Synopsis

In a world where human emotions manifest as ethereal "Echoes" visible only to their owners, people unknowingly shape their fates. These Echoes can transform into powerful entities when strong emotions arise, but they also risk turning into monstrous "Shades" if left untamed.

The protagonist, Kael Arata, is a 17-year-old boy who has no Echo, making him an anomaly in a world where everyone's Echo determines their destiny. Labeled as a cursed child, Kael lives as an outcast in the bustling city of Lysoria. However, his mundane life takes a sharp turn when he discovers a girl, Seren, lying unconscious in the alley—her Echo violently corrupted into a Shade.

Kael saves Seren using an unnatural power to "consume" her corrupted Echo, turning it into a part of himself. He learns he can absorb Echoes, a power neither human nor natural. As Kael and Seren form a reluctant partnership, they unravel a conspiracy involving the Echo Council, the organization that regulates Echo usage, which seeks to weaponize human emotions to control the populace.
