"Estel" hearing my mother's voice, I sat up from my bed. Sliding my legs of the hard, uncomfortable bed I exited my room, I made my way to where her voice was coming from. Entering the kitchen area I saw her standing by the stove looking distress. "Yes mother" I answered, she spun around, letting out a sigh she came over to me.
"Son, we are out of gas. I need another tank" she said, I nodded turning and leaving the kitchen. Taking up some changes we had on the wooden table, I slid my feet on my shoes that clearly need to be thrown away. Leaving our small house, I walked down the streets of our village.
Yes I live in a village. We have a King and he isn't a good one at best, everyone in our village are poor and could barely afford to buy anything with the little money we have. At times when things get so bad, people would course out the King until he gets frustrated enough to bring us food and supplies.
"Good morning Estel" A very nice lady who usually greet me everyone day said. I smiled at her and waved. "Morning Mrs. June" I said skipping my way to the man that sell all the gas tanks.
Arriving there I walked in. "Morning sir" I greeted him with a smile. "Morning Estel" he greeted me back. "You need a gastank?" He asked. I nodded. "Ok, how you got?" He asked, glancing down at the change that were in my hands. "I only have 20 shekels, can I get a tank with that?" I asked pushing out the change to him. He smiled nodding. Taking the shekels he went to the back and took out the gas tank.
Coming back out with a full tank, I thanked him and took the gas tank. Throwing the tank up on my shoulder I left the place. Walking back down the street I saw some girls staring at me. I smiled at them warms and continued my way home.
As I walked I saw a horse, it looked in distress, it was wild and shaking its head frantically. Setting down the gas tank I slowly made my way over to it. "Hey hey there. Easy guy" I said going over to it, I held my hand out as I got closer, it was stepping back but it also stared at me curiously, I smiled and placed my hand on it's head. He didn't acted out and actually melted into my touch.
I giggled rubbing it's head gently. "There you go" I said kissing it on it's head. "Hey you! What are you doing with my horse?" Spinning around I saw one of the King's men, he rushed over to me grabbing me by the arm roughly. "Ahh, hey wait. I-i didn't do anything wrong" I said trying to break free from his grip, but he held me tightly.
"Yeah right. How did you calm my horse huh?" He asked looking down at me. "Would you let me go first" I said, he pushed me away almost causing me to fall but I held my balance.
"What were you doing so close to my horse?" He asked once again. "I saw him, he was in distress, so I calmed him down before he could hurt anyone. I think you should keep a good eye on him next time" I said, walking over to grab the gas tank and leave but he stopped me. "What's your name kid?" He asked. Looking up at him I took a deep breath.
"Estel Blake" he hummed nodding. "Ok Estel. Thank you for calming him down, I'll see you around Estel" he said walking past me and going over to his horse, hopping on he road off leaving me there.
I sighed putting up the tank and making my way back home.
Arriving home, I went inside. "Mother, I'm back!" I yelled. Going to the kitchen I sat the tank on the floor, she sat on the wooden chair, her leg crossed over the another. "What took you so long?" She asked getting up. "Sorry mother. I was stopped by one of the King's men" I explained, her eyes widened and she rushed over to me, grabbing my face she checked me.
"Did he hurt you?" She asked, checking my arms. I chuckled lightly. "No mother. I'm fine" I said, she let out a sigh of relief and stepped back. "Don't do speak to those men ok. All I would you to do is focus on your books" she said smiling. I nodded and she kissed me on the forehead.
In the Kingdom.
"Your Majesty" The guard said bowing down to the King who seat on his throne. "Yes" the King answered. "I have meet a young man today in the village. His name is Estel Blake, I calmed my horse when I couldn't, I think he'll be good to join the Royal High School, your Majesty" the man explained. The King hummed nodding his head.
"Calming a horse isn't a good reason to bring him to the Royal High School. He needs to have brains" The King said, his hand on his chin. "Your Majesty, I think this young man does have brains. I calmed Ruth" The King sat up straight, staring down at the man.
"Ruth?" He asked, the man nodded. The King took a deep breath and thought to myself for a bit. "Ok. I'll let you bring him, but if he doesn't has the brains that My school is looking for and he just calmed Ruth by luck. You will regret even telling me about this boy" The man nodded straightening up.
"Thank you your Majesty" the said turned and left.
