Chapter 12 - CHAPTER 12

Damian

I just handed her the bottle of Dussie and told her that I was coming back for it. Then I got in my car and left Weiss's house.

Before I got to my destination, Weiss had already sent me my new location. Right where I wasn't supposed to be.

So I got to my place and picked up the things that were important to me. I didn't think the witches would want to find themselves in my room. And even if they did, I knew some couple of tricks I could use to dissuade them.

The house I stayed in didn't have much of me so it took me less than then minutes to get all my stuff packed and ready to go. I didn't need a blood document anyway. I would be staying in their territory but that wasn't any of my business. Not that I was afraid of getting in some lady's pants.

The car I drove was a Mercedes Benz GLE, and it wasn't one of the most expensive cars in Seattle. Weiss had a Mustang that was costlier than mine. Difference was, I had bought mine off the money I made from the jobs I completed as a freelancer.

Weiss had gotten his after becoming Alpha leader. Not that I was shading him anyway. There were different means to getting something valuable.

I drove to the destination and it began to get familiar. Like I had been there before.

I had to stop the car and look out the windows to see if I right. And I was. I had followed Zelene and watched her drive away before leaving for my former place.

I confirmed the name of the street. Then brought out my phone and dialed her line.

She answered and I knew that she hadn't saved my number. She confirmed that but it was the least of my problems anyway.

I put the car into drive. "Do you live on Sesame Street?" I asked her.

"Yes, I do. Why?"

I stopped in front of the new house that Weiss had bought for me. It was a duplex painted yellow and brown. I hoped there was a pool at the back. I loved to swim.

My head turned to the house beside it. The one on the left. And I could smell her. The scent of flowers and plants. "I think we are neighbors."

"What?" she asked, and there was a note of surprise in her voice.

"Why don't you come outside and confirm it?" I said and ended the call. I opened the boot and pulled my bag out from it.

The front door to the other house opened and there she was. We were meeting again on the same day.

"What's happening?" she asked. Her blonde hair moved in the direction of the breeze.

"Someone got me a new house," I said, as she approached the short fence that demarcated the properties. "Never knew it was next to yours."

"You never knew? Then what was the call about?"

"The place looked familiar. I followed you here the other night, didn't I?"

She said nothing. Her eyes looked at the house.

"What do you know about the place?" I asked her.

"Not much. I think the people who lived in it couldn't buy it. They only paid rent."

"Did they?"

"Yeah. And you said someone bought it for you?" she asked.

"Well, my boss said he has a new location for me, and here it is."

She chuckled. "That doesn't mean he bought this place for you, Damian."

Well, she didn't know. And I didn't push it. I loved the way she smiled. It was bright. She would surely light up my bedroom, if only we gave ourselves to sex.

"I'll just get myself settled down. Didn't know we are going to be neighbors."

"Didn't," she said and left.

I found the key under the foot mat and unlocked the door. The house looked like no one had lived in it for months. It waa already furnished so I just chose my bedroom, and started setting up.

It was only when I was done and seated behind my flat screens that I realized the house must have been owned by the werewolves.

So whoever rented it, we're just people who worked for the Alpha leader, Weiss or whoever was running the show.

But how come I was staying next to the woman who had caught my attention? Could it be a coincidence or was the moon goddess trying to gladden my heart?

Well, I wasn't doing anything anyway. What was she doing? I needed to get to know her.

I shut down my screens and went out. There was a reason why I had set up on the second floor. I wanted to see what was coming for me. And witches were very bad at aiming upwards. They were only good at throwing their hexes horizontally.

And that was one disadvantage I was doing to take advantage of.

I locked the door behind me and put the key in my pocket. Then I crossed the fence and went to knock on her door.

It was her friend who answered the door. What was her name again,

Talia? Or was it Dalia?

She grinned when she saw my face. "Oh, hello there. Aren't you snooping around?"

"I actually live around," I told her.

"Where?"

"That house," I said and pointed.

"No way. I'll get her for you."

I knew I wouldn't have any problems with Dalia. She seemed to root for me. Or was she just trying to get her friend laid? Either way worked for me.

Dalia called Zelene. There was no answer, so she said to me, "Why don't you just come in and make yourself comfy? I'll get her for you."

I walked in, cleaned my shoes off the rug. I perceive the smell of another person. Male, but he left. And the aura he left wasn't a friendly one. Seemed like they recently had a quarrel. Her boyfriend?

Maybe I shouldn't even be there.

But it was too late. Zelene came downstairs and our eyes touched each other. From within, my wolf growled. I forgot every other thing and focused on her.

I knew that I had to have her. She was mine. She was my fated mate.
