"Get off the bed. I don't want to say it again."
Ashton frowned, saying with impatience. It was for Adrian's sake. This woman was not good enough to be Adrian's mother. Adrian was young. When growing up, Adrian would understand him.
"Daddy...."
Adrian trembled and almost cried. He held back his tears, 'Mommy didn't like me. If she woke up and saw me crying, she would hate me even more.'
'grandma said that Mommy would like me if I behaved myself.'
"Adrian!"
Ashton squinted. He was calm, yet seeing Adrian was so eager to get close with Arabella, he was helpless with rage.
"Ashton, why are you so harsh on Adrian?"
It was painful for Arabella to see Adrian feeling sad and wronged. The scene that Adrian was about to cry flooded into her mind.
Arabella stopped pretending to be asleep. After yelling at Ashton, she realized what she had said.
She shouted at her lifesaver and long-term meal ticket. And it was after she had done so many bad things to him.
Ashton raised his eyebrows and lifted the corners of his mouth with scorn. In his memory, it was the first time Arabella spoke to him like this.
Ashton thought that she might be done with the old trick and try to play a new one. But he didn't have the mood or the time to watch her.
"Is it wrong?"
Arabella blinked, trying to justify her weird behavior, "Adrian is just a child. Can't you be gentle?"
Maybe because of feeling guilty, Arabella softened her tone.
"Arabella, what kind of trick are you playing?"
Without cigarettes, Ashton was playing with a lighter. He got a poker face, and yet he lifted the corners of his mouth with disdain.
After a while, he looked at James and said, "Take Adrian out. I have something to talk to Arabella."
"Daddy, I want to stay with Mommy."
Adrian objected. Just now, Arabella spoke for him. Although they were just some words, he figured that Arabella loved him. And he felt overjoyed in an instant.
Adrian rubbed Arabella's arm and was reluctant to leave.
Glancing at Arabella, Ashton didn't say anything.
"Adrian, listen. Mommy and Daddy have to talk. You and Uncle James go outside and play for a while."
In the afternoon, Lucy had said that there were quite a few children's amusement facilities in the hospital, and they were safe. Adrian could kill the time there.
Arabella had a feeling that Ashton wouldn't say anything nice. They might have a quarrel. It was better that Adrian didn't hear it.
Parents always thought that children didn't know anything. In fact, children were sensitive.
Adrian reluctantly went out, and Ashton closed the door right away. Arabella sat upright, waiting for Ashton to lecture her.
"Let's get divorced. I'll have my lawyer call you."
Ashton cut to the chase.
How was their marriage? No one knew better than themselves. He would give Arabella everything that she asked.
Houses, cars, shares, overseas assets, etc. Everything he could afford.
Arabella was shocked!
"Why do you want a divorce?"
She knew that Ashton wouldn't say anything good since he didn't want Adrian in the room. However, she did not expect that Ashton would ask for a divorce.
"Arabella, it's you who want a divorce. I'm just granting your wish."
Ashton took a step back, flashing her a look with disgust.
"I...."
Arabella lowered her head, trying to recall what had happened. Then, she remembered that she and Ashton had argued about something two months ago. She didn't remember why. Anyway, she asked for a divorce while being angry.
Ashton hadn't said anything. It turned out that he also wanted a divorce.
Mr. Ashton, the president of the Hart Group, was mysterious, handsome and rich. And he was only thirty years old, the age when a man was most attractive.
After the divorce, Ashton would be an eligible bachelor. Countless women such as business ladies, female stars and young models would like to throw themselves at him.
"Darling, I don't want to get divorced!"
The person who kidnapped her had been arrested, but the one behind the scenes hadn't.
At the crucial moment, she didn't want to leave Ashton, who could protect her. Or, she could die!
For the sake of her life, Arabella wouldn't choose to divorce. She had to stay no matter what she had to do.
Therefore, with red eyes, she sobbed, "Darling, I think we can save our marriage for our son!"
Looking at the crying woman with cold eyes, Ashton felt more disgusted. He had told her that he would make the greatest concession in terms of property. What else did she want?
They could divorce and stop contacting each other. Ashton wouldn't keep her from pursuing true love. However, he didn't understand why Arabella cried or mentioned Adrian. She never showed her concerns for Adrian.
"Arabella, don't push your luck!"
Ashton ran out of patience with her. Not mentioning the adulterer was the last thing he could do to show respect.
"Ashton!"
Arabella wiped away her tears. She felt ashamed, yet she had to suppress the feeling. Then, she looked up, getting up the courage and staring at Ashton, "Darling, I know that I've made a lot of mistakes in this marriage. But during the time I was kidnapped, I realized that the only person I love was you!"
At that time, the only person she thought about and waited for was Ashton.
"Because Liam won't save you."
Ashton's words were like ten thousand years of ice that could freeze Arabella.
He just called Arabella out, and Arabella felt more embarrassed.
Liam was a fresh-faced young man, who had quite a few fans. And he was Arabella's idol.
As Mrs. Hart, she used her status to look for resources for Liam. In return, Liam also showed respect and met her several times, but he didn't want to get close with her.
He was cold. Just two months ago, he stopped being cold and distant. Instead, he always contacted Arabella to express his feelings. Arabella couldn't refuse him, because she also liked him.
The day she was kidnapped was also the day when they agreed to meet.
Because Liam was a star who had many fans, it would cause a stir whenever he showed up in a crowed place. So, they chose to meet at a remote park.
Arabella went there with delight. She also felt guilty, so she didn't bring her assistant or bodyguard, giving the kidnappers a chance to take her away.
"Darling, I can explain. There's nothing between Liam and me!"
Arabella wanted to call herself names, 'How many stupid things had she done? I had to clean up my mess.'
She was Mrs. Hart. Liam was a promising fresh meat, and he had never come into contact with the female lead. It was bullshit that he fell in love with her!
It was more possible that he fell in love with the power and money of the Hart family.
By the way, being Ashton's wife, no one would dare to cheat on Ashton, even though they didn't love each other. However, She did.
In Arabella's opinion, Liam was not innocent. He might be an accomplice in the kidnapping!
But she didn't have any evidence right now. No one would believe her.
Ashton pulled a chair and sat down. He was indifferent, staring at somewhere. No one knew what he was thinking.
Arabella decided to say something to change his mind. If he determined to divorce her, she would be in a more difficult situation.
She managed to escape from the kidnappers. Now, she wanted to live a peaceful life, instead of worrying that she would die if she didn't pay attention.
"I know that there's some misunderstanding between us because I went to the park."
Arabella decided to save her face based on her previous life. She started saying nonsense, "At first, I was a fan of Liam. I found that he was good at singing and acting, which was amazing."
It wasn't a lie. She didn't dare to cheat on Ashton. She liked Liam, but that was all. It was because Liam allured her that she planned to take the first step.
"But then I found him too snobbish. He knew I was married and still tried to seduce me. I went to the park because I wanted to teach him a lesson."
Arabella flushed with anger, saying "I didn't expect that I would be caught by the kidnappers halfway and almost die. He's such a jinx!"
Ashton stood up, clapping his hands. His expression didn't change at all, yet he gave Arabella a meaningful look. He noticed that Arabella was not so useless. At the very least, she could be a screenwriter to make a living.
Arabella didn't know what to say.
She felt it reasonable. But Ashton didn't show any respect for her!
"Arabella, you should know that I'm not discussing with you. I'm informing you."
Ashton's voice was cold. If it weren't for his grandmother, he wouldn't bother to be here. To him, saving Arabella was all he could do for her.
"Daddy, you inform Mommy of what?"
The door was pushed open, and Adrian ran into the ward.
"Adrian, you didn't knock. What do I teach you?"
Ashton was strict with Adrian, because Adrian was the successor to him. And Adrian was born different.
"Daddy, I'm wrong."
Adrian flushed with shame. It was not Ashton that he was afraid of. He raised his head and peeked at Arabella, 'I made a mistake in front of Mommy. Would Mommy dislike me again?'
Thinking of this, Adrian felt wronged. He wanted to cry but didn't dare to, so he clenched his fists and stood there.
Arabella was afraid of Ashton, especially when he wanted a divorce. She could only refute what Ashton said in a careful way.
It was because Ashton projected a high-wattage aura and she had always been useless. She was worried that she will hurt Ashton and their son again.
