Chapter 8 - Chapter 8

Raphael decided to end the beast in a horrible way. He then turned to his brother and drove his claws in his chest.

"You caused this!!!!!!" He roared.

"If you didn't leave the house, none of this would have happened." He fired.

Still unable to move, Christopher looked up slowly and saw the hatred in his brother's eyes. Yes. It was his fault. He killed his parents and sister.

Raphael was still fuming and the fact that Christopher was quiet made it all worse.

"I didn't mean for this to happen!" Christopher cried.

"I only left because I thought Shimira was in trouble. Her voice led me to the forest where I found a lady that told me that there's a cure for our Astral nature." He cried hoping his brother would understand and when he saw that Raphael was not responding, he continued.

"She said there's a girl to be born and she will be our redemption, all we have to do is find her and the moon goddess will direct us." He continued.

"You killed our parents and sister all because of our nature? Did they ever mean anything to you!" He shouted.

"You know what, don't answer that. I'll make your life a living hell for what you've done. And when that same girl appears, I'll tear her apart, limb to limb then drop the pieces at your doorstep." He said with hatred in his voice.

"I'll be your worst nightmare!" He said in a dangerous whisper.

Christopher watched as his brother began to leave, part of him wanted to stop him and apologize but the other part knew that if he did not leave the house, his family would still be alive.

Lazily, Christopher walked over to where Shimira's body was and knelt down crying. Moments later he walked over to his father's and later his mother's.

Then he decided to bury them near their house and on his way back, he saw young Jaime also in tears.

"Christopher! Chris! Chris!." Jaime called.

"Bro, you don't have to blame yourself every single time. What happened was unfortunate." He added.

Jaime looked at his friend with pity in his eyes. Every single time, Christopher blames himself for the war that happened.

Even though Jaime also lost quite a lot that day, he understood that Christopher meant well and he just didn't want him and his brother to live in fear anymore.

Christopher wiped the tears that formed in his eyes and looked outside the window.

"Maybe in cursed Jaime." He said

"Stop saying that." Jaime said.

"Then why do bad things always happen to me, huh? I mean, look at the girl the goddess brought here." He said touching the bridge of his nose.

"Look around you Chris, you built this. A home for all these people. You gave them hope that tomorrow would be better. They experienced the war but still decided to follow you despite knowing that you're an Astral. You fought for us when we were attacked a number of times. You are our leader, Chris." Jaime said with a smile.

"You know, for an idiot you sure know how to make someone feel better. Thanks dude." Christopher said. Jaime opened his arms for a hug.

"Come to daddy," he said.

"And he's back." Christopher scoffed.

"Oh come on, you don't want to leave me hanging." He pouted.

"Horry!!" Christopher called and immediately Horry entered.

"Kindly show Mr Harris out, seems he has forgotten the way." Christopher said.

"Don't call for me when you miss me, I won't show myself to you ungrateful pig!" Jaime said while leaving.

Horry who was just standing there looked at the two friends admiring their bond. Nobody ever addresses his master by his name nor interact with him in such a manner.

*TALITHA*

I've tried to leave this endless place a million times but to no avail, hence, I gave up.

Somehow I felt safe where I was and other times worry filled my mind. My mind would drift back to mother and how she was doing. When will this ever end?

I tried opening my eyes again and this time, I saw some light. Slowly, I opened them. My eyes met the most handsome man I've ever seen.

His hair was tied into a bun, his eyes had a striking amber touch to them and all my word! His body was just amazing.

I kept looking at him without noticing the girls around me. They must be the ones I was hearing.

The mysterious man whispered something to one of the girls and he left. Why would he leave me like that?

Pull yourself together Tee! You barely know the man! I cautioned myself.

"How are you feeling Miss?" One of the girls asked, grabbing my attention.

"Can I get some water?" I replied instead.

"Sure. Charity, kindly get water for Miss." She said, looking over to the other girl.

So that's Charity, then this should be Audrine. I thought.

I looked around the room and I must say, it was very beautiful. The bed was big, there was a table on the side and a bookshelf just opposite the bed, there were two doors on my right, which I assumed one was the bathroom but I couldn't make out what the other was, on my left was the exit door.

"We are just glad you're finally awake Miss." Audrine said with a bow.

"How long have I been out for?" I asked.

"A full moon and some days Miss." She replied.

"What! I've been out for a whole full month!" I exclaimed and Audrine nodded.

My mind was occupied with a lot of things. First, where was I? Second, who are these people? And finally, how is my mother doing?
