"We have to go!" Those words seemed to echo in my ears and back through the open forest. Nauseated by it, I stumble to keep my balance. I glance back to see my friend, Callum, being chased by a guard. I sprinted, my knees shaky, trying to ignore the throbbing of my heart in my cheek and the blood pouring out of it.
We weaved away from the guards and eventually slid to a stop. I went stagnant after Callum hit the grass. His body had gone limp, looking nearly lifeless. I scuttled to my knees, holding his head. I look up. After I saw what I had, I instantly knew what had to happen.
