Chapter 68 - Mysterious Performance

"I am not a vampire, so I don't need to follow your wishes, Prince. There are many beautiful women around waiting for your invitation. Why bother getting a rejection from me?"

Kenneth suddenly spoke up, "Your Highness, perhaps the melody is too melancholic, and Margie doesn't like it."

Rui Jones, however, wasn't angry. He just shook his head with a chuckle, exuding the air of a graceful prince, elegantly and lightly turning around, silently returning to his seat.

The people around looked at me with astonishment, disdain, reproach, admiration... all so clear and unveiled.

I sighed helplessly, glancing at Kenneth with the whites of my eyes, and reluctantly said, "Thank you!"

He glanced at me indifferently, his peach-blossom face calm, his emerald-green eyes slightly narrowed, "You finally realized that I'm not just a womanizer?!"

Was he implying that his previous action was a "hero saving a beauty"?

Clearly, although I might be considered a "beauty," he was far from a "hero," at best a wolf!

Hmph, Count Kenneth with his green eyes is probably the most shameless vampire in the world! I just wonder if there's a Guinness World Record in the vampire world for him to apply for.

Don't think that by pleasing me, you can extract Bevis's whereabouts from me. With a forced smile, I threw cold water on him, "I was merely thanking you earlier. If you misunderstood, I take it back! Remember, next time you want to play the hero, choose the right beauty!"

At this moment, Kenneth's green wasn't just in his eyes, but also in his pale face!

"Hahaha..." The one who suddenly burst into laughter was none other than Baron Lionel, who was playing the cello.

God, I was starting to pity him, not knowing what I had done to always make him act so out of character.

The group of vampires around, immersed in the music, sighed in regret as the music abruptly stopped. Monica, who had been playing diligently to please Lionel, looked displeased, almost as if she wanted to tear me apart with her eyes.

Lionel stood up gracefully from the high-backed chair, placed the cello aside, and bowed apologetically, "I'm sorry, I suddenly realized that I can't continue playing this piece. At this moment, I can't comprehend how it was composed back then... Haha, I'm just too happy!"

He walked over with a smile, took my hand, and led me to the piano, "Monica, Margie hasn't given you a gift yet. How about letting her play a piece, and I'll dance with you?"

Monica's stunning face suddenly brightened, "Since the Baron has arranged it, I shall comply!"

"After all, it's a birthday party; we should be happy and enjoy ourselves, no need to be too reserved!" Lionel seemed overly excited, taking the lead and urging everyone to dance.

Elder Henry shook his head with a smile, as if Lionel was his future son-in-law!

In fact, Lionel was just helping me avoid the awkwardness of being asked to dance by a group of male vampires.

I should be grateful to him, but he also conveniently got to dance with a beauty, floating in the dance floor.

But... damn it, what was I supposed to play?!

It was truly frustrating. Not only was I not skilled at playing the piano, but my mind was also blank. Not skilled is an overstatement; in fact, I was completely clueless.

Just as I nervously sat at the piano, ready to "play randomly," a musical score flashed in my mind, followed by nimble finger movements.

Even more miraculously, my fingers seemed to have a mind of their own, automatically playing Richard Clayderman's "Love's Joy," and even I was immersed in the music.

Feeling a pair of eyes on me, I couldn't help but look up and saw Hue, still sitting in his seat, giving me a faint smile.

Suddenly, I realized that it was he who had prompted me to play—truly a divine being!

Watching the people dancing gracefully in the dance floor, a sense of pride and accomplishment I had never felt before welled up inside me. In other words, I was starting to feel proud!

As the piece ended, I was genuinely reluctant to stop.

Monica, dancing with Lionel, was utterly intoxicated. Fortunately, Lionel was only focused on the music and the dance steps. Just as I was about to stand up from the piano, Monica stubbornly held onto Lionel, "Margie played so wonderfully, let's have another piece."

Then came "Wedding in a Dream"... Finally, even Beethoven's "Fate" was passionately brought out, exciting the vampires to the point where they were almost baring their fangs to scream, followed by the cheerful "Ode to Joy," and then the popular Korean drama song "Three Bears."

Hue seemed to have lost control over my actions. I was like someone in a trance, humming a tune, and my hands would perfectly play it out.

When "Three Bears" finished, a group of vampires gathered around the piano, and Lionel was stunned.

I gave a dry laugh, "Uh, this song is a children's song, not suitable for ballroom dancing, haha... Next is Liszt's Grand Waltz, let the band play it. I need to rest my fingers!"

Everyone seemed to have just snapped out of a thrilling movie, gradually returning to the dance floor. Even I was amazed at the miraculous speed of my piano learning, staring blankly at my hands and the keys, laughing to myself.

"Tired?"

With a concerned voice, a glass of red wine was set on the piano. Although it wasn't as crystal clear as ordinary red wine, I still wanted to take a sip, as I was indeed a bit tired. However, when I looked up and saw Rui Jones's sinister face with a hidden ferocity, I quickly dismissed the thought.

He chuckled and sat down beside me nonchalantly, "You're not Monica's mother, after all. Her birthday isn't your day of torment. You should have some fun too!"

As he spoke, a claw-like hand settled on my shoulder, his gaze shifting to my neck, sharp as a sword, deep in thought.
