It has been two weeks since my one nightstand with Red. I woke up the next morning and she was gone. All that was left was her sweet scent on the pillows. I felt empty and angry, was that how the women I slept with and ghosted the next morning felt?
She couldn't even say a proper goodbye.
I felt used by Red, like she just wanted me for sex. I know that sounds so cliche coming from me. Every woman I've had sex with always comes back but it's been two weeks and no word from Red. I find myself thinking of her sometimes, her beautiful face and soft skin. I wonder if she thinks about me too, I hope she does.
The question heavy on my mind was why she left. Did I do something wrong?
"You've been in a mood all week, let it go." Micheal smirked
I wish I could wipe that cocky smile off his face. He was the reason I was in a mood, if he didn't dare me to speak to Red, I probably wouldn't have.
I spent last week looking for her. No one knew her name or where she lived, I was so close to putting up a reward offer for whoever could help me find her. It was a shame that I knew nothing about her. When two people have a one nightstand, they don't usually contact each other or look for each other. I feel a little bad that I won't see Red again or kiss her soft lips.
"Why do you care so much?" Micheal asked as he took the seat opposite my table. "It's just casual sex."
What if she was seeing other men? I feel a little bit jealous at the thought of Red being with other men. She seemed like an amazing woman, whoever got to be with her was definitely a lucky guy.
I spent the morning interviewing candidates for the role of a business analyst in my company. I preferred handling the interviews myself because I am a perfectionist and I don't want anyone short of my standards. So far, no one has impressed me. They had the same generic answers, nothing special.
"She took my blazer with her, you know that is my favorite."
The blazer was in fact not my favorite, I didn't care about the stupid blazer. I had the most amazing sex in my life with Red, it was only natural that I wanted to see her again.
"You're thinking about a blazer you can buy again if you wish?" Micheal asked mockingly
He thought I'd found someone special. Red was special but not in that kind of way.
"Does Sophie know about this?"
I roll my eyes at him. I've known Sophie since I was a teenager, our families were good acquaintances and business partners occasionally. Sophie and I have been sleeping with each other for months now. She wanted me to marry her, my parents wanted the same because she came from a good family and it was going to be a good business decision for both families. The thing is I am not ready for that commitment and I would never be, there was nothing and no one that could change my mind. It was just sex to me, nothing more.
Ever since my night with Red, I've ignored all texts and calls from Sophie. I had no interest in seeing her, I also instructed the front desk personnel to not let her in.
"I don't care about Sophie right now. I have other important things to worry about."
I went through my notes again while Micheal went on about Red and Sophie, I was done listening to him.
Who knew finding a business analyst could be difficult? I closed the notebook in disappointment, I was done interviewing for the day.
"Mr Carlton,"
I lifted my head as Marge, my secretary, walked in.
"You have one more person to interview, she just arrived."
I don't mask the irritation I felt. The interview started by 9am, all candidates were asked to come on time to avoid missing out on the opportunity.
I glanced at the wall clock, it was five minutes past ten. This candidate was an hour and five minutes late, a clear sign of laziness and unwillingness to work. If she couldn't make it to the interview on time, she wasn't worthy of being interviewed by me.
"I'm done interviewing for today," I wave my hand dismissively
She nodded and left.
"I think you should give her a chance, I know you hate tardiness but she may have a good reason for being late." Micheal suggested
I wish Micheal would stop talking and let me focus. My company was going to be awarded a huge contract in a few weeks. While I could take on the role of being CEO and a business analyst, I had to agree that it wasn't easy doing both as it was very demanding. Asides that, I want to give room for new talent and new ideas.
"Come on," Micheal urged me. "Maybe this lady might be the right person for the job. We need someone to take this job as soon as possible."
I hate to admit that Micheal is right but the chance of me giving the lady the job was slim because she already lost points for being late. I do not want to interview her, she can go home and find other jobs.
"If you don't want to do it, let me do it for you," Micheal offered
I want to take his offer but at the last minute I decide not to. Micheal isn't as strict as I am, I had to get things done myself.
