Jake walked through the park. Feeling the brisk spring air. As he walked. The air grew thicker…and thicker…his body felt like it was under an immense pressure. And then a large gust of wind was felt lightly on his back as he turned around. A rift had just…appeared. Formed immediately.
"…I could report this to the hunters association…or…I could snag some free loot. I'm definitely too weak. But this is my opportunity to level up!"
Jack dashed into the rift. He entered to find stone walls. The appearance of a cave. He noticed small crystals lining the walls. Mana crystals. If he took those. He could make a good buck.
'Theres no way I can get those out without a pickaxe or some extra levels. I'll just have to keep moving and come back later.'
Jack activated Camoflauge. Running through the cave, scouting. He only found a few low level monsters.
'…those are the same wolves from the beginning of that hell. I remember it clearly.'
He sighed and released his Camoflauge. Bringing his fist down onto the wolf. And then hearing a loud clanging and a sharp pain his hand.
"Fuck! I forgot they literally have silver skin."
He had pretty much no chance of killing the wolf. He had thought that being even a small bit stronger than the average human was enough. But clearly not. His fist alone couldn't destroy the wolfs outer layer.
'Who knows…maybe something was miraculously out into my Arsenal.'
Jack used Kings Arsenal and found something…strange. There was a broken sword in there. He had no real or fake memory but placing something in his Arsenal. It must've been a gift. He sighed and took the broken sword out of its spectral form.
'The sharp end should be enough to pierce.'
He burst forward. Stumbling a bit. His body was weak for the movements he was trying to do. But he did it the best he could. He stumbled forward, but was able to keep his grip. Piercing the wolfs skin just a bit. Then bringing the broken sword down. Again and again. The broken edge providing for the perfect sharpness to penetrate the outer layer of metal skin.
Once the armored skin on the head was weakened. He grabbed the wolfs jaw and held it open slightly as he brought the broken sword down into the inside of its mouth and stabbed it until it was lying dead.
[Leveled up!]
"Now we're getting started."
Another wolf charged. With the slight boost, it was able to provide him enough of an advantage to take control over the situation. He grabbed the wolf and slammed it into the ground. Grabbing his sword and showing it into the base of its neck and kicking the sword deeper with exceptional force. Instantly killing it.
[Level up!]
Jack killed 6 more of the beasts. Leveling up 3 more times. Leaving him at a steady level 5.
'I should probably leave before a guild purchases the rift.'
On his way out. Jack managed to hack out a few mana crystals with his sword. Placing them in his inventory. And then using Camoflauge. He sensed a powerful energy entering the gate. A man with white hair entered the rift. Yawning. While followed by a woman with a clipboard.
"Mr…Dimitri! Please be careful. The association wasn't able to properly scale this rift…it could even grow to the size of an S-Rank rift. And even an S-Rank like yourself may not be able to…—"
Jack suddenly recognized the man. Dimitri Morgan. An S-Rank hunter, guild leader of the white flames guild. Famously not a man of many words. Dimitri simply shrugged along.
"…there's already monster corpses here."
'Shit!' Jacob screamed at himself internally. 'I forgot! I didn't clean up anything!'
Dimitri stared. Right into Jacob's eyes, like he knew. But didn't really know. And then looked away.
"Perhaps it was just a territorial dispute. Mira, could you have these corpses be analyzed by the hunters association. They appear to have…slash marks on them. But messy. Not like any proper sword."
Jacob knew he needed to leave. But he was curious. He wanted to see the power of an S-rank…
