Chapter 12 - Chapter 12: The Dashing Baron

After fifteen hours, every bit of information about me, inside and out, had been extracted by this guy named Dene. Even the size of the underwear I usually wear had been disclosed... This wasn't just an interrogation—it was sheer, inhuman torture!

I collapsed onto the table, groaning weakly, as he continued to interrogate me, "What kind of food do you usually like? How do you prefer your steak cooked?"

"I don't like raw beef, don't treat me like a murderer!"

The door of the interrogation room was knocked twice. "Another murder has occurred, and... the Saturday restaurant exploded. Margie is innocent!"

"Alright, you can go!" He finally showed signs of exhaustion, closed his notebook, stood up, waved his hand, and walked out.

On his way out, he casually took the ring on the table worth 150 million francs.

As I walked out of the police station, I saw a brand-new, shiny silver Lamborghini parked at the entrance.

I was just about to walk past when someone stepped out of the car. His reddish-brown hair shimmered softly, once cascading to his waist but now styled into a sharp, fashionable bob that swayed like flickering flames in the wind. He was dressed in a luxurious deep blue suit that hugged his tall, imposing figure, with a white rose pinned to his pocket and a white shirt underneath, making his face look impossibly handsome—so much so that even a god would be jealous!

I couldn't believe my eyes. A man... no, a vampire, could actually be described as "dashing"!

While I was silently marveling, I realized I had been staring for too long. "You... are that so-and-so baron? You cut your hair? Uh... the look is really cool! Truly a figure and face so striking, they could only be described as devilishly handsome!"

Seeing him narrow his eyes and his expression darken, I quickly chuckled nervously, "We humans like to compliment people this way. If someone has a great figure, we call it a 'devilish figure.' You've been in your coffin too long; you're out of touch!"

He pursed his lips, refusing to comment. "You'd do well to remember that I am Baron Albert."

Blame it on his overly complicated name. "Why are you here?"

"I came specifically to rescue you!" He leaned against the car door. "Otherwise, they wouldn't have let you go so quickly."

This was unbelievable. I retorted coldly, "Are you saying you killed someone and planted a bomb in my restaurant?"

"Hmm?" He chuckled. "I do kill people, but I never set fires. Vampires fear fire! Care to have a drink with me?"

A date... with a vampire?

"Sorry, I'm not interested."

"Last night, when you tipped that guitarist, I saved your life. So, technically, I'm your savior! You must have guessed he was there to kill you, right?" He smiled, clearly implying that if I didn't join him for a drink, I should be ashamed to death.

"You saved me?!" In other words, he killed that guitarist.

"Not just that, I also gave you a little welcome present!"

"A gift? Besides the scare last night, I don't remember receiving anything from you!"

He lowered his gaze, a faint smile playing on his lips as he propped his chin with his hand. "My kiss, and the ring you just secretly stashed in your pocket."

Hmph... A vampire's kiss? Not even the dead would want that!

"That ring belonged to the guitarist. Besides, if it weren't for that ring, I wouldn't have been interrogated for so long!" What rotten luck! No, it's as if all the misfortune in the world has descended upon me. Perhaps I'm cursed.

He opened the car door, slightly bowed, and gestured for me to enter. "This car is quite impressive. Since emerging from my coffin, I've never had the chance to enjoy such a toy! Though... it's still slower than flying. Perhaps I can help investigate the explosion at your restaurant. Those cops are incompetent; otherwise, your cousin wouldn't have resigned and joined another team.

Of course, if you keep spouting nonsense, I'll crush you, toss you into the police station, and level all of Avion while I'm at it!"

His dazzling smile was a blend of sinister charm and otherworldly allure. Every word was spoken slowly and politely, but it was the most malicious warning imaginable!

It seems I'm truly cursed by a demon!
