The Shadow's illusions intensified, wrapping Sophie and the detectives in a living nightmare. The forest seemed to writhe and twist, shadows coalescing into grotesque forms that lunged at them with jagged teeth.

One of the detectives screamed, her voice echoing through the forest as she stumbled through the underbrush. Sophie tried to grab her, but the detective vanished into the darkness.
