David's expression shifted dramatically. For a moment, he looked completely stunned, his eyes wide with mock surprise. Then his lips curled into a grin, sharp and mischievous.
"Oh? In that case… I won't hold back!" Before Katsuo could even react, David's fist shot out, aimed straight for his nose bridge.
But—
Clang!
Katsuo's cybernetic arm shot up, blocking the punch effortlessly.
Whether it was the high-end prosthetic or the martial arts chip doing the work, Katsuo remained unfazed. He grinned smugly, his confidence returning in full force.
"Oh? What's this?"
"Trying to start a fight, David? That's cute." His tone grew mocking.
"But your punch feels kinda… weak. Did you find that chip in the trash or something?" Katsuo stepped back, taking a stance.
"Let me show you what a real martial arts chip can do." He began throwing a series of rapid punches, his fists moving so fast they became a blur, generating gusts of wind that ruffled David's hair.
"Ah-gee-gee-gee-gee-gee!" The ridiculous sound effects he made only added to the absurdity of the display. To the average person, Katsuo's moves might have seemed impressive—even intimidating.
But to David? He just blinked, his expression turning into a deadpan stare.
"The hell is this?" It didn't matter how fast Katsuo's punches were. The patterns were predictable, the movements mechanical.
Even without using the system's newbie perks, it was painfully obvious that the so-called "advanced martial arts chip" was all flash and no substance.
It wasn't martial arts. It was a child's imitation of it.
"Is this… supposed to be impressive?" For a moment, David actually considered letting Katsuo tire himself out.
But then, curiosity got the better of him. "Guess I'll try this out." Just as Katsuo's fist neared, David activated Sandevistan.
The world around him slowed to a crawl, every motion becoming deliberately clear. Time seemed to freeze, turning into the bullet-time effect from an old movie. He let his grip on the package in his hand loosen, watching it hover mid-air.
With precise movements, he ducked and weaved between Katsuo's flurry of punches, as if they were nothing but leisurely motions. Then, in one fluid motion, he planted his elbow squarely into Katsuo's chest.
The force was controlled but devastating, sending Katsuo flying several meters back. As time resumed, David snatched the package from the air and returned to his original position, standing perfectly still as if nothing had happened.
"Wham!" Katsuo hit the ground with a grunt, sliding across the concrete before colliding with a nearby tree. For a brief moment, the courtyard fell deathly silent.
The crowd, which had been gathering to watch the confrontation, could only stare in confusion. One second, David had been standing still. The next, Katsuo was laid out several meters away, clutching his chest.
"What… the hell just happened?" Some murmured among themselves, while others stared at David as if he had performed a magic trick.
Unbeknownst to them, a nearby surveillance camera had captured everything in perfect detail.
"Want to Try Again?" David casually dusted off his sleeve, his tone calm but filled with mocking amusement.
"You were saying something, Katsuo?" Katsuo, struggling to catch his breath, pointed a trembling finger at him.
"Y-you… you—" David cut him off with a smirk.
"Me? What about me? Or did you want to try again?" His tone was calm, even inviting, as if daring Katsuo to make another move.
David's casual glance toward Katsuo's two lackeys was enough to send them scrambling away like scared rats, not even sparing their supposed "boss" a second thought.
David didn't bother stopping them.
"Worthless cowards." With a calm smile, he turned his attention back to Katsuo, who was still writhing against the tree, struggling to get up.
Katsuo had barely managed to prop himself up when David's foot came down hard, pinning him back to the ground.
"David Martinez! You're finished!" Katsuo spat, his voice filled with rage and desperation.
"How dare you attack me in public?! My dad will have you expelled—no, arrested! I'll make sure you rot in a cell for the rest of your life!" His once arrogant tone had dissolved into the howl of a beaten dog, thrashing helplessly under David's unmoving boot.
David tilted his head, his smile shifting to one of mocking amusement.
"Wow, you're really leaning into the 'pathetic loser' act, huh?"
"You're in no position to make threats, Katsuo." He pressed down just enough to make Katsuo wince, his voice dropping to an icy calm.
"Your life is in my hands right now." Katsuo's panic turned to defiance, his voice rising in desperation.
"You wouldn't dare! My dad's on the Arasaka Academy executive board!" Hearing this, David let out an exaggerated sigh, shaking his head.
"God, you rich brats are all the same."
"You never know when to just shut up and accept reality, do you?" He crouched down, his cold gaze locking onto Katsuo's terrified eyes.
"But hey, if your dad's so powerful, I'm sure he'll be able to buy you some new arms." David gripped Katsuo's cybernetic arms, his expression calm yet focused.
Then, activating Sandevistan, the world slowed to a crawl. With a single, calculated motion, he ripped both arms clean off.
"CRACK—!" The sound of metal tearing from flesh echoed through the courtyard.
Katsuo's scream followed immediately after, mixing with the gasps and cries of the surrounding onlookers.
David pressed down harder with his foot, and Katsuo's words died in his throat. His face turned red, his breath choked off, his once-arrogant demeanor reduced to pure desperation.
David watched him squirm, then spoke in a low, casual tone. "You know, Katsuo… there's an old saying that floats around Night City." His voice was calm, almost conversational, as if explaining a simple truth.
"Live free."
"Die whenever."
He tilted his head, watching Katsuo's eyes widen in terror.
"Every day, bodies pile up on the streets. Some people die in gang wars. Some get hunted down for revenge. "
"And some? They get shredded by cyberpsychos."
His smile grew sharper, his foot grinding down slightly.
