Chapter 1 - 1. The start of it all

It was a beautiful afternoon in the city of Heria, baby birds chirped while waiting for their mothers.

Buildings towered over the heads of every being present in the business district of Heria.

The building's size represented each company's size and rate of success.

The better more luxurious companies would have taller buildings, while the less fortunate ones would be less massive but still wondrous.

The glass reflected the sun off of each one; a man could be seen leaving a large building, one that visibly towered over every building in the business district.

He wore a black suit and tie, with a white shirt underneath.

His face looked distressed, and his hair disheveled.

He raised his hand at the road, his anxiety visible on his face.

A taxi pulled near him, the driver stepping outwards of the car, and opening the door for the man.

The taxi driver greeted the man, trying to look as professional as possible, "Afternoon, sir where would you like to go?"

The disheveled-looking man looked to be exhausted; his eyes, a bright shade of blue, were further accentuated by the dark bags hanging below.

A raspy voice that appeared almost emotionless stated a location in the residential district.

The driver then entered the location in his GPS and opted to stay quiet for this particular passenger.

The disheveled-looking man looked outwards of the car.

The image changed fast outside the taxi, the sun setting below the mountains was the only constant.

The sunset produced a beautiful golden glow, with slight hues of reddish orange.

The car after a short while stopped, the driver exited the vehicle first opening the door for the passenger.

He walked out, handed the man a large bill, and walked away.

The taxi driver then smiled and left.

The man then walked towards his home, its appearance much more tidy, and sophisticated, than his current appearance would have suggested.

A woman opened the door seeing the man in the driveway.

A smile on her face, while she opened the door ran up to him and screamed with joy.

"Welcome home honey!"

Her smile spread to the man, his previous anxiety cured by his wife's soothing presence.

The man then asked, "Hey honey, how was work?"

"It was wonderful, I finally got through to that stubborn lady at the orphanage, and got her to increase the monthly allowance."

"That's wonderful honey, we should celebrate."

The man then kissed his wife, his expression filled with nothing but love and adoration for his wife.

However, he had yet to tell her what had happened at his work.

To keep her from shock he asked her to sit down,

He held her hands while speaking, making direct eye contact.

His eyes bore a sense of sadness and resolve.

As he opened his mouth a loud noise was heard right in front of him.

An explosion-like noise, caused him to flinch.

In front of him was a hole, his house was split in half. His wife only remains where the hands that he held.

They clung to him as if alive, the warmth still there but her body was nowhere to be seen.

Blood spurted from the left over limb, and a crimson liquid spilled all over the floor.

The man's expression then appeared lifeless, as if he couldn't even comprehend what had just happened.

His mind was a fractured mess, it had happened so suddenly that he didn't even have time to process what had just happened.

She was there one moment then gone the next.

His eyes than filled with tears, his face red with rage, while he fell to his knees.

Men of all sorts came from the sky, the flew with nothing but their abilities.

They grabbed the man taking him toward the nearest hospital.

The sun was completely set, as he entered the hospital. The doctor i sowcted him, mumbling something that the man couldn't even process do to the sheer amount of distress his mind was in. Outisde of the room the men that brought him told the doctor the situation and where they found him. The doctor was shocked by the sheer absurdity if the situation and it could be seen on her face. She stated to the men that he was most likely in shock, there appeared to be nothing physically wrong with him even though there was blood everywhere. His mind just needed time to process what had happened, and in the future numerous amounts of psychological help and he would recover. Of course the man had heard nothing of the conversation. His kind was in shambles trying to piece together what little it could. His subconscious tried to bury the memories but the sheer amount of emotions that where surrounding them stopped it from acting. The man stayed in that hospital room for months. Doctors, psychiatrists, other patients. All had tried to talk to him with no success. Until one day he just snapped, somehow he could hold a conversation. He could speak, and he seemed to be not held down completely by his trauma as he was in the past. Psychiatrists, and doctors alike all stared in wonderment at him. They released him from the hospital on a probationary period. He still had to come for daily check ups, but they thought it would be best for him to be moving. As well as having a change of environment to help his mind refresh.
