Chereads / GENE EVOLUTION: MY PETS ARE DIVINE / Chapter 2 - CHAPTER 1 INTO A NEW WORLD

Chapter 2 - CHAPTER 1 INTO A NEW WORLD

In a dense forest, a beam of black light descends from the sky and lands on a corpse. The lifeless body that is filled with injuries twitches, and after a couple of seconds, it stands up and looks around him in total panic.

"What!? Where!? Who!? Huh?" The corpse scratches his head, confused at his current condition. He looks around once again, and his confusion only grows stronger.

"Maybe I should not have been drinking so early in the day to think that I am seeing such crazy things." He laughs, thinking that he is hallucinating.

Urgh! He clutches his chest; it feels like his heart is burning. The sensation only spreads around his body, growing more intense by the second. He falls to the ground and tries to lessen the pain by rolling around.

No sound comes out of his mouth; he is trying to scream because of the pain he is currently experiencing. An hour passes, and the pain finally recedes.

"F*ck! What the hell was that?! It feels like sh*t!" He curses loudly. He tries to stand up but only feels the sensation of exhaustion all over his body.

Suddenly a voice descends on his head, causing him to turn pale in fright. He tries to find the origin of the voice, but just like earlier, he is still alone in the seemingly endless forest.

"What the actual f*ck?! Am I really that drunk that I am hearing strange mechanic voices in my head?" Leon scratches his head, but he quickly notices something strange: he is wearing torn clothing, as if it were ripped apart by some sort of monster.

"What the hell happened to me? Also, the most important question right now is, Where the hell am I?" He screams in exasperation.

Roar! A loud roar was heard nearby, startling him. He quickly turns in the direction of the roar and runs the other way around. He might be curious as to what the hell made that roar, as it is much different than any animal that he has ever heard, but he is not willing to wait and find out.

He quickly realises something strange: his physique. He had seen his body, and it was actually quite fit, unlike what he had been used to seeing.

Shaking his head, he tells himself to forget that information for now and focus on running away. The animal responsible for the roar might not be chasing him, but he is not going to risk his life by finding out.

After running for half an hour or so, he stops and hides. He looks around and sees nothing unusual; he sighs in relief.

"Now on a pressing matter, when did I become so fit?" he asks himself as he touches the lean stomach he now has. He cannot help but click his tongue.

"Also, I am not exhausted even after running for so long; even though I used some of the technique that dad taught me, I should still be out of breath, but right now, I only felt strength coursing through my body."

He sighs and says, "I wish I could see my current physical trait."

Before his grandfather's death, he always examined his physical health, as his grandfather always smiled after seeing just how healthy he was.

"What is this!" Surprised by the sudden appearance of a screen in front of him, he jumps backwards. He quickly takes up a fighting stance, but seeing that the screen does not do anything, he quickly calms down.

Taking a deep breath, he cannot help but ask, "What the hell happened to me, and where is this place?"

[The host is now in a different universe because, due to the primary function of the system, it protects the host's core, which is his body and soul. Due to the power of the black hole, the system was unable to save the body and can only use most of its power to protect the soul and transfer it to a universe that the host desired.]

"Lost my body, what do you mean by that? Are you saying that this body is not mine? What about its original owner? Did you kill him to be replaced by me?" He feels guilty for the original owner of the body.

[Affirmative, the host lost his body due to the unforeseen event of the power of the black hole; affirmative, the original owner is already dead before the host descends on the new vessel; negative]

Leon was speechless. He sighs and says, "Wow, you really answered all of my questions, and in order to do that, you are really convenient. Since you call yourself a system, are you some sort of gift from a bored God before sending me to this world?"

[Negative, the system is no miracle from any "God." It is the final creation of the Laprace Race before they went extinct by observing the miracle of life and evolution in your original world. It is the Gemstone of Life.

"Gemstone of Life? Right! You are the gem that I have always kept, but how did you manage to enter my brain?" he asks in shock.

[Not brain; in order to protect the host, the system has to fuse with the spirit body, or, in your race's terms, the soul.]

"Wow, you are telling me that you are directly talking to my soul, but wait, what about my original planet? What had happened to it?"

[Destroyed, swallowed by the black hole, right now you are the only current being left of your original world; everyone was disintegrated into atoms, vaporised into nothing.]

"Well, I might not like a lot of people in my original world, but to think that it was destroyed," he mumbles to himself. Feeling helpless at his current predicament, he sits there in deep contemplation.

[Danger! Danger! Danger! A powerful being is coming! A powerful being is coming! ]

'F*ck! ' Without hesitation, he stands up and runs away, but it seems that the being is much faster than him—a lot faster. Without hesitation, he starts climbing into one of the trees, knowing that he is incapable of outrunning the being.

A humanoid figure with a body encased in blue armour appears in his sight; it outlines the figure of a voluptuous individual. Even though he is captivated by the figure, Leon dares not to come out of hiding.

This person is a lot stronger than him, and he will not risk being discovered by her before he can ascertain his safety. The blue figure just stands there in silence.

A giant dog appears; it actually speaks, startling Leon. He cannot help but be curious about the world he is currently in.

"You are too fast; can't you wait for me?" The giant dog complains. He sniffs the air, and his eyes light up. He then turns in the direction of where Leon is hiding.

'Yep, I'm definitely f*cked' Leon inwardly screams as he sees this. He gets down from the tree, knowing that he had already been discovered. Continuing to hide will definitely be pointless and might even be seen as rude for these two individuals.

He lived his life cautiously; many would consider him a coward, but he does not mind it; if this helps him survive, he will accept it. As long as it does not go beyond his mortality, he cares not of anyone's view.

"Young master! We finally found you!" Happily screams the giant dog. He transforms into a human, shocking him greatly. He cannot help but watch this with a gobsmacked expression.

"Young master, are you alright?" Seeing that he does not move and continues to raise his two hands in surrender, the man who was just a giant dog a second ago asks in worry.

Leon starts coughing, trying to calm himself down. He is inwardly screaming, 'What kind of world is this? A human is actually able to transform into a big dog! At first, I thought this was some sort of ancient timed world after seeing the lady knight, but it seems that I am gravely wrong! '

"Uhm, when you are asking for your young master, do you mean me?" he asks carefully, still having his hands raised high as to not raise suspicion. Seeing this, the two were startled and stared at each other.

"Young master, did you forget about me? I am your loyal servant, Elcio," says the man. The lady knight takes off her armour, and with a flash, she is no longer wearing it and transforms into a pretty girl wearing some sort of skintight outfit.

'D*mn! She is pretty, but what was that? How did she manage to take off her armour in an instant? ' This world continues to give him one surprise after another.

"Young master, don't tell me that you have also forgotten about your faithful servant, Emily?" she asks, but seeing no changes in his expression, the two of them realise that he truly does not know them.

"Oh no! The young master lost his memories!" screams the man. The girl quickly approaches him and starts touching his body all over, seeing no wounds. She sighs in relief and then says this to her panicked partner.

"Stop panicking; we should bring the young master back to the stronghold first and return to our dimension to sort everything out; we are already lucky that we managed to find him alive and well." The two of them then lead him out of the forest.

They encountered multiple animals that looked similar but were at the same time different from the animals back in his former world. The greatest difference between them was that they were much stronger than their counterparts compared to the latter.

He rubs his chin as he recalls the animals he discovered in the forest. He is confused as to why he had not met any sort of animal when he had just arrived in this world; the forest is clearly teeming with all sorts of beings.

'System, is it because of you? Have you done something to keep me safe all of this time? ' He asks in a curious manner.

[Negatively, the system is not capable of such ability.]

'If it is not you, then, I think it is because of the monster that killed the former of this body; may you rest in peace; do not worry; if I am capable in the future, I shall avenge you.' He inwardly promised.

He might not have stolen the body, but he is grateful nonetheless that he was given another chance in life.

They arrive at a city with tall walls covering it, shocking the unaware. He clicks his tongue, thinking that he might be in a world that is not as civilised as his old world.

He is greeted by multiple guards that are stationed in front and at the giant gate. As they enter the city, he is immediately hugged by a breathtaking woman that can be considered a goddess. He cannot help but feel confused; he knows that she is not hugging him but the former owner of this body.

He does not know what the appropriate response is for such an encounter; he sighs and decides to just stand there. The woman hugging him wipes the tears from her eyes.

"You stupid brother, why did you not listen to me? Do you know just how worried we are!" She starts scolding him for ten minutes or so.

Seeing his confused expression, the woman becomes angrier. Just as she is about to continue her scolding, the pretty girl who escorted him back to the city whispers something in her ears.
