Chapter 10 - Chapter 10

### ** SCENE 46: UNDERGROUND UNIVERSITY LABORATORY - DIRECTOR SINCLAIR'S OFFICE

Principal Sinclair, full of malicious intent, watches everything with a smile on his face, his eyes twinkling with a mixture of satisfaction and ambition.

Alongside Sinclair, Dr. Maddox presents the latest advances with a wary expression, while other assistants work frantically on experiments.

Dr. Maddox (with a mixture of pride and tension in his voice):

— "Sir, the results are promising. With the advancement of nanotechnology, we have managed to store Etheris particles in a stable biotechnological structure. These particles, which were previously scattered in the environment, can now be captured in significant quantities. However, there are still few of them, which limits us to just... ten viable containers."

Sinclair (raising an eyebrow, smiling mischievously):

— "Ten? Ah, Dr. Maddox, that sounds almost poetic. Ten recipients, ten chosen. The beginning of something great, don't you think?"

Dr. Maddox (hesitant):

— "Yes, sir, but there are some limitations. As predicted, the Etheris particles present in the atmosphere are rare and extremely difficult to capture directly. Our analysis suggests that it is much easier to extract these particles from students who already have them embedded in their cells."

Sinclair (in a sarcastic tone, crossing his arms as he walks around the laboratory):

— "Ah, so we're stealing from children now? How exciting."

The scientist smiles awkwardly, aware that Sinclair's irony brings no real empathy.

Dr. Maddox (more serious):

— "Unfortunately, sir, yes. The Etheris particles have integrated into the cellular nucleus of these individuals in such a way that, by extracting them, we run the risk of destroying their own vital cells. In other words, without these particles, they not only lose their powers, but also... may die."

Sinclair (with a smile that mixes fun and cruelty):

— "Die? As I always say, Dr. Maddox, all progress has a price. What a shame that the price, this time, is a handful of unnecessary students."

The director laughs coldly, walking over to one of the holographic screens that shows the molecular structure of Etheris particles.

Sinclair (studying the hologram with mock awe):

— "So, to summarize, extracting these particles from students is more efficient than taking them from the environment? And why exactly?"

Dr. Maddox (explaining, a little more relaxed now that Sinclair is interested):

— "Because the particles in the environment are very dispersed and in constant movement. Even with advanced nanotechnology, capturing them directly consumes more energy and time than extracting them from individuals' cells, where they are already integrated. It's like trying to catch the wind with your hands, while directly extracting it from a person is like getting water from an already wet stone."

Sinclair (laughing softly):

— "Well, look, we have alchemists among us. Turning people into fuel for the future. Isn't that brilliant?"

Dr. Maddox (with a slight hesitation):

— "We are still encountering resistance with one of the individuals... Andrew Star. None of our technologies have been able to even touch his particles. It seems that his body has created some kind of barrier against any extraction attempts."

Sinclair (getting more serious, his eyebrows arched with interest):

— "Ah, Andrew... This boy has always been an unknown. Maybe there's more to him than just his nuclear powers. Keep monitoring. I want to understand what makes him impenetrable."

The scientist hesitates for a moment before continuing.

Dr. Maddox (cautious):

— "As for the other three we selected for the testing phase, the progress is more... satisfactory. We have managed to extract a significant amount of the particles from two guys and the girl. However, as predicted, the process is slowly weakening their bodies . If we continue, they will lose their powers completely. And possibly their lives."

Sinclair (looking at Maddox with a mixture of impatience and curiosity):

— "And why should we care? If they are too weak to survive the process, they do not deserve the power they carry."

Dr. Maddox (trying not to show his concern):

— "Yes, sir. However, there is... a small side effect. If we extract everything, their bodies could go into cellular collapse, which could cause a chain reaction. We can't predict if this would affect other people close to them at the moment of…death."

Sinclair (with a dark smile, walking around the room):

— "Chain reaction, huh? Well, maybe that makes it even more interesting. One final spectacle before the end."

Sinclair's eyes light up as he watches the monitors that display the constantly moving particles inside the students' bodies. He turns to Maddox with a determined expression.

Sinclair (in a cold and calculating tone):

— "Continue with the experiments. I want to know the limit of each of them. And as for Andrew, increase the efforts. He is the key to something bigger, I feel that. And, of course, keep the others in line, but in a ... discreet. We don't want students to become suspicious too soon."

Dr. Maddox nods, but his face still reflects uncertainty. Sinclair, however, leaves no room for hesitation. He is a man with a clear goal.

Sinclair (in a low but sharp tone as he leaves the room):

— "Remember, Dr. Maddox... we're creating gods here. And gods aren't born without a little destruction."

Sinclair (with a puzzled smile, watching the guard):

— "Dr. Maddox, a simple question: can we choose the type of power that Etheris particles confer when introduced into an individual? Or is the process completely random?"

Dr. Maddox (adjusting his glasses and consulting notes, with a professional tone):

— "It depends, sir. Currently, the process is more a matter of luck than choice. The particles integrate into the cellular system, and while some powers are more common, others are unpredictable. We are trying to develop a method to direct these powers, but for now we do not have full control over it."

Sinclair (with a calculating look and a sadistic smile):

— "I see. So, there is still a certain element of unpredictability. All right, let's test the process with one of my guards. Prepare him for the introduction of the particles."

Dr. Maddox and his team quickly prepare an injection machine, a device that glows blue when Etheris particles are inserted. The guard is placed on the operating table while the equipment is adjusted to administer the injection.

Guard (visibly nervous, but trying to maintain his composure):

— "Sir, what should I expect?"

Sinclair (with a cool, encouraging tone):

— "Pain. Severe pain. But think of it as an investment. Soon, you will be more powerful than you ever imagined."

The machine begins to inject the particles into the guard's body, who immediately begins to convulse in pain. His muscles twitch and he screams, but there is no relief. The process is agonizing, but in the end, the guard seems to gain control over his new power.

Dr. Maddox (watching carefully as the monitors show the changes in the guard's body):

— "We are registering an activation of the particles. The guard now has temporary powers. In this case, duplication and super strength, with an expected effect of 48 hours."

Sinclair (with a sinister smile, turning to the guard):

— "Very well. Now, to test the effectiveness and strength of these new powers, I wish for you to demonstrate your abilities. Kill one of our security guards with your power. Show us what you can do."

The guard hesitates for a moment, fear evident in his eyes, but loyalty to Sinclair keeps him going. With extraordinary strength and a newly acquired ability to duplicate his own form, he duplicates himself, and then the original attacks another security guard with a punch that pierces his chest and rips out his heart in the process, the act is brutal and fast. . All the scientists were stunned and frightened by the bloody situation, but Sinclair didn't even blink once when he witnessed the moment. While the original guard is looking at his hands holding the still beating and bleeding heart, his duplicate is taking the dead body to the ground to get rid of it.

Sinclair (watching with satisfaction as the original guard is back at the table, wiping his hands):

— "Impressive. The strength is remarkable, and the ability to duplicate is exactly what we were looking for. Now, Dr. Maddox, I have a new requirement."

Dr. Maddox (looking at Sinclair, a little tense):

- "Yes sir?"

Sinclair (with a threatening and decisive tone):

— "I want you to work on making these powers permanent. I don't want any more of these temporary powers. The ability to make these powers permanent is essential to our plans. Redo the process, adjust the formulas, and ensure that when these individuals receive their powers, they keep them forever. I won't accept less."

Dr. Maddox (nodding quickly, his voice full of urgency):

— "Understood, sir. We will work on this immediately. But, sir, there may be risks associated... the process may... cause significant side effects."

Sinclair (looking at Maddox with coldness and disdain):

— "Side effects? Dr. Maddox, remember what we are building here. If some suffer, it will be an acceptable price for creating something truly great."

Dr. Maddox (nervous but determined):

— "Yes, sir. We will work to minimize risks and maximize effectiveness."

Sinclair walks away, pleased with the progress and determination of his subordinates. He watches the team work, his mind buzzing with plans and strategies for the future.

Sinclair (mumbling to himself, with a dark smile):

— "We're just getting started, and the best is yet to come."

The laboratory continues its frenetic activity as Sinclair, satisfied with progress, begins to plan the next step in his relentless ambition.

### **SCENE 47: SOLARIS UNIVERSITY REFEITORY – AFTERNOON

The four friends gather at a table in the corner of the cafeteria, away from the crowds of other students. Alexys, looking carefree, sits cross-legged on the table, while Ethan appears focused, drumming his fingers on the arm of the chair. Jordan throws an apple in the air, as if he had little interest in the day's progress, while Ema seems more shy, observing her colleagues with a certain nervousness.

Alexys (sighing ironically):

— "Well, guys, I tried to convince our favorite goth to join the cause, but he was a pain in the ass. Ryan is so full of drama... he looks like he wants to be the protagonist of a sad movie."

Jordan (laughing and biting the apple):

— "Ah, Ryan? This guy has a bit of an 'I am the darkness' vibe. He was probably listening to some band no one else knows about while you were trying to talk to him."

Ethan (in a serious but sarcastic tone):

— "Honestly, I haven't found anyone helpful either. People are more concerned with their own interests...or with Sinclair. Everyone seems to be on alert except us."

Alexys (staring at Ethan, provocatively):

— "Ah, nerd, don't worry so much. We'll find allies. There's always someone willing to sell themselves for a good reason. Or a good blackmail."

Ema, who until then had been quiet, looks at the three of them with some hesitation, but finally decides to speak.

Ema (a little shy, but determined):

— "Actually... I found someone. It's a girl, her name is Georgie. She's super intelligent and... controls telekinesis. I think she could be very useful for us."

Alexys (raising an eyebrow, interested):

— "Georgie, the antisocial blonde? Oh, that girl barely looks up from her laptop. What made her listen to you?"

Ema (embarrassed, looking away for a moment):

— "I... I kind of got to talk about her past, I guess. She has something... something that she's always looking for. So, we kind of connected."

Ethan (curious):

— "How did you connect? She's one of the most closed-off people in this place."

Ema (more confident now):

— "I just realized that she was bothered by something. So I talked a little about my own past. She seemed to understand and said she would help if we needed it. I don't know if I can trust her 100%, but... it's the best we can do until now."

Alexys (giving a malicious laugh):

— "Look, Ema is getting good at making friends. She's getting the hang of manipulating people, huh?"

Ema (blushing a little, but responding):

— "I'm not manipulating anyone! I just... I think she can be useful. And maybe we can help her too."

Jordan (stopping playing with the apple, more serious now):

— "Well, telekinesis and intelligence seem like a good combination. And if you managed to achieve it, Ema, it's because there's something more. But we have to be careful... nobody helps for free."

Ethan (thinking out loud):

— "Sinclair sure has his eye on people like her. He's not stupid. If he knows we have someone with telekinesis on our side, he might try to interfere."

Alexys (crossing her arms, with a provocative smile):

— "It just makes things more fun, don't you think? If the old man is playing, we play better."

Jordan (smiling):

— "You just want to see the circus burn down, Alexys."

Alexys (laughing loudly):

— "Of course, darling! I'm the wind, I love to feed the flames."

Ethan (interrupting, seriously):

— "Now we have to think strategically. Georgie can be an asset, but we also need to know how exactly she will help us. And what Sinclair is planning."

Ema (looking at everyone, more confident):

— "Georgie said she could help with information, especially if we have to mess with technology or internal systems. She's good with that."

Alexys (satisfied, getting up from the table with a mischievous smile):

— "Well, then we have a brain with telekinesis on the team. That's already a breakthrough. We'll keep looking, but... I think we're starting to form something interesting."

Jordan (raising the apple as if toasting):

— "To the unlikely alliances, then. And, of course, to the mess we're going to cause."

Ethan (with a smirk):

— "That's if we survive it."

Alexys smiles, crossing her arms with her usual carefree attitude, while Ema watches the group, feeling a small victory for having managed to bring someone to the team. Now, with Georgie on their side, the game begins to take on a new dimension.

SINCLAIR OFFICE

Sinclair sits in his large leather chair in the center of his luxurious office. He's wearing an impeccable suit, as always, but he's eating something completely mundane: a simple sandwich with ham and cheese. His eyes, however, show the shine of someone who is always scheming something much bigger. He chews slowly, enjoying the silence and calm of the office. Around him, trophies, medals and photos from his youth frame the room, creating a contrast between the glory of the past and the manipulation of the present.

A notification on your computer interrupts your meal. He takes a final bite of his sandwich, wipes his mouth with a napkin, and clicks on the message.

EMAIL FROM DR. MADDOX: "Director Sinclair, the situation in the laboratory has evolved. We managed to extract the last particles of Etheris from boy 1045. However, he did not survive the procedure. Now there are only three left: girl 1087, boy 1053 and Andrew. We still need two or three more sources to guarantee the project's sustainability."

Sinclair lets out a sarcastic sigh, as if he were amused by the death of a student like someone amused by a malicious joke.

Sinclair (talking to himself, with a tone of contempt):

— "Science is a beautiful thing... if it weren't so tragic for the weak."

He stands up slowly, smoothing down his suit as if he's preparing for a big event. He walks over to the mirror, adjusting his tie with a slightly disturbing smile on his face. The death of a student doesn't affect him in the slightest, but he knows he needs to speed up the process.

Sinclair takes out his phone, pressing a few buttons as he paces back and forth. He connects to Professor Michael's internal line, who was in his office preparing the previous day's assessment reports.

Sinclair (sarcastic, but with that almost theatrical charm):

— "Michael, my dear! I hope I'm not interrupting anything important... anything other than educating these little misfits. I have a new task for you. Get ready, because we're going to raise the level of competition."

Professor Michael answers on the other end, his voice somewhat nervous but obedient.

Michael (formally):

— "What do you have in mind, sir?"

Sinclair walks to his office window, which overlooks the back of the university. There is a vast forest, dark and dense, with trees that stand like ancient guardians of the region. He watches the forest as if it were a chessboard, and his students, the pieces he is about to sacrifice.

Sinclair (with a mischievous smile, while savoring every word):

— "The next activity will be in the forest behind the university. Nothing like nature to reveal true survival potential, right? I want the best students to face each other. Let's see what they're really capable of. Maybe even... some get lost along the way, don't you think?"

Michael (hesitant):

— "I understand, sir. Should I establish some limit or control, considering the... risks?"

Sinclair lets out a low laugh, full of sarcasm.

Sinclair (cold but theatrical):

— "Limits? Michael, my dear, limits are for the weak. I want to see who really deserves to be at the top. Who can survive without the help of others. And you know what they say... the forest has its own predators ."

He stops, as if pondering something, and then continues:

Sinclair (serene but mischievous):

— "We need two or three more students, Michael. Etheris extraction is working, but the recent death... has complicated things a little. I want the top ten to be challenged in ways they never imagined. Let's make sure the top ten strong be... selected."

Michael (obedient but nervous):

— "Yes, sir. I will prepare the activity immediately. The forest will be... the perfect stage."

Sinclair hangs up the phone and sits back down, picking up the half-eaten sandwich and looking at it with disinterest before tossing it in the trash. Your mind is racing a mile a minute, calculating every step, every movement.

He whispers to himself, as a sinister smile forms on his lips.

Sinclair (mumbling):

— "Let's see who can survive the true test. And, of course, who will be worthy of... giving more power to the project."

He relaxes in his chair, fingers tapping lightly on the table, like a conductor about to conduct a deadly symphony.

### **SCENE 48: SOLARIS UNIVERSITY REFEITORY – AFTERNOON

The cafeteria was in its usual morning chaos. Students with superpowers mingled around the tables, some exhausted from previous activities, others discussing their conspiracy theories about the upcoming challenges. Alexys, Ethan, Jordan, and Ema were sitting together, discussing in hushed tones about their attempts to recruit allies, while other tables were buzzing with random conversations. Suddenly, the hubbub stopped.

Sinclair, dressed in his usual suit, and Professor Michael, standing beside him, appeared at the cafeteria entrance. Silence took over the place almost instantly. Sinclair's evil charisma was undeniable, and he knew it. That slight, sarcastic smile already promised trouble.

Sinclair wastes no time. He steps forward, his shoes echoing on the cafeteria floor.

Sinclair (with a sinister smile):

— "Good morning, my dear students. I know many of you are tired... but who said life at Solaris University would be easy? We have a... surprise for you."

The tension in the air was palpable. Ethan watched Sinclair's aura closely, seeing the ominous glow around him.

Ethan (quietly to the group):

— "What the hell is he up to now? The guy is radiating danger. Literally."

Alexys, always mocking, crosses her arms and rolls her eyes.

Alexys (with sarcasm):

— "Ah, of course. Here comes another deadly 'challenge'. I bet we'll end up thrown somewhere like... I don't know, a desert, with giant snakes and no Wi-Fi."

Jordan smiles, looking at Sinclair's figure.

Jordan (humorously):

— "Man, he eats her a sandwich like he's a movie villain. I bet this guy practices that pose in the mirror."

Sinclair, hearing the growing whisper, raises a hand, drawing attention again.

Sinclair (with that cynical and theatrical tone):

— "Now that I have everyone's attention, here's what's going to happen. I want all students... outside the university in five minutes. The next ranking activity... will be held in the Solaris Forest."A hundred of you will participate, but only the best will survive the challenges that lie ahead."

A faint murmur of shock and fear passed through the cafeteria. Ema, sitting at the end of the table, felt her stomach turn.

Ema (nervous, whispering to herself):

— "Forest? That doesn't sound good at all..."

Sinclair steps forward, his eyes scanning the crowd with evident malice. He delights in the fear he is planting in the students.

Sinclair (calm but threatening):

— "This will not be a simple competition of strength. We will test your... survival instinct, your combat skills and, above all, your ability to improvise. The forest has many secrets, and only the most intelligent ones... . or the most desperate... will be able to get out of it intact."

Michael, always more serious and without Sinclair's sarcasm, adds:

Professor Michael (dry and direct):

— "You will face physical, psychological challenges and... some natural dangers. We will be supervising yours constantly, and the dangers are real."

Alexys, who would normally be making some sarcastic joke, narrows her eyes.

Alexys (whispering to Ethan):

— "You know what's worse? I think the guy is serious. It's not going to be just training... it's going to be carnage."

Ethan (serene but thoughtful):

— "That's exactly it. They want something more... something that involves real risks. And somehow I feel like this is just the tip of the iceberg."

Jordan, who would normally be relaxed, was more focused.

Jordan (mocking, but tense):

— "Who would have thought that my worst fight would be against nature, right? I just hope there are no giant bears in this forest."

Ema, nervous, raises her hand towards Alexys and Ethan, who are already getting ready to go.

Ema (almost shaking):

— "This looks like... a trap. The forest... there's something hidden, right?"

Before anyone can respond, Sinclair interrupts any final hesitation by raising his voice.

Sinclair (with a sadistic smile):

— "Ah, and one more thing. The best in this activity... may rise in the rankings. But those who fail... well, they may never see the light of day again."

Panic was beginning to silently spread among the students as Sinclair and Michael turned to leave.

Alexys (whispering to the group):

— "Well... at least it'll be an exciting walk in the forest, right? And who knows... we'll end up discovering more about the secrets of this place."

Ethan (trying to maintain humor):

— "I just hope we don't end up being the 'discovery'."

The group stands up, exchanging apprehensive glances as they follow the stream of students leaving the cafeteria, each with their own concerns and fears, but knowing that this next step could be decisive... not just for the rankings, but for their survival.

### **SCENE 49: - BEGINNING OF ACTIVITY IN THE FOREST

All 100 selected students were gathered outside the university, at the edge of the dense and mysterious Solaris Forest. The air was thick with anticipation and tension. Many exchanged nervous glances, while others grouped together with friends, already decided on who their partners would be. Professor Michael, always strict, walked at the front of the crowd, ready to explain the details of the activity.

He raises his hand, catching everyone's attention.

Professor Michael (calm and cool):

— "Listen carefully, because this will determine who continues and who is left behind. Today's activity is simple in theory, but quite challenging in practice. You will be divided into two groups, by your own choice. If you prefer to form affinity alliances, do it now. There is no time for indecision."

Alexys, arms crossed, sighs and gives Ethan an amused look.

Alexys (smiling mischievously):

— "So, partner, are we going to do this together? Or are you going to run after some other girl who looks like a saint?"

Ethan (ironic, but with a slight smile):

— "Not that I have a choice, right? If I leave you alone, you'll end up causing a lot of problems without my supervision, so let's do it."

Jordan was next to Ema, who was watching the other students carefully.

Jordan (mocking):

— "So, Ema, ready to save the world together? Or at least get out of this forest without dying of boredom?"

Ema smiles sideways, her eyes scanning the horizon.

Ema (with a mischievous smile):

— "If I die, let it be by the side of someone beautiful. And since you're here, why not?"

Meanwhile, Ryan, with his goth look and relaxed attitude, was more distant, observing the chaos around him. He sees Janie and Emily together, and without hesitation, chooses a random partner, an ordinary-looking boy who seems more scared than anything.

Ryan (dry):

— "I'm going with you. They can manage on their own."

The boy Ryan chose barely managed to respond, just nodded, trying to hide his nervousness.

Professor Michael continues his explanation.

Professor Michael (seriously):

— "The mission is clear. Each group must find a map. The maps are hidden at the top of tall trees spread throughout the forest. With this map, you will have the location of 10 silver medals. Only ten pairs will be able to leave with the medals. In other words... the competition will be fierce. You have to fight to ensure that you are one of those ten groups."

He looks at the group with a stern look, letting the words sink in.

Professor Michael (sinister):

— "Oh, and an important detail. The forest... has its own secrets. Don't think it will be a peaceful walk. There are things in there that won't want you to find these maps."

A faint murmur of apprehension ran through the group. Alexys and Ethan exchanged knowing glances.

Alexys (mocking):

— "Ah, I knew it. Of course this forest has traps. I mean, we're at Solaris University. They always make the hardest thing possible."

Ethan (smiling):

— "If there wasn't a prank, it wouldn't be fun, right?"

Jordan, with his ever-present humor, whispers to Ema.

Jordan (laughing):

— "I bet the 'secrets' of the forest are like... giant monsters or, I don't know, carnivorous plants. If we don't end up dead, we'll at least have some scratches and a good story to tell."

Ema rolls her eyes, but smiles.

Ema (sarcastic):

— "I just hope my ability to control plants is more useful than the bad jokes you'll make along the way."

Suddenly, Sinclair comes into view, approaching the students with a cynical smile, carrying the same sarcastic energy that characterized him.

Sinclair (with a sneer):

— "Ah, yes... I almost forgot one small detail. Some of you may not leave the forest. But, you know, survival is part of learning. Have fun... if you can."

He gives a short, sharp laugh, while the students exchange tense looks. Ryan, further away, maintains a neutral expression.

Ryan (quietly, to himself):

— "Typical. Always a macabre joke at the end."

Alexys, without missing a beat, launches a mocking comment as the groups begin to organize themselves.

Alexys (laughing):

— "Ah, how I love the smell of near-death in the morning."

And with that, the students begin to separate and venture into the forest. Alexys and Ethan leave together, already joking about who will find the map first. Jordan and Ema head in another direction, laughing among themselves, but with their senses sharp, knowing that the forest would not be easy. Ryan joins his reluctant partner as he watches Janie and Emily from afar, remaining distant but alert.

The tension in the air was undeniable, but the trickery between the friends was the only thing that kept the situation a little lighter, even when the competition for survival was about to begin.

Ema (jokingly, while walking away with Jordan):

— "Well, at least we'll get a great view... before we probably die."

Jordan (laughing out loud):

— "If we don't die, I promise to buy you dinner. If we do... well, it was nice meeting you."

And all the students begin to disperse into the forest

SINCLAIR'S OFFICE - SECRET ORDERS

Sinclair was in his office, his desk full of papers and some files with notes about students. He seemed satisfied with the current activity and was about to give one more order. The atmosphere was charged with a cold, calculating tension. He looks up when he hears a knock on the door.

Sinclair (sarcastic and with a commanding tone):

— "Come in."

Three highly trained guards, dressed in custom attire and an aura of competence, enter the room. Each of them displayed firm confidence and an imposing posture. Sinclair watched them with a watchful eye.

Sinclair (with a calculating smile):

— "Here you are. The plan is simple. I want you to kidnap five students. Neutralize them with tranquilizers, no deaths. Just make sure they don't wake up until they're out of the way."

He turns to one of the guards, who was wearing a specially reinforced suit.

Sinclair (to guard with doubling):

— "You, duplicator. Use your abilities to ensure that each of your clones can carry out the mission effectively. We will ensure that no student realizes what is happening."

The three guards nod, ready to carry out the order. Sinclair then calls two other agents to join the mission. One with the power of teleportation and the other with camouflage.

Sinclair (direct):

— "Both of you. The teleporter should be the first to act. Once you're in the area, the cloaked one should take cover. If anyone tries to react, use the tranquilizers quickly. I don't want the mission to fail."

Guard with camouflage (with a tone of certainty):

— "Understood. Let's act with discretion."

Sinclair (smiling happily):

— "Perfect. Keep me updated on progress. And remember, the goal is to ensure that the operation continues without unforeseen events. Success is essential."

The guards disperse quickly, their movements coordinated and effective. The teleporting guard disappears instantly, while the camouflaged one dissolves into the shadows of the room. The other guards prepared to begin the mission, with a resolute look.

Sinclair (to himself, with a tone of cold satisfaction):

— "And let the games begin."

### **SCENE 50: FOREST - ALEXYS AND ETHAN LOOKING FOR THE MAP

Alexys and Ethan walked through the dense trees, the leaves rustling beneath their feet as the sunlight passed through the branches, creating an almost surreal environment. Both were focused on searching for the map, but casual conversation between them began to emerge, almost as an escape from the tense environment.

Alexys (smiling, with a mischievous tone):

— "Who knew, huh? You and me... here, hunting for a map in the middle of the woods like it was a treasure hunt. And to think that on the first day I thought you were a complete asshole."

Ethan (laughing softly, with his calculating but relaxed tone):

— "And I thought you were just an impulsive freak with the power of wind. I guess I underestimated your ability to... well, to surprise me."

Alexys (provocative):

— "Surprise? I'm full of surprises, dear. But what about you? All this talk about reading auras and being the 'calculating master'... I thought you were boring. But look, we even became... friends ?"

She lets out a laugh as she passes by a low branch, glancing sideways at Ethan. He watches her for a moment, his eyes analyzing not only her aura, but every gesture, every look.

Ethan (seriously, but with a slight smile):

— "Yeah, I think friends is a good definition. But there's something about you that I still can't decipher, Alexys. It's like you're always... hiding something behind those jokes and that 'I don't care about you' attitude. nothing'."

Alexys (with a softer but still playful tone):

— "You're smart, kid. But what if I told you that everyone hides something? Even you, with that 'guy who knows everything' pose, have secrets."

She stops for a moment, turning to him, her green eyes shining in the light streaming through the trees. Ethan smiles, recognizing the truth in her words.

Ethan (light sigh):

— "You're not wrong. I try to keep things under control, you know? Seeing people's auras helps me understand what they're feeling... but not what they're thinking. And that... irritates me sometimes. times."

Alexys (approaching him, in a softer and more intimate tone):

— "Controlling everything is a trap, Ethan. Sometimes, you just need to let it go... like now. You don't need to understand what I'm thinking. Just feel it."

She looked at him for a second longer, and he felt something different in that look. It wasn't just malice, it wasn't just provocation. It was something deeper, almost... vulnerable.

Ethan (a little embarrassed, but still in control):

— "You know, I didn't expect this from you... this depth. I thought you were just the girl who gives trouble and makes dirty jokes."

Alexys (laughing, but with a touch of sincerity):

— "Ah, I'm that too. But there's more to me than just what everyone sees. And it seems like there's more to you too... no matter how much you try to hide it."

They continued walking, now in silence for a moment, feeling the weight of the words. The tension between them was palpable, but not the bad kind. It was as if something was growing, something neither of them expected. Alexys, normally always with a joke ready, was now introspective, while Ethan, the always calculating one, began to relax around her.

Ethan (breaking the silence, with a softer tone):

— "You know... I don't know if this is the forest messing with me, but I didn't expect us to get along so well. I like hearing you talk... even when you're just messing around."

Alexys (mischievous smile):

— "Ah, get ready then, because I still have a lot to make fun of you. But... I think I also like listening to you. I kind of feel like you understand me... more than I'd like to admit."

She then stopped, looking directly at him, as if weighing her next words.

Alexys (with a touch of malice, but sincere):

— "Ethan, if we survive all this madness... maybe I'll show you a side of me that no one else has seen."

Ethan watched her, not sure if she was serious or just teasing again. But for once, he didn't try to overanalyze. He just... smiled.

Ethan (laughing):

— "I think I'm ready for this surprise. Just... try not to kill me in the process, okay?"

Alexys (laughing, walking again):

- "No promises."

The affinity between the two grew with each step, and the air between them was light and charged at the same time. What started as a treasure hunting mission was turning into something more. And, as much as neither of them would admit it yet, they both knew they were starting to care more than they should.

Alexys and Ethan finally spot the map stuck to the branch of a tall tree, shining in the sun filtering through the canopy. Alexys prepares to take the map, but suddenly, a familiar voice echoes across the clearing.

Maya (sarcastic and confident):

— "Hey, Alexys. Did you think it would be that easy? I think you'll have to work a little harder for this, this map is ours."

Maya, with her dark blue hair and sharp eyes, was leaning against a tree, moving her fingers as if playing with water in the air. Beside him, Thomas, the boy who controls clones by touching people, was already in position, with a pretentious smile on his face.

Thomas (arrogantly, looking at Ethan):

— "Ah, the aura reader... Let's see how much you can read while fighting, kid."

Alexys narrows her eyes, quickly realizing the danger. She knew Maya was dangerous with her control over water, and Thomas... well, he was the kind of opponent who could multiply chaos with a simple touch.

Alexys (whispering to Ethan):

— "Do you feel it? These two aren't kidding. Keep an eye out, Ethan. Thomas only needs to touch you once to create a clone of you... and that's it."

Ethan (seriously, but with a touch of sarcasm):

— "Great. Clones of me, that's all I needed today."

Maya moves her hand, and with one fluid movement, a wave of liquid water begins to form from the ground, surrounding Alexys and Ethan. The water begins to swirl around them, as if trapping them in a liquid dome.

Maya (laughing while watching them):

— "Do you think you can win? That's my specialty... drowning opponents like you."

Alexys (sarcastic, but prepared):

— "I think you're underestimating my ability to make you swallow that water of yours, darling."

Before Maya can respond, Alexys uses her wind ability, creating a whirlpool around them that destabilizes the water for a few seconds, opening a gap for her and Ethan to escape the enclosure.

Ethan (laughing):

— "I love it when you do that."

Alexys (smiling, but focused):

- "I know."

START OF THE FIGHT

Maya immediately turns some of the water into steam, trying to obscure Alexys and Ethan's vision. Mist begins to fill the field around them, as Thomas advances, trying to get close enough to touch one of them and create clones.

Alexys (shouting to Ethan):

— "Stay away from him! If he touches you, it will get even more complicated!"

Ethan, ever observant, uses his aura reading ability to sense Thomas' intentions. He can anticipate his movements, dodging each touch attempt. However, the fog around them was starting to make the fight difficult.

Thomas (laughing as he approaches):

— "Are you scared, aura boy? I won't take long, I just need a touch."

Alexys, in turn, tries to deal with Maya. She conjures a gust of wind that disperses some of the mist, but Maya continues to manipulate the water around her, creating liquid whips that hit Alexys. The naughty girl dodges, but takes a glancing blow to the arm.

Alexys (screaming angrily):

— "Really, Maya? Water? Is that the best you have?"

Maya (smiling coldly):

— "You'll drown trying to find out."

Alexys gets to Maya and they begin to fight hand to hand, with Maya hitting Alexys with two punches and a kick. Alexys recovers herself and hits her with a wind-driven punch that makes Maya fall to the ground. Maya quickly gets up and tries to hit Alexys with water whips, but this time Alexys dodges, and quickly hits Maya with three punches in the face, a front kick to the stomach, and a harai-goshi that leaves Maya on the ground. Maya stands up, staggering. As Alexys fights Maya Ethan notices an opening. He reads Maya's aura, sensing a moment of hesitation when she is too focused on Alexys. Taking advantage of this, he throws a rock towards Thomas, who was about to touch him.

Ethan (provocative):

— "Looks like you're going to have to work harder for this, clone boy!"

Thomas (irritated):

— "Do you think you can run away forever?"

Thomas advances again, but Alexys, seeing the opportunity, uses her gust of wind to propel Ethan towards the tree with the map.

Alexys (screaming):

— "Go, Ethan! Get the map, I'll take care of these two!"

Ethan, now flying through the air thanks to Alexys's momentum, grabs the branch and manages to grab the map. But before he can return to the ground, Maya turns the water around him into steam again, making it difficult for him to see.

Maya (annoyed, trying to maintain control):

— "You're not going to get away that easy, Ethan, this map belongs to us!"

But Alexys was ready. With a blast of wind, she disperses the mist completely, revealing everyone's position. Thomas, now visible, is taken by surprise by Alexys who hits him with two punches and a side kick to the face, which throws him backwards, preventing him from getting close to Ethan.

Alexys (laughing as she walks away from Thomas):

— "You're too slow, clone boy!"

Ethan, holding the map, smiles at Alexys, who is already beside him again. They look at Maya and Thomas, who were now exhausted and disoriented.

Alexys (looking at Ethan):

— "Ready to run?"

Ethan (laughing):

— "Always."

The two race through the forest, leaving Maya and Thomas behind, still recovering from the fight. Ethan holds the map tightly, and Alexys continues laughing as she runs alongside him.

Alexys (teasing, as they run):

— "Man, I'll never get tired of beating these suckers."

Ethan (with a mischievous smile):

— "Neither do I. Let's find these medals before they recover."

The camera focuses on them running through the forest, ready for the next stage of the mission.

CUT TO NEXT SCENE

Ema and Jordan walk side by side through the dense forest, sunlight penetrating through the treetops creating shadow patterns on the ground. Jordan, always relaxed, tried to lighten the mood with jokes.

Jordan (smiling while talking):

— "Why did the math book go to the therapist? Because there were a lot of problems, obviously."

Ema rolled her eyes, clearly annoyed by Jordan's jokes.

Ema (with boredom):

— "Do you really think you're going to make me laugh with that one? It seems like you collect the worst possible jokes."

Jordan (laughing):

— "Hey....That hurt. I've made a lot of people laugh with my jokes, you don't understand."

Ema (sighing):

— "I just hope Alexys and Ethan are doing better than us."

Jordan (looking at the dense trees)

— "I bet they are. What huge trees."

Ema looked around, distracted. That was when, in the distance, his eyes caught something that made his heart skip a beat. Sitting on the edge of a crystal clear lake, with her feet delicately dipped in the water, was Georgie, the intelligent blonde girl who always left Ema speechless. Georgie looked calm, almost ethereal, like she was at peace with herself.

Ema (stopping abruptly):

— "Georgie?"

Jordan looked in the direction where Ema was fixated, but saw nothing. He frowned, confused.

Jordan (confused):

— "Georgie? Where? I just see an empty lake, what the fuck is this?."

Ema barely heard Jordan, her eyes fixed on Georgie. Without hesitation, she began walking towards the lake, as if she was being drawn by an invisible force. She barely noticed when Jordan tried to grab her arm, but she easily freed herself.

Jordan (shouting after her):

— "Ema, what are you doing? There's nothing there!"

Ema arrived at the edge of the lake, and Georgie was there, looking beautiful as always. The soft glow of the sun reflected off her blonde hair as she dipped her feet in the water, a small shy smile on her lips.

Georgie (calmly, almost whispering):

— "You always watch me from afar, Ema. You never have the courage to speak, but now you are here. What are you going to do?"

Ema felt the heat rise through her body. This was the chance she always wanted. She sat down next to Georgie, her feet almost touching the water. The heart was beating fast.

Ema (smiling nervously):

— "I... I like you, you know? I always liked it. I think you're amazing, with the whole thing about being so smart and... telekinetic..."

Georgie laughed softly, but something about that laugh sounded strange, almost out of tune. However, Ema was blinded by attraction. She came closer.

Georgie (eyes shining strangely):

— "Do you think I'm amazing? Why don't you show me how much you really want to be around me?"

Ema was about to touch Georgie's hand when suddenly something made her hesitate. His eyes, now closer, noticed a distortion, like a blurry reflection in a mirror. Georgie was there, but something...was wrong. Her smile seemed wider, more artificial. His eyes glowed with an intensity that was disturbing.

Ema (frowning, confused):

— "What… what's going on?"

At this moment, the "Georgie" in front of him transformed. Her smile widened grotesquely, and her face began to deform. The creature revealed its true form – a freak of illusions, with tentacles emerging from its back and a voracious gaze.

Fake Georgie (distorted voice):

— "You are so easy to fool, little fool."

Before Ema could react, the creature grabbed her arms, pulling her towards the lake. The once crystal clear water now seemed like a bottomless pit, dark and threatening. Emma shouted.

Ema (desperate):

— "Jordan! Help!"

Jordan, who was in the distance, finally understood what was happening. He ran towards Ema, wasting no time.

Jordan (screaming while running):

— "Let her go, you disgusting thing!"

With a powerful punch, Jordan hit the creature in the side of the head, causing it to let go of Ema for a brief moment. Ema fell to the ground, panting and in shock, as the illusion around them dissipated. The lake disappeared, and the clearing now looked different, darker, without the false beauty that Ema had seen.

Jordan (helping Ema get up):

— "What the fuck was that?!"

Ema was still in a daze, looking at the place where "Georgie" had been.

Ema (breathing heavily):

— "I... I thought it was her... I thought it was Georgie..."

Jordan (with a worried tone):

— "It wasn't, Ema. It was something... I don't know, some forest creature. This place is full of traps. Let's get out of here now!"

Still shaken, Ema agreed, and the two began running back away from the clearing. The danger that had seemed harmless moments before was now frighteningly real.

Jordan and Ema finally stopped running and leaned against a large tree in the middle of the forest. They were both panting, their hearts pounding in their chests. The adrenaline from the battle against the illusion still left them alert, but fatigue was beginning to take its toll.

Jordan (breathing, hands on knees):

— "Okay… good… I think we're… safe for a second. What the fuck was that?"

Ema, still trying to regulate her breathing, rubbed her face with her hands, looking more shaken than she wanted to admit. She shrugged, but her eyes were fixed on the floor, as if she was trying to process what had just happened.

Ema (with a tired sigh):

— "I thought it was her… I thought it was Georgie."

Jordan (raising an eyebrow, clearly curious):

— "Okay, but what the hell made you run there? As soon as you saw this 'Georgie' you practically flew. Like, you knew this could be a trap, right?"

Ema looked away, clearly uncomfortable with the question. She knew Jordan wasn't going to let this go without an explanation. After a few seconds of silence, she sighed deeply and finally looked at him.

Ema (with an ironic half smile):

— "I went because… I like her, okay? I always liked it."

Jordan's eyes widened and he smiled mischievously, clearly amused by the revelation.

Jordan (smiling):

— "Ahhh, so that's it? Is tough Ema falling for the antisocial blonde?"

Ema (rolling her eyes, trying to hide it):

— "Stop filling it up, Jordan. It's nothing like that. I mean… maybe it's a little bit of that."

Jordan laughed, leaning closer against the tree and crossing his arms, as if he was savoring the moment. He was clearly enjoying teasing Ema.

Jordan (smiling mischievously):

- "I knew! You always get that lost puppy look when Georgie is around. And now, you were almost devoured by a crazy creature because you thought it was your 'beloved'. What is this, a scene from a poorly written romance?"

Ema (with a slight smile, but throwing a tree leaf at him):

— "Screw you, Jordan. I just... I can't help it. She's mysterious, you know? Kind of cold, intelligent as hell... and there's something behind that way of her. As if she was fighting something. I just wanted to… I don't know, get closer. Maybe help her."

Jordan looked at Ema with a more serious expression now, realizing that she really felt something strong for Georgie. He leaned forward, resting his elbows on his knees, and looked at Ema with a half smile.

Jordan (with a softer tone):

— "You really like her, huh? The kind that makes you do stupid things without thinking."

Ema (smiling, but with distant eyes):

— "Yeah… it seems so."

Jordan (laughing, but with a hint of sarcasm):

— "Just be careful, okay? Because, the way you're going, this passion is still going to kill you. Literally."

Ema gave a weak laugh, shaking her head.

Ema (jokingly):

— "You know you're talking to the queen of recklessness, right? If it's not for her, I'll die of something else."

Jordan (laughing out loud):

— "Yes, I believe that."

They were silent for a few seconds, both looking at the forest around them. The sun began to hide behind the trees, and the environment took on a darker atmosphere.

Jordan (still joking, but with a touch of seriousness):

— "But seriously, Ema. He won't do anything crazy because of her anymore. We have a mission here, and if you die because of a stupid illusion of 'love', I'll have to tell Alexys. And then, well… it'll be embarrassing."

Ema (laughing and shrugging):

— "If I die, at least I'll do it in style."

Jordan (with a wink):

- "For sure. What would you do without the drama?"

Ema laughed, but deep down she knew Jordan was right. She had to be more careful. But that didn't change the fact that, in some way, she felt like she needed to get closer to Georgie. There was something more there, something she still couldn't explain.

They slowly got up, ready to continue the mission.

Ema (with a sideways smile):

— "Come on, big guy. I think we still have a map to find before Alexys and Ethan have too much fun without us."

Jordan (with a mischievous smile):

— "Yeah, I don't want to miss out on the fun. And who knows, maybe the next illusion will be more interesting."

They laughed together as they walked back through the forest, ready for whatever came next.

CUT TO NEXT SCENE

Ryan walked calmly, as always, through the forest. His footsteps barely made any noise, and the gloomy atmosphere around him seemed to perfectly match his nature. Beside him, Duke, the boy who could breathe underwater, was trying to start a conversation, but Ryan's patience was already running out.

Duke (trying to be friendly):

— "You know, Ryan, I think we make an interesting pair. Like, shadows and water… a balance, right? You kind of master the dark side, I… well, I survive underwater. Cool, right?"

Ryan remained silent, hands in the pockets of his leather jacket, staring at the ground as if Duke were just background noise. He had no patience for pointless conversations, and the boy next to him seemed determined to continue with that annoying chat.

Ryan (dryly):

- "Whatever."

Duke laughed, trying to lighten the mood, but it was obvious he was a little uncomfortable with his partner's behavior. They continued walking, with Duke blurting out words here and there, but Ryan simply ignored them. He was more focused on the strange silence that was beginning to take over the forest around them.

As they advanced, the atmosphere became even heavier. The sunlight began to fade, the trees seemed more gnarled, and a biting cold began to creep up Duke's spine.

Duke (worried, looking around):

— "Man… This is weird, don't you think? Like, too quiet."

Ryan stopped for a moment, looking around with his dark eyes. He noticed that the air seemed thicker, harder to breathe, and the environment was taking on a shade of gray. Something was wrong, very wrong.

Ryan (calmly):

— "Finally… Something interesting."

Suddenly, dark clouds began to form in the sky, twisting in an unearthly manner. Rays of shadow began to descend from the clouds, and a grotesque creature emerged, shaped from darkness and fear. His eyes glowed an intense red, and his presence was suffocating. The air around them felt like it weighed tons.

Darkly Sinister Creature (in a hoarse, distorted voice):

— "I am the one who lives in the shadows of your thoughts. I am what makes the night darker... your fears, your nightmares... I reveal what consumes you inside."

Duke broke out in a cold sweat. His face was pale, his eyes were wide with terror. It was as if something was invading his mind, ripping out the darkest parts and displaying them like a macabre work of art.

Duke (in a shaky voice):

— "What… What is this? What's going on?"

The creature then approached him, the shadows around him intensifying, and the silence became deafening. Suddenly, images of Duke's greatest fears began to take shape around him. The deep waters, dark and inescapable, began to envelop him, and grotesque sea creatures emerged from the darkness, trying to grab him.

Duke (desperate, struggling against the air):

- "No! No no! I don't want to go back there! I don't… please don't!"

The creature reached out its hand, and Duke was enveloped in shadow, pulled into his worst nightmare. In a matter of seconds, he disappeared, as if he had never existed. Silence returned, and only Ryan remained, standing there, watching the scene with disdain on his face.

The creature, now facing Ryan, seemed curious. Their shadows danced around him, trying to penetrate his mind, seeking out his fears, his nightmares... but nothing happened. Ryan's face was an unshakable mask.

Darkly Sinister Creature (intrigued):

— "Where are your fears, boy? What torments you in the shadows?"

Ryan took a step forward, his eyes fixed on the creature. A cold, ironic smile appeared on his lips as he responded with the same disturbing calm that always accompanied him.

Ryan (with a dark smile):

- "Fear? Don't make me laugh. I am the one who lives in the shadows. There is nothing here for you."

The creature twitched, as if bothered by the lack of reactions. She tried again to delve into Ryan's mind, but it was like she was hitting a wall. He simply wasn't afraid, not in the way she could use it.

Darkly Sinister Creature (growling in frustration):

— "Everyone has fears… everyone… even you."

Ryan laughed quietly, a barely audible sound. He raised one of his hands and let the shadows begin to emanate from his own body, mixing with those of the creature. The contrast between them was almost palpable.

Ryan (in a challenging tone):

— "You don't scare me. I'm your worst fucking nightmare."

In one agile movement, Ryan used his teleportation power to disappear in a whirlwind of shadows and reappear behind the creature. He was playing with her, playing like a predator who already knew he had won. The creature growled, irritated, but Ryan was unfazed.

Ryan (facing the creature head on again):

— "Will you try again? Or are you going to accept that you can't do it with me?"

The creature hesitated, as if considering its options, but seemed unable to understand how to deal with someone so unshakable. Finally, as if admitting defeat, she began to fade into the shadows, slowly disappearing.

Ryan, still wearing a cold smile, put his hands in his pockets and started walking away, without even looking back.

Ryan (talking to himself):

— "Fear is for the weak. I'll have to continue alone, that boy doesn't make any difference either."
