Chapter 1 - 1 : The End

For something to begin another must end. That is how our story begins, with an ending.

Colin set his pairing knife down on the cutting board, and clenched his hand a few times to get it to stop cramping.

He sighed and rolled his head slowly in a circle. He had just finished chopping the vegetables for the chicken noodle soup, that was for the next day's lunch.

Out of the corner of his eye he saw something gray move behind the stove.

"Not another one!" Colin growled as he walked towards the stove. Just as he reached the stove, he heard the snap of a mouse trap.

Please be dead he thought, as he bent over to look beneath the stove. As his eyes adjusted to the shadow underneath the stove, he saw the still body of a mouse. Its neck crushed by the metal bar of the trap.

Colin let out his breath as he turned and grabbed the broom. Using the broom he brushed the trap and mouse out from underneath the stove.

The mouse was still breathing through barely. Its chest started to shake with panicked breaths.

"Sorry little dude." Colin said as he stepped on the metal bar crushing the mouse's neck. With a popping sound the head detached and rolled under a prep table.

Suddenly a dinging sound rang out. Like the kind from a hotel. Accompanying the sound a blue transparent screen appeared covering Colin's vision.

As he focused his eyes on the screen, he saw some writing. His eyes widened as he read wat was written.

"Stealth! I choose stealth!"

… Thank you for choosing the stealth status as your reward. The stealth status will be added to your status panel once the system is fully operational.

Colin let out a breath as the blue screen disappeared. He was never good at thinking under pressure. He hoped that (if this was real) choosing the stealth status wouldn't screw him over.

He shook his head and used the broom to get the mouse head out from under the prep table. Once he could see it, he looked at it closely observing the things he hadn't noticed when he killed it.

The mouse's fur had faint green highlights over its dark gray color. Sticking out of its mouth where two fangs making it look like a saber tooth tiger.

"Saber tooth mouse." Colin said with an airy laugh. "This proves that I'm not going crazy." He said to the empty kitchen.

Unless no one else can see it. He thought sarcastically.

Colin swept the trap and both parts of the mouse into a dust pan and walked to the outside door. He unlocked the door and dumped the dust pan into the outside garbage.

Pulling the door closed tight so that it would lock again, he walked back into the kitchen. He wondered when this supposed apocalypse would happen.

If what had just happened was true,( and because of the mouse he thought it was) it seemed like one of those web stories with systems heroes and villains.

There would be monsters it seems, and a status panel. But when would it happen? Colin wondered Did he have time to grab supplies and go home?

Would he have good stats? Colin looked down at his chubby stomach and sighed. Did he have time to get in shape?

"I wish I just had some more information." He said out loud

The dinging sounded again, fallowed by the blue screen.

Colin thought for a moment, then said "talents."

Talents: Every player who enters APOCALYPSE is given a talent. Some are active talents and some are passive talents.

Active talents use small amounts of mana to achieve the effect it has. They use less mana then skills do. For example a fireball talent and a fire ball skill, may do basically the same thing. Hurle a fireball at an enemy. However the skill will use 50 mana to first cast it, while the talent would only need 5.

Passive talents on the other hand, boost skills of a type. For example the passive talent phoenix flame, boosts fire spells by 50% with no additional mana cost.

All talents are graded F-S. Additional S's may be added if the talent exceeds certain levels. Example of grading {-F/F/F+} {-E/E/E+} {-D/D/D+} {-C/C/C+} {-B/B/B+} {-A/A/A+} {-S/S/S+} {-SS/SS/SS+}

There are growth talents as well, but they are rarely seen. You will be given the information on those if you receive one.

Colin blinked his eyes a few times, as he finished reading the status panel page.

He took a minute to digest what he had read. Based on a few of the paragraphs he had read so far, Colin figured that he would get more information about the things that he needed to in the future.

"Let's move on to classes." He said

Classes: classes are like the jobs of your world, just more important. Your class determines how you will survive APOCALYPSE.

Classes are graded from common to godly. The scale is as fallows: common, uncommon, rare, ultra rare, epic, legendary, mythical, and godly.

For example the mage class is a common grade class. The fire mage however is a uncommon graded class.

Classes can be evolved through quests or materials. To evolve a class you must first have a few skills in the desired direction of the evolution.

An example would be having the mage class and the fireball skill would allow you to get the quest to evolve into the fire mage class.

Your first class will be given at level 5. Your choices of class will be based on the skills and statuses you acquired before level 5.

The levels you can evolve your class at are as follows: level 10, level 20, level 35, level 55, level 80, and level 100.

Each class has additional status points and skill points given per level up. The number will vary based on the grade of the class, and the status the class uses as its base.

"I guess all that's left is the history of apocalypse." Colin said wondering how long this would be.

History of APOCALYPSE: your world has had APOCALYPSE in the past. APOCALYPSE comes so players can get stronger. APOCALYPSE comes so the players can protect themselves and their world. Level up quickly. To level up you need experience points. You get experience points from killing enemies.

Some enemies have magic cores. These cores can be used in a variety of ways. They can…
