Chapter 5 - Survival

With this initial order completion experience, Abel now understood how to effectively utilize the system.

Prioritizing positive reviews was crucial!

To achieve this, the [quality] and potentially the [quantity] of traded items were paramount.

Timeliness was another critical factor.

Therefore, the key to earning praise lay in consistently completing orders efficiently and effectively.

This necessitated thorough preparation, ensuring that he was equipped to handle any order that might arise, regardless of its nature.

He needed to proactively gather high-quality or ample quantities of trading items.

Furthermore, this endeavor could not be accomplished alone.

He required manpower, influence,

substantial wealth, and even high social status and privileges.

His ultimate goal was to establish a system where he could mobilize the most abundant resources and prepare for any order with maximum efficiency.

He would then leverage the system to enhance his own strength, acquire unique resources, and create a self-sustaining cycle of growth.

Of course, this was the ideal scenario.

However, despite his current limitations, Abel embraced this ambitious vision as his future objective.

With that in mind, Abel promptly retrieved the pair of foot-strengthening shoes from his system [Package] and put them on. He understood that arming himself was his immediate priority.

Classic white and red high-top sneakers in just the right size.

Each outer side of the shoe conceals a subtle mechanism that can be adjusted for 3 different strengths.

These sneakers stimulate the acupuncture points of the feet through a combination of electricity and magnetism, maximizing muscle strength.

Each use consumes internal power, necessitating recharging.

However, there's no need to worry about finding a compatible charger. A small area on the upper part of the shoe can absorb and convert solar energy.

Only 6 hours of sunlight are required for a full charge, making them highly practical.

Abel let out a sigh of satisfaction but immediately lay motionless on the ground, feigning death.

Another group of soldiers had arrived to transport more corpses.

"This job is truly a curse," one of them grumbled.

"Don't complain," the other soldier retorted. "This should be the final batch.

Unload the corpses quickly, then we'll head back, shower, and enjoy a drink together tonight."

Abel's heart quickened at their words.

However, he immediately suppressed the surge of emotion. If they discovered he was alive, he would undoubtedly be killed on the spot.

Fortunately, these soldiers were eager to leave and hastily unloaded the corpses without lingering. They departed without so much as a glance in his direction.

Abel breathed a sigh of relief.

"I can't wait any longer. I must escape from this place immediately."

Recalling the soldiers' earlier conversation, Abel felt a surge of anxiety.

If this truly was the last batch of corpses, it meant someone would soon arrive to incinerate everything here.

If he couldn't escape before then...

Just as Abel was contemplating his escape plan, two soldiers returned. He overheard their conversation:

"Hurry up and gather your belongings and leave."

"What are you afraid of? Everyone else has already gone. No one will find us here."

"I think this place is cursed and brings bad luck!

Spits

Didn't you say the corpses were dumped here?"

"That's right. I even marked the spot. They must have been dumped here."

"If you ask me, you're just perverted, actually wanting to search the corpses for valuables."

"Hmph! We work hard, yet those higher-ups want to claim all the spoils and then throw a few measly bones our way?

I refuse to accept it!

I'm going to find those hidden valuables, exchange them for money, and escape to a small island to live the life of a millionaire!"

"Haha, you've got a point! Let's do it!"

Although the two soldiers felt uneasy in this location, the lure of wealth and the prospect of easy riches motivated them.

Their faces were contorted with greed as they searched for the precious jewels they believed were hidden among the corpses.

"This is strange," one muttered. "It should be here, but I can't find anything."

"Did you remember the wrong location?" the other questioned.

"Impossible. Let's keep searching..."

Abel, lying motionless on the ground, felt his heart pound as he heard their approaching footsteps.

If they discovered him, he would surely be killed.

He decided not to take any chances and immediately activated the [I am a Passerby] coin from his system inventory.

The coin shattered and vanished in an instant.

The [I am a Passerby] effect took hold, significantly diminishing Abel's presence.

One of the soldiers walked directly past Abel, rummaging through the surrounding corpses, yet strangely, he completely ignored Abel's presence, never once touching him.

Abel held his breath, fearing that his heartbeat or the difference in body temperature between the living and the dead might expose him.

He breathed a sigh of relief when the soldier moved on.

However, not everyone was as fortunate.

The other soldier searching in a different direction suddenly exclaimed, attracting his companion's attention.

"I found something! What the hell?!"

"Come here! Is there a child alive here?!"

"Quick... apprehend him!"

Upon hearing this shout, Abel instinctively feared that he had been discovered.

However, when he cautiously opened his eyes, he saw the two soldiers cornering a young boy wearing a black and white spotted hat.
