Serena is a valiant knight known for her tremendous bravery, superior swordplay, and determined sense of justice. Dressed in her shining silver armor adorned with her family crest, she stands as both a protector and a symbol of hope for her kingdom.
Despite her outward demeanor, Serena holds a heart full of humanity and kindness, often going out of her way to help her people in need and defend the oppressed.
Her focus stems from her ill-fated past, during which she lost her family in a sudden attack. This tragedy instilled in her a resolve to stand her ground, declaring that nobody should suffer the same tragic fate. Serena's loyalty to the kingdom compels her to prioritize her duty over her personal dreams.
Wicked beings from another world brought a deadly weapon powered by black magic, and the galactic invaders threatened to decimate the kingdom's population.
Serena, the kingdom's reincarnated hero and beacon of hope, stands at the forefront. Her beautiful armor shines with a light that could illuminate the entire world. Bruised and covered in blood, she remains steadfast under pressure, supporting her fellow knights and soldiers with her presence.
As the galactic invaders drew closer, their advance brought despair to the kingdom. Serena knew that the kingdom's defenses would not withstand the next attack.
The king's sorcerer informed her that the galactic invaders could only be defeated from within, but the endeavor would require a great deal of magical energy, which could only come from a powerful wielder.
She does not hesitate.
Turning to her people, she speaks with firmness, "This is the duty I was reborn to fulfill; I'll end this here."
The soldiers and her fellow knights begged her to reconsider, but she kept them at bay with a purposeful smile. "People deserve to live without fear; protect them and fight for a brighter future."
With that, Serena charged toward the galactic invaders, dodging their black magical powers and weaving through the large throng of enemies. Her steps were graceful yet powerful, like a hurricane in human form.
As she reached the galactic invaders, she unleashed all her power in a single, devastating attack. Her golden aura spread across the battlefield in a blinding light, causing the galactic invaders to crumble, their black magic dispelled. However, the force was too great for Serena to withstand, and her body began to fade away, her soul merging with the light.
Her final words echoed in the minds of her kingdom's people who witnessed her sacrifice: "Protect this kingdom, and never let hope fade away."
When the light dissipated, the battlefield fell silent. The enemy's power lay in disarray, and their confidence shattered with the loss of their weapon. The kingdom's army marched forward, victorious yet mourning the death of their beloved true hero.
In the aftermath, a statue was erected in her remembrance and honor at the center of the kingdom, inscribed with her words. Though Serena is gone, her bravery lives on in the hearts of her people, inspiring generations to come.
Warm sunlight filtered through the canopy of emerald leaves above her, and the scent of wet sand and blooming flowers, with tiny droplets of water from the recent downpour, filled the air. The sounds of gushing water from a nearby stream reached her ears.
Serena blinked, looking around in confusion. She plucked a flower and inhaled the freshness of nature surrounding her.
As she wandered through this unfamiliar place, she wondered how she arrived here. She pinched her arm to determine if she was trapped in a dream or if she was truly in this strange location, which looked vastly different. "This place looks quite different," she mumbled.
She felt her body moving differently, imbued with a new sense of power. "This is strange," she said, examining herself.
The clang of sharp swords clashing, unpleasant smoke, and echoes of final cries occupied her mind. "For the kingdom," she had said...
***Blackout***
A celestial shard of great mystical power, colored in emerald green and adorned with sparkles and gold linings, emerged from the ground, beaming faintly as if alive. When Serena reached out, warmth flowed through her hands, and a soft voice echoed in her mind: "You are chosen."
A strange growl resonated through the kingdom's forest. Serena turned in the direction of the sound. "What's that?" she asked.
A creature emerged from a tree behind her, its body entwined with shadowy tendrils, and its luminescent amber eyes locked onto hers.
"Oh! A fennec fox. I thought they only existed in fairy tales," she remarked.
Serena felt apprehensive and attempted to distance herself from it. It looked beautiful yet unreal, but the creature continued to draw closer and leaped onto her. Fearful and unsure of what the creature might do, she stood still as it reached for her neck, brushed through her hair, and sniffed it. "It means no harm," Serena thought. Before she could pet it on the head, the fox bit into her neck with its sharp teeth.
Serena screamed as the creature fled. She touched her neck, now bleeding from the bite. "What the heck! The creature has injured me," she muttered to herself, shaking her head in despair as the pain coursed through her.
Fearing another attack, she walked away from the scene of the incident. As she journeyed, seeking shelter, she heard a noise behind her. Slowly turning, she spotted a woman in her forties knitting a sweater.
"This woman looks strange; she resembles the fox with those eyes," she thought.
"Umm... Hello, ma'am..." Serena said. The woman looked in her direction, her pupils widening, then turned away.
"Ma'am, I'm talking to you. I need help, please. I don't know how I got here, I've been bitten by a strange fox, and I'm looking for shelter to rest. I am weak and tired," Serena pleaded.
The woman turned back to her. "You're asking for help from the wrong person. How can I be sure I wouldn't harm you as well? Now run along and find help elsewhere."
"Huh?" Serena sighed. "You're the only human I've seen here, so I thought you wouldn't pose a threat to me. Please help me. I don't know my way around here."
The woman retrieved a first aid kit from her house, producing plasters, cotton wool, and antiseptic liquid. She cleaned Serena's wound with a cotton ball dipped in antiseptic, addressing the blood on her neck.
"You are chosen to be one of us. I was the one who turned into a fox and bit you to make you one of our kind." Shocked, Serena moved away from the woman. "Why did you do that?! Chosen?!" she shouted.
"You are chosen to help us and bring peace to this kingdom," the woman explained.
"Help you?! Turn into one of you?!" Serena exclaimed.
"Yes," the woman nodded. "I can see your soul is innocent and pure, which is why I am making you part of my pack." She spoke softly, studying Serena's bewildered expression.
Serena frowned. "Part of your pack? What pack are you talking about? You chose me because I'm the chosen one? All of this is new to me, and I don't understand any of it." Confusion was written all over her face.
The woman sighed, concerned, and examined the tired and perplexed Serena. "Let's pause here; you must be really tired right now. You look like you're about to pass out." She assisted Serena inside to freshen up.
Then she provided Serena with some clothes to wear and offered her food.
"Okay, you should stay here in this room; the bed is comfortable. Rest, and we will discuss everything tomorrow, okay?" the woman said as Serena nodded, laying down in her confusion.
"Good night," the woman said, turning to leave but halted when Serena spoke.
"What is your name?" Serena asked, realizing she hadn't inquired about the woman's name during their conversation.
The woman smiled and replied, "Call me Nora."
Serena nodded, sighed, and gazed at the ceiling as she closed her eyes to sleep.
***The next day***
Serena awoke from her slumber to find breakfast set out for her. Nora had prepared scrambled eggs, bread, and tea.
"Good morning, Serena. I hope you slept well and that your pain has subsided," the woman greeted.
"Good morning, Miss Nora. Yes, I slept well, thank you, and the pain has faded," Serena replied.
"I'm truly grateful for everything you've done for me, especially for providing shelter," she added.
Nora smiled, saying, "Oh, it's no problem at all. You're one of us now. I can't just leave you lying outside by yourself."
After finishing her breakfast and on her way to take a bath, Serena felt that strange power surge through her body once more. This time, her entire form changed as she transformed into a werefox, letting out a loud howl.
Nora rushed into Serena's room, smiling as she said nodding, "Welcome to our kingdom, Serena."
Serena fell unconscious and reverted to her human self.
