magical arts.

Arieta Eleison

The eldest daughter of Sein, Arieta is an introverted girl, which often makes it difficult for her to socialize. However, deep down, she is a cheerful girl with a kind heart. One challenge she faces is feeling inferior to her half-sister, Sheryl Mitzen, especially since she is the only child of Ray and Sein following the tragedy of her infant brother's death.

Elena Eleison

The youngest daughter of Sein and Ray, Elena has an extroverted personality, in contrast to her older sister. While she aspires to be a singer like Serana, she possesses a strong character and often rejects the idea of surrendering to fate. Her outgoing nature frequently makes her the center of attention in her family.

During a single dinner, Aina grew closer to her idol. After dinner, File could be seen waiting for her. Aina approached File and excitedly explained all the great things she had learned.

However, as they were talking, rain began to fall. Sein then approached the two and offered them shelter for the night at Eleison Manor.

Taki also insisted, noticing how tired File looked. "You've earned a rest," she remarked.

File agreed to let Aina stay at the Eleison mansion for the night. Aina was given a room that had already been prepared for her. Although the room wasn't as large as her own, it was extremely comfortable.

Taki also insisted on giving File a room for the night.

As the two finally settled in for the night, they drifted into sweet dreams, enjoying a peaceful sleep. Time passed slowly, and without anyone noticing, a year had gone by.

Aina continued to learn alongside Elena, but more importantly, she began her personal training sessions with Sheryl Mitzen, who was Ray's daughter. Sheryl was a Forgiven Shield Paladin, chosen to guard Aina at File's request.

Known for her genius, Sheryl demonstrated skills that were above the majority for her age, quickly rising to the rank of Royal Guard Paladin. She was also an old acquaintance of File and Rifqie.

During this time, she was personally recommended by the Grand Master of the Forgiven Shield Paladins.

This made Aina stand out among her classmates. As time passed, she became more skilled and in touch with the world.

One day, Aina was training with Sheryl at the Eleison mansion. The two exchanged slashes, matching each other's movements. After their training, as Sheryl cooled down, Aina noticed she seemed to be hiding in a corner.

Not far from her gaze, Aina also saw Arieta in another corner. The two clearly showed signs of avoiding each other, almost as if there were an invisible declaration of rivalry between them.

As File finally took Aina back to her dormitory, Aina asked, "File, what's wrong with Sheryl and Arieta? They look like… they don't like each other."

File immediately realized what she meant. He then began to explain, "Well, Aina, there's something you need to know."

He went on to describe the situation between Sheryl and Arieta: the two had a rivalry where Sheryl felt jealousy toward Arieta because Arieta was able to spend more time with Ray than she was. In addition, Sheryl believed that if she trained hard enough and shone among the others, Ray would spend more time with her. On the contrary, Arieta was envious of Sheryl's achievements. Sheryl was always regarded as a genius, diligent, and hardworking, while no matter how hard Arieta trained, she often felt left behind compared to Sheryl.

"Now that I think about it, it's kind of similar to how I feel about Allura, isn't it?" Aina reflected.

"Yeah, something like that. But I guess you and Allura approach your relationship differently than they do," File responded.

"I never thought about it. What do you think Allura thinks of me, File?" Aina asked.

"Well, I believe she thinks you are a good sister, despite the boundaries that set you two apart," File replied.

"I never speak to her. I feel bad that I can't help her. Do you think I should do something?" Aina wondered.

"Don't worry. Even though you've never spoken to her, it seems she knows you mean well. It's just that some people can't leave her alone. With the condition of the Whiteford royal family, let's pray for the best," File said reassuringly.

"Do you think there's something we could do for Sheryl and Arieta?" Aina inquired.

"Well… unfortunately, no, not for now. The two need time to understand each other and let go of this rivalry," File explained.

Days passed, and Aina continued her training as usual. However, news reached her and File's ears: Allura White, known for her genius and talent, had officially become a Spear of Justice Paladin Enforcer at the age of 13.

This completely surprised even File, as it made her the youngest full-fledged paladin in history, surpassing both Seren Eleison and File's own mother, Katheryne Sherwood.

While Allura's journey was still far from over, it was no secret that she was among the gifted. However, that was just public opinion; in reality, Aina knew well that her sister wasn't merely talented.

Allura trained every day and every night, relentlessly pushing both her body and mind to their limits. What people claimed to be talent and gifts, Aina believed, was truly a testament to Allura's hard work and determination.

She gently smiled as she read the news. "My sister is amazing," Aina said proudly.

File glanced at Aina, feeling neither jealousy nor resentment toward Allura. Unlike many others, Aina was one of those who truly accepted Allura as part of the family.
