Chapter 19 - Chapter 19: “Beneath the Surface”

Jake's words spilled out in a rush, each one landing like a bombshell in Olivia's mind. She felt like she was drowning in a sea of information, struggling to keep her head above water.

"The corporation has been experimenting on citizens for years," Jake said, his voice low and urgent. "They're using them as test subjects for their new technology."

Olivia's eyes widened in horror. "What kind of technology?" she asked, her voice barely above a whisper.

Jake hesitated, his eyes darting around the room as if he feared being overheard. "I don't know all the details," he said finally. "But I do know that it's something big. Something that could change the course of human history."

Olivia's mind was racing. She had always known that the corporation was corrupt, but she had never imagined that it was this bad.

As she delved deeper into the documents, Olivia began to piece together the truth. The corporation had been secretly experimenting on citizens, using them as test subjects for their new technology. The thought sent a shiver down her spine.

Olivia felt a wave of nausea wash over her. How could they do this? How could they treat people like lab rats? The corporation's actions were morally reprehensible, and Olivia knew that she had to do something to stop them.

Gavin's voice brought her back to reality. "We have to get this information out there," he said, his eyes burning with determination. "We have to expose the corporation for what they're doing."

Olivia nodded, her heart pounding with excitement. She was ready to fight, to do whatever it took to bring down the corporation and free the people.

But as they turned to leave, Olivia realized that they were not alone. Jake was standing in the shadows, watching them. His eyes seemed to bore into her soul, and Olivia felt a shiver run down her spine.

"What do you want?" Olivia demanded, trying to keep her voice steady. She didn't trust Jake, not after what had happened earlier.

Jake smiled, his eyes glinting in the dim light. "I want to help you," he said, his voice smooth as silk. "I want to help you bring down the corporation."

Olivia's instincts were screaming at her to trust no one, but a part of her wanted to believe Jake. She wanted to think that he was on their side.

But as she looked into his eyes, she saw something there that made her blood run cold. Something that made her realize that Jake's true intentions were far from pure.

"What's in it for you?" Olivia asked, her voice skeptical. She knew that Jake wasn't doing this out of the goodness of his heart.

Jake's smile grew wider. "Let's just say that I have my own reasons for wanting to take down the corporation," he said. "Reasons that have nothing to do with altruism."

Olivia's eyes narrowed. She didn't trust Jake, and she wasn't going to let him get away with this. She was going to dig deeper, to find out what was really going on.

"Tell me more," Olivia said, her voice firm. She was ready to get to the bottom of this, no matter what it took.

Jake's smile faltered for a moment, and Olivia saw a glimmer of something else in his eyes. Something that looked almost like fear.

"I'll tell you everything," Jake said, his voice low. "But you have to promise me one thing."

"What's that?" Olivia asked, her heart pounding with anticipation.

"You have to promise me that you'll trust me," Jake said, his eyes locked on hers. "You have to promise me that you'll believe what I'm telling you."

Olivia hesitated. She didn't know if she could trust Jake, but she knew that she had to hear him out.

"Okay," Olivia said finally, her voice firm. "I'll listen to what you have to say."

Jake nodded, a small smile playing on his lips. "Good," he said. "Because what I'm about to tell you will change everything."

And with that, Jake began to speak, his words spilling out in a rush. Olivia listened, her heart pounding with excitement, as Jake revealed a truth that would change her life forever.

Over the next hour, Jake told Olivia and Gavin everything. He told them about the corporation's secret experiments, about the innocent people who had been hurt, and about the corrupt officials who had turned a blind eye.

He told them about his own role in the corporation, about how he had been recruited and trained, and about how he had slowly begun to realize the truth.

As Jake spoke, Olivia felt her mind reeling. She couldn't believe what she was hearing. The corporation's actions were even more sinister than she had imagined.

But as the truth began to sink in, Olivia felt a sense of determination
