Chapter 7 - Chapter 7: The First Mission

The next morning, the children gathered in the main hall of the Hand Clan base, their faces a mix of anticipation and unease. The head ninja stood at the front, his voice sharp and commanding as he delivered the day's announcement.

"Today, you will embark on your first missions," the ninja declared. "You will operate in your assigned groups. Your animals are not yet ready to accompany you, so they will remain here for the time being. Remember, failure is not an option."

Tomura glanced at Kurogiri, who gave him a confident nod. Toshiro and Tatsuya exchanged determined looks, and Hitomi adjusted the gloves she always wore, her face calm but focused. Their group was assigned an assassination mission to eliminate a Yakuza faction occupying a dilapidated building in the city outskirts.

As they made their way to the transport vehicle, the group discussed their plan. The briefing had provided limited information, so they would need to rely on their skills and instincts. The drive was silent but tense, each member lost in their thoughts.

Halfway to their destination, the tension broke when Toshiro hesitantly spoke. "I think it's time we all reveal what we can do," he said, glancing around the group. "If we're going to trust each other with our lives, we should know what everyone brings to the table."

Tomura was the first to respond. He held up his gloved hand, pulling it off to reveal pale fingers. "I can decay anything I touch," he said quietly. "But I have to use only four fingers. If all five touch, I can't stop it."

Kurogiri followed, extending his hand and demonstrating a small portal that flickered into existence before vanishing. "I can create portals," he explained, "but I can't always control where they lead. It's... unreliable for now."

Toshiro nodded. "That's useful. As for me, I can control minds—temporarily, at least. But it only works if I maintain eye contact."

Tatsuya smirked. "I can duplicate myself," he said, crossing his arms. "Two, three, sometimes more copies of me, all able to fight."

Finally, all eyes turned to Hitomi. She smiled faintly, raising her hand to the sky. A small cloud formed above their vehicle, releasing a gentle drizzle. "Weather control," she said simply. "But I'm still learning how to make it precise."

Their shared revelations lightened the atmosphere, forging a stronger bond among the group. When they arrived at the Yakuza hideout, they were ready.

The building was a crumbling relic, graffiti covering its walls, and broken windows lining its façade. The group approached cautiously, staying hidden in the shadows. Toshiro took the lead, his piercing gaze scanning the area.

"I'll take out the guards," he said. His eyes locked onto the nearest sentry, and the man froze, his weapon dropping to the ground. Toshiro's voice was low but commanding as he ordered the guard to step away from the door. The man obeyed without question, his movements robotic.

Once inside, Tatsuya created two duplicates of himself, sending one to scout ahead. The clone returned quickly, reporting back on the positions of the Yakuza members inside.

"There are about twenty of them," the clone said before fading into nothingness. "Most are on the second floor."

Tomura nodded. "Kurogiri, can you portal us up there?"

Kurogiri focused, a swirling vortex forming in front of them. "I'll try," he said. The portal opened to a dimly lit corridor on the second floor, and the group stepped through cautiously.

The Yakuza were caught off guard. Hitomi raised her hand, summoning a gust of wind that knocked several men off their feet. Tatsuya and his duplicates engaged in hand-to-hand combat, overwhelming their opponents with sheer numbers. Toshiro used his mind control to turn the enemies against one another, creating chaos in the ranks.

Tomura moved with precision, avoiding unnecessary contact as he activated his Decay Quirk. A single touch was enough to disintegrate weapons, walls, and even the floor beneath their enemies' feet. The Yakuza fell into disarray, their confidence shattered by the group's combined abilities.

As the last of the Yakuza were subdued, the group regrouped, breathing heavily but victorious. The mission had been a success, but the weight of what they had done lingered in the air.

"We did it," Hitomi said softly, her eyes scanning the room. "But this... this is only the beginning, isn't it?"

Tomura nodded, his expression grim. "Yes," he said. "And it's only going to get harder from here."

The group returned to the Hand Clan base, their bond stronger than ever. They had proven themselves capable, but they knew the challenges ahead would test them in ways they couldn't yet imagine. For now, they would rest and prepare for whatever came next.

Their first mission had awakened something in each of them. The thrill of success was intoxicating, but the gravity of their actions weighed heavily as well. Over the next few days, they trained harder than ever, their bond deepening as they prepared for future missions.

Tomura often found himself reflecting on the mission, his mind replaying every moment in vivid detail. Kurogiri, too, seemed lost in thought, though he maintained his usual calm demeanour. Toshiro and Tatsuya threw themselves into their training, determined to refine their abilities, while Hitomi spent hours studying weather patterns and practising her control.

The Hand Clan wasted no time assigning the group to their next mission. This time, they were tasked with infiltrating a high-security facility to retrieve sensitive information. The mission would require stealth, precision, and absolute teamwork.

As they gathered to discuss their strategy, Tomura took the lead, outlining a plan that maximised each member's strengths. "We'll split into pairs," he said. "Kurogiri and I will handle the guards. Toshiro, you'll use your mind control to access restricted areas. Tatsuya and Hitomi, you'll cover our escape."

The group nodded in agreement, their confidence bolstered by Tomura's leadership. They knew the mission would be dangerous, but they were ready to face whatever challenges lay ahead.

The journey to the facility was uneventful, but the tension among the group was palpable. Each member silently reviewed their role, their determination etched into their expressions. When they arrived, the facility loomed before them, a fortress of steel and concrete.

Kurogiri opened a portal, and the group slipped inside undetected. The interior was a maze of corridors and security checkpoints, but Toshiro's mind control proved invaluable. With a single glance, he commanded the guards to grant them access, clearing their path with ease.

As they reached the central server room, Tatsuya created duplicates to stand guard, while Hitomi summoned a dense fog to obscure their presence. Tomura and Kurogiri worked quickly to extract the data, their movements precise and efficient.

The mission was proceeding smoothly until an alarm sounded, shattering the silence. Guards swarmed the facility, their weapons drawn. The group sprang into action, their training kicking in as they fought to escape.

Tomura's Decay Quirk proved devastating, disintegrating walls and creating barriers to slow their pursuers. Kurogiri's portals provided a means of escape, though their destinations were unpredictable. Toshiro's mind control sowed confusion among the guards, while Tatsuya and his duplicates created a formidable defence. Hitomi's weather manipulation unleashed a storm within the facility, lightning striking with precision to incapacitate their enemies.

Despite the chaos, the group managed to escape with the data, their mission a success. As they regrouped outside the facility, their relief was palpable. They had faced their greatest challenge yet and emerged victorious, their bond stronger than ever.

Back at the Hand Clan base, the group reviewed their mission, analysing their performance and identifying areas for improvement. Each member was determined to grow stronger, their experiences shaping them into a formidable team.

For Tomura, the missions were more than just tests of skill—they were a path to understanding his own abilities and potential. For Kurogiri, they were an opportunity to refine his control over his portals. For Toshiro and Tatsuya, they were a chance to push the limits of their Quirks. And for Hitomi, they were a way to master her powers and prove her worth.

As the group prepared for their next mission, they knew the road ahead would be fraught with danger. But they also knew they had each other, and together, they could face anything.
