Chapter 6 - Elizabeth Windworth

As they ran Eerie who had regained consciousness, called after some of the soldiers to chase after them.

Miles later, confident they had lost them, they finally stopped, as Nova dropped to his knees.

He couldn't believe what had just happened and was in his head yet again, why does despair have to follow me even in this life?

Have I really lost my friends and Family just like I did back on earth?

No, he thought…as he gritted his teeth together, trembling, this can't be how things end.

| "Hey snap out of it" a sharp voice pierced his daze. The golden hair girl, with piercing Hazel eyes , yanked him back to reality,

"you crying pitifully won't solve anything" she added coldly.

"anyway, I have done my part and completed your friend's dying wish, I'll be on my way now"

Her words struck him harder than any blow could and for a moment Nova fell silent.

| "Wait" Nova called out, his voice hoarse. The girl stopped mid turn her golden hair catching the shimmering light as she glanced

| "what now?" she asked, her tone impatient.

"this might sound strange but…"

Nova hesitated as his throat tightened and sweat dripped down his face.

"I think I've met you before, seeing you today, feels like…like I've known you for years"

The girl's jaw dropped slightly, as a scowl formed on her face she Wondered, is this fool actually trying to flirt with me after losing everything?,

"I'm leaving now" she repeated, her tone sharp.

"Hold on" Nova called out again the desperation in his voice forced her to stop, turn her head slightly.

"just hear me out, and if you're not convinced then you can leave without looking back."

She gave a long exasperated sigh, whilst crossing her arms.

| "You've got 5 minutes,"

"Good enough" Nova said quickly, his voice steadier now. He stood up slowly while brushing dirt from his knees as he gathered his thoughts.

"I've been having these dreams…dreams of a girl with golden hair like yours and long pointed ears. It started a day before all this happened and…it happened again today"

As he explained he watched her carefully, expecting disbelief or perhaps mockery, he didn't expect her to believe him because if roles were reversed even he won't believe what he had just said. Instead her expression darkened, her piercing eyes locking onto his with intensity that felt like daggers.

| "what did you say your name was again" she asked, her tone suddenly serious.

"Nova King" he replied, unsure where this was heading.

"Well Nova King" she began

" I believe what you're describing is called joint consciousness. It is something only higher beings or beings more intune with Lumis can experience, it does not come as a surprise that you think it's strange," she continued

"but yes I am drawn to believe our consciousness may have cross paths before."

Nova seemed confused about what all this meant, nothing made sense. His confusion was evident on his face. She sighed brushing a strand of golden hair behind her ear while adding,

| "Don't make that face, one can never understand the ways of this world, up till today I thought Terrarians like yourself couldn't sense Lumis. But I guess our paths were fated after all."

Nova was in disbelief mainly stemming from his lack of understanding from the subject, but before he could ask any more questions, the girl straightened her voice.

| "I don't think I introduced myself, my name is Elizabeth…Elizabeth Windworth the Third, I am an elf nearing my final Evolution soon to become a light Elf"

Nova's jaw dropped

"Wait…you're Elizabeth Windworth? As in from the legendary Windworth family?"

"I don't know anything about legendary" she replied with a faint smile though her eyes remained focused " but yes that one"

| "But" Nova stammered, struggling to piece together her presence with the stories he'd heard.

"Wasn't the Windworth family wiped out due to… an unknown factor?…I thought the entire family was gone" Nova said, completely surprised and honored to have met a member of the legendary house Windworth.

| "Well, you thought wrong" Elizabeth said, her voice mixed with bitterness.

"That 'Unknown factor' is what happened here to today, they're called the Empire— a coalition of mixed races hell bent on destruction for reason still unknown, they've been targeting powerful families of various races. They attacked my family years ago. I am the sole survivor…and now I know there next target. This has to end."

Nova was silent, awed by her resolve. Yet, amidst her tale of loss and vengeance, his thoughts turned to his own family. He clung to the hope that they had escaped the attack. They're alive. They have to be.

| "what will you be doing now?" Elizabeth's voice broke his thoughts.

Nova took a step closer, his gaze unwavering.

"I'm going to find my family" Nova said with confident. "I know what you say might be true and by the time I get there everyone would have been wiped out, but I can't accept that, my family is strong. They won't go down without a fight" Nova said with pride.

He dropped to his knees, his voice trembling with raw emotions.

| "so I'm begging you, help me find my family."

Elizabeth's expression softened, for a long moment she was silent. When she finally spoke, it was from experience. "I used to think the same. I thought my father, my family, and our city—the First Elven City—were untouchable. But I was naive. I watched it all burn. I saw my family butchered. That day scarred me forever."

Nova watched as Elizabeth was forced to go through that nightmare again, but he just couldn't allow himself to doubt his family.

| "Fine, if you insist on going I"ll go with you, since my Destination is routed through your city, but don't come crying when things go south."

Nova felt gratitude but was more focused on arriving at the city as soon as possible, and so they took off.
