I could feel that he was no longer afraid of loneliness.
I felt a slight sense of comfort. Perhaps he really loves me... Even though I thought so, I still couldn't be sure.
He led me through an underground flower shop adorned with large patches of roses, heading straight toward the hall. "Margie, you'll love it here!"
Yes, I liked it here. It was so tranquil that it made one drowsy. The tall European-style sculptures and gardens, along with the exquisite furniture and carpets, resembled a palace. There were even artificial mountains and flowing water, and behind the hall was a massive swimming pool.
The women here were all strikingly glamorous. Lionel alone had three personal assistants attending to him, and Lisa was one of them. I hadn't met the other two yet—apparently, they had gone to procure "food." Who knows what kind of "food" they were transporting!
But Lisa alone was enough to keep me on guard, let alone the other two.
As for the men standing in the corridors, they were Lionel's bodyguards. Each one was as cold and motionless as a mummy, standing still for long periods. I reminded myself that they were essentially already dead, just standing in a different posture—standing corpses, that's all!
But then again, walking out of a room and seeing a corridor full of standing corpses was enough to send chills down anyone's spine.
"Lionel… could you, um, get rid of the bodyguards in the hallway? I'm afraid they might attack me."
"They're very quiet and won't attack anyone. Feel free to laugh and make noise as loudly as you want! Hehe…" He affectionately wrapped his arm around my shoulder and pushed open the bedroom door.
When I entered Lionel's opulent room, I was stunned.
Was this a vampire's bedroom?
I had imagined him lying in a decaying wooden coffin, but this room was as beautiful as heaven. The floor was covered in soft, comfortable embroidered carpets with large pink roses blooming across them. There were plush, wide sofas, exquisite cabinets, bookshelves, tables, and chairs…
I looked at the massive silver-white cube against the wall and guessed, "Is this… your bed?"
He raised an eyebrow, a smirk playing on his lips, and casually picked up a remote from the nearby cabinet. After pressing a couple of buttons, the cube silently unfolded like a giant box. The lid rose to about two and a half meters before stopping, revealing bright red bed curtains and bedding underneath.
"I never expected vampires… or members of the blood clan, to live in such luxury!" I chuckled dryly, circling the large bed. "Why do you close it? Do you sleep inside with the lid on? You sleep during the day, right?"
"Hahaha…" He didn't answer, just burst into laughter. While laughing, he hugged me from behind, burying his face in my neck and taking a deep breath, still chuckling softly.
His baffling laughter made me feel like my question was foolish.
Whether he slept during the day or at night, whether he slept with the lid closed or open, the point was that he needed to rest. Asking such a question made me feel like an idiot.
Embarrassed, I pursed my lips. "Lionel, you'd better stop laughing!"
He barely managed to suppress his laughter. "Alright, now that you mention it, I suddenly feel like sleeping."
"Go ahead and sleep. I'll take the chance to look around, hehe…" Being constantly hugged by him, with his icy-cold temperature, I was afraid I'd catch a cold within a day!
"But I want to sleep with you. What should I do?"
I quickly pushed him away, retreating five steps. Since my body was already sinking into the sofa, I couldn't retreat further and had to rely on words. "I… I don't want to sleep right now!"
It was fine for a vampire to sleep—once asleep, they were as harmless as a corpse. But before falling asleep, they inevitably needed to feed, and they might do some extra things, like moaning and sighing…
In the blink of an eye, he had cornered me on the sofa. His long arms created a small space, enclosing me within it. He smiled innocently and asked lazily, "Darling, do you want to know how members of the blood clan do their bedtime activities?"
Bedtime activities? Such a suggestive phrase!
I didn't want to know, and I had "no interest in knowing!"
He laughed again, a laugh so charming it could kill. His teeth were neat and white, and his smile was dazzlingly beautiful, making it hard to look away. At this moment, he didn't seem like a blood-sucking creature at all.
"Hehehe… Don't worry, I won't turn you into a member of the blood clan!"
I was so scared that the corners of my mouth were twitching. My smile probably didn't look as good as his. "That's good. But isn't it a bit too fast to talk about bedtime activities as soon as we enter the room?"
A kiss right after getting out of the car was something I could handle, but if I got locked inside that giant bed of his, whether I could come out would be a serious problem—I might even grow sharp fangs! I didn't want my dear cousin Bevis Bain to hunt me down. Just the thought of it was cruel enough!
"Baby, what are you thinking about?" His expression suddenly turned serious.
"I'm not thinking about anything. Weren't you talking about bedtime activities?"
"I was!" He moved closer, sniffing around me, his nose brushing against mine in an intimate and ambiguous way. "But the bedtime activities you're thinking of seem quite different from what I had in mind!"
I pushed myself back hard, pressing my body against the back of the sofa. He leaned in again. Damn it, didn't he know how dangerously attractive he was? Even when he spoke, his lips brushed against mine, and such subtle teasing made my heart melt into a puddle.
"Uh… that… the difference? You're not talking about… you know, that, are you?" I stammered, my cheeks burning.
"Hahaha… Hahaha…" He burst into uncontrollable laughter, holding me tightly.
How did I end up with a vampire who was a bit crazy? His incessant laughter made me feel incredibly foolish. I used to consider myself quite clever!
