Chapter 32 - Alchemy

The atmosphere in Ye Ming's office was deathly silent. Not a single sound could be emitted, but based on Ye Ming's expression, there were numerous curses that he seemed to be spouting.

In the end, the sound finally broke the imagery barrier as Ye Ming slammed his desk.

"Damn, what kind of servant does Mother have in her arsenal?" He asked in a dumbfounded tone.

"Aren't you a Universal Overlord Realm?"

Qing Lan was at the 5th rank of the Celestial World cultivation. That power alone was already baffling for them to simply be a maid.

Yet he was now being told Qing Lan was weaker than the servants sent by Ye Qing Lei? Not to mention, they were capable of suppressing her easily?

What kind of power were they at?

"Replying to the Young Master, the servants that were sent over here are all at Origin Ruler Realm and above." Qing Lan replied, albeit somewhat frustrated.

Origin Ruler Realm was 2 ranks above her, given it was the 7th and last rank for the Celestial World realm.

Meanwhile, Ye Ming was already dazed at this point.

'Fuck, even the servants could be this powerful? Just how much more OP is the Ye Clan?' He cursed silently and wondered how the hell they got to their cultivation realm.

"All those servants couldn't have been geniuses, right? And I mean like actual geniuses and not those so-called lower-world dumb and trash geniuses!" He exclaimed in disbelief.

"Um, they consumed pills, Young Master." Qing Lan smiled awkwardly and responded. "All those servants had consumed pills that raised their cultivation to that point. Although there are no side effects, it would be extremely difficult for their cultivation realm to rise any higher."

"Yes, but some of them still continued to breakthrough, right?" Ye Ming twitched his mouth.

In response, Qing Lan nodded. Indeed, consuming pills would easily enable one to breakthrough so fast, but it would inadvertently cause them to stagnate in their realm unless one had the talent or enlightenment to advance further.

Having understood the situation, Ye Ming also realized their cultivation base might be high, but at what cost? Everything!

Their freedom was gone, and they only had longevity and nothing else. They must adhere to and obey all rules of the Ye Clan—or more specifically, Ye Qing Lei.

The others in the Ye Clan would be dreaming if they thought they could control such powerful servants.

"Anyway, where did they get those pills from?" Ye Ming changed the topic and asked. For a pill to let them rise so high and have no side effects, they definitely had to be a genius in the alchemy aspect.

Alchemy was the main sub-job for any cultivation novel theme.

They were the creator and also sometimes, the most insane people to concoct pills with many weird effects.

Ye Ming wouldn't mind dabbling into alchemy if it weren't for the fact that one must sit through X number of days to concoct them.

Who the hell had the patience and determination to go through those tedious processes? There were definitely a lot, but it was definitely not going to be him.

It was a good thing that Ye Ming didn't attempt to curse at the alchemist because Qing Lan's response nearly made him shat his pants.

"The pills were concocted by the Madam. I believe the Young Master must have not assimilated that part of the memory, but the Madam is known as the creator of alchemy." Qing Lan's gaze was filled with reverence when talking about Ye Qing Lei's alchemy.

Even if she claimed to be number 2, no one would ever dare to call themselves number 1.

"Wow, I totally did not expect that. I should ask her for some pills as well." Ye Ming rubbed his chin. He never thought his mother was an expert in alchemy.

"Young Master should really assimilate with the memories." In response, Qing Lan coyly tried to suggest he accumulate them all.

"Nah, where else can I get the shock factor from if I assimilate them all?" He shrugged in response. What excited him was discovering the unknown and coming to a realization later on.

This type of feeling was something like how a person who watched an amazing movie or drama. They would constantly rewatch them, but how could rewatching be the same as watching it for the first time?

Therefore, Ye Ming wanted to be the first-time watcher for everything unless it was something important such as the Heavenly Dao system he created. Or his love for his mother and not so much for his father.

Realizing her suggestion ended up in another failure, Qing Lan could only shake her head. "Does the Young Master wish to use the Madam's pill to increase your cultivation?"

"Nope," Ye Ming flat-out replied. "Cultivation obtained through pill is going to be detrimental."

If the pills were that spectacular, then his Mother would have long given him a bunch of pills to consume. Not to mention, the Ye Clan members would have probably all just taken her pills to increase their realm rather than cultivate in seclusion.

By then, the members would only have a high cultivation base but no solid foundation. It was a very typical cliche troupe too when the protagonist could fight someone two realms above them simply because of the difference in foundation.

To summarize, a high cultivation base obtained through crooks or other means was destined to lose to the same cultivation or a bit lower who had an extreme sturdy foundation.

Sure enough, Qing Lan agreed with his point, but her next statement shattered his prejudiced view.

"It's true that obtaining cultivation through pills is somewhat detrimental, but as long as they compensate with great martial and soul technique. Then the detrimental could be considered a joke." Qing Lan smiled sweetly.

"…"

Right, a fight never bothered to care about the solid foundation bull crap. Superior techniques win the race.

"Oh damn it." Ye Ming clicked his tongue as he happened to recall that some others were able to fight against those in a higher realm than them precisely because their techniques were better.
